If Houston deals Watson, it will be to NYJ in most scenarios. They will need a QB out of the deal, and #2 gives them one, #8 will not provide a starting QB. The Dolphins will not trade for Watson or draft a QB. think about it--they draft a guy #5 overall--ahead of Herbert--and he is on the surgeon's table. Then there is no OTA, no summer workouts for him, no preseason--and they are ready to move on from him? No. That would be stupid. They will build around Tua. Hell, if the front office grabs another qb--they need to be fired while watching Herbert's highlight film. Do they go with local boy Fields? Doubt it. Atlanta is more likely to draft a QB than Miami--and that would probably be dumb with the #4 pick unless WIlson is there--and he won't be. Atlanta has a ton of holes, a QB with some tread left on a bad contract--they trade back. If So Atlanta will trade back and draft a defensive player or two or three. Who trades up? Teams looking for a QB? I would assume that Lawrence and Wilson are gone before Cincinnati picks, but I am not sure Lance or Fields is solid enough to get a team to trade away a ton to move up. I expect Chase, Sewell, and maybe even Parsons or Pitts to slide into the top 10 at some point before the Panthers pick. I would also assume Fields finds a landing spot in 1-7. So it comes down to this: Who is desperate enough for a QB that they would trade capital enough to move up to #3, #4, or #5 for a QB? You could guess Detroit, but they have Goff, so why not draft a few players to build the defense and give him a WR weapon? Hard to imagine Chase or even Smith getting by this spot. No QB--they need WR, DL, LB, DB, and then QB. They could trade--the Lions would not be that expensive for a team like SF or NE to make a move-and I think Bill B. in NE is singing Cam's praises to smokescreen his intent. Will Philly go with Hurt? Would they draft ANOTHER NDSU QB? I think Hurt is thier guy for now. So there will be trades, and nobody will know a thing until April 30. I can tell you that the first two picks are Lawrence and Wilson. Book it.

This year, the QBs are a bigger mystery that in the past, and they are always a mystery. Do not assume you know the deal--YouTube videos and articles by meth addicts are hardly sources we need to use to make "final answer" decisions in early March.

I read that Cosmi is horribly overrated, and Verge's rating indicates that.

Panthers will "pay any price" for Watson (via Sportsnaut via PFN)

At least this is not for a RB. -
Anybody remember when Colin Jones "asked" for his release?

I have had the same thought for years. What the hell is a very special, Special teams specialist? A kicker, a long snapper, and a punter. After that, you should be depth that is competing for a job on offense or defense. In fact, I sometimes wonder why we do not teach a backup LB or TE to be the long snapper. Maybe that is dumb, but... -

Fast as a gazelle, dumb as a sloth. -
Why is that? He just seems arrogant, self-serving, and dickish, but he seems to think we all love and adore him. I don't even think his teammates like him. Can't put my finger on it, but I loathe him.

Can I cite you as a source? This just feels credible.

Chris Simms Just Released his 2021 QB Rankings
MHS831 replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
Folks, you can't discount this list by cherry picking previous mistakes. Attack his points for each and then compare the points to points he made about a Rosen or Haskins. You can't say, "He sucked when he predicted Haskins at #2, so he must suck now." I have not read the entire thread, but I am surprised nobody is jumping on the "I want to be a GM" comment. Oh well, its early March. Enjoy--we all know this will be forgotten by April 29. -

Mr Scot--it is time to admit it.

I see Chicago.

New Orleans has to have some punky little obnoxious gooberhead at QB--makes sense to me.

Nevermind. I see no way they pull this off unless seattle takes a ton of big salaries.

We really got our $$$ worth out of our free agents last year.

Chris Simms Just Released his 2021 QB Rankings
MHS831 replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
I am going to be "that guy" for a minute.... We have all been reading about players based on stats and programs etc. and we all have read the millions of people who are not really qualified to evaluate players in depth but we believe them, and there is a general consensus that seems to change (with QBs a lot) right before the draft. And the draft rarely goes the way any of us think it might, and that baffles us, because we are very informed with recycled, uninformed perspectives circulated by people trying to get you to click on their names. And steeped in this propagandized pot of misinformation, some of us have the gall to criticize a person with venom and unsubstantiated allegations because what he says does not equate to your "research" and understanding. There are so many variables--college program, support staff, coaches, players, etc. that we really do not know--nobody does. So what Simms does is he cuts through all that and offers a perspective based on his understanding of what makes an NFL QB successful. You can see what he values, and a son of an NFL QB who played QB in the NFL who has been working as an NFL analysis and QB talent evaluator for 20 years---who the hell is he to tell David Newton or Shithead Jones about NFL QB play? This is not about clicks, race, or anything else--it is an expert's opinion and he gives reasons for each opinion that none of us are able to attack--so we just attack him in general and try to dismiss him. I personally think he makes strong points and since so much depends of support staff, coaches, players etc. at the next level, the player is rarely the one who busts--the organization did not provide a realistic opportunity to succeed. Some GMs see the QB as the messiah, hoping he will solve all problems. Nope. He is 1 of 11. -
Very similar to Turner.

We can afford Gabe, but he was injured and has not played well. However, he is 29-in his prime for a G>

It does seem, however, that there is a lot more talk of five QBs in early round 1, instead of 4. If the Panthers are open to all 5, it could mean they sit at 8. -

I think Mond is better--but it is hard to say--Wake? -
I think we can afford it, but signing him might mean we are drafting a QB--instead of trading for a veteran.

I do not want Fields. I have gone from him being my favorite to my least favorite. I am now focused on Mac and think it could be the pick--but a lot can change.
