Trey Lance on nfl network as if 12pm est
MHS831 replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
So basically, this is not a situation where 8 teams are going for 4 qbs. It is a situation where 10 teams are going after the remaining 2--possibly 3 QBs starting with the third pick. All picks will be given trade offers to move up. We will be sitting 6 picks out when Fields, Lance, Jones are atop nearly every board. Does a QB fall to us? Jones, probably. I doubt the other 2 do. What are the options? Trubiski is free agency. Watson in a trade. Trade up with Miami or Cincinnati. Never trade with a division rival, and make Atlanta choose between Fields and Lance--I bet they go Fields or they bail altogether and take the picks behind door #2. -

If we are going to get serious about a QB and they like Lance much more than Mac, and they probably should, we will trade up. Jags--Trevor Jets--Wilson Dolphins (wild card--smart to trade back, but they could love a player and that could be a QB. Trade for Watson? Who knows?) Atlanta--Fields or Lance (while I think taking a QB now is dumb, they have so many needs and a decent QB under contract) Cincinnati (another Wild Card--teams will be giving them a lot for the #5 spot if a top 5 QB is on the board) Philly--possibly taking a QB or would trade back Detroit--Possibly taking a QB or would trade back Denver (9) SF (12) NE (15) Washington (19) all could try to move up from where they are. (the picks are from memory--approximate) -

We got better when he sat Whitehead down. -
He was found (a few years after playing) living under a bridge in the Dallas area. He won the lottery TWICE--once it was $28m. One of the games he used coke--the Super Bowl vs. Pittsburgh. "Henderson did have one big play against Bradshaw, sacking him in the second quarter while linebacker Mike Hegman yanked the ball out and ran 37 yards for a touchdown. Bradshaw, though, had the last laugh, throwing for 318 yards and four touchdowns; he was named Super Bowl MVP. On the sidelines at the Orange Bowl that day, Henderson said he utilized a small spray bottle that contained a mixture of water and cocaine. “I had a deviated septum that was a bloody mess, and I had this big scab,” he said. “When you’re snorting (cocaine) pebbles up your nose, it’s going to hurt the lining of your nose. But I was only using the (the spray bottle) for medical purposes to ease the pain, not to get high.” There already had been plenty of that going on during Super Bowl week. “I’m in Miami, the headquarters of cocaine, and I was trying some new stuff,” Henderson said. “Some Colombian drug dealers were just giving me stuff. I had about four ounces on me when I got on the team plane to go back to Dallas after the game.” By the next season, Henderson’s antics and cocaine problems had worsened. Brandt said he confronted Henderson after he received an anonymous call about his drug use but that the linebacker denied it. This is a very interesting account of Hollywood Henderson: https://www.twincities.com/2018/01/28/hollywood-henderson-looks-back-at-wild-drug-addicted-super-bowl-days/

Cam is not the guy you bet against, but I don't bet against physics or Father either. I hope he has one bad game next year. -
Josh Norris believes WR 3 is a big need this offseason
MHS831 replied to GoobyPls's topic in Carolina Panthers
Here is where I sit on the issue of the TE issue, since most Huddlers are dying to know: There was a signing this offseason, Fitterer's first, that is probably more significant than people realize--and there was one before that that could be significant as well. Fitterer signed Stephen Sullivan, a TE on the PS taken in the 7th round by Seattle. So Fitterer had a connection. But maybe Fitterer was not the connection--maybe Brady was the connection. Sullivan was converted from WR to TE before his SR year at LSU. He is now 6-5, 248 lbs, and only 24 years old. Obviously, he could bring the position a pass-catching threat. In addition to Sullivan, we added Tommy Stevens, a former QB converted to TE who is now listed as a QB again. I think they will look at him as TE depth, special teams, and #3 QB. It just seems that we are more versatile and athletic at TE, and if Sullivan was Brady's call, we could see a glimpse of the TE position, which might explain how the #3 WR spot is more important. -

Cant wait to see what he can do in that thing they used to call "preseason". I think the Panthers know what the have in the barn. -
I just checked my expired license. Apparently, I'm Max McGee...zzzzz
-
What was that? I dozed off.
-
Good point. I see something special in him--he will need the right system.
-
Most of my audience is already dead.

That happens to me every year--the guy I want is sitting there and then we take a guy I had scratched off my list. Mac has me intrigued--I think boom or bust is the best way to describe him. While most Huddlers are not in the Jones camp, I see the potential for him to be great in the right system. They say, "Yeah, but at Bama he had a great OL and WRs" That would be "the right system". So I see both sides--but I post "Pro Jones" stuff because there is literally NOTHING statistically that says, "write him off." Nothing. So what are people seeing that they don't like? They want a mobile qb and he aint that. Gonna be a fun six or seven weeks.

She prolly meant Billy and added an M accidentally. Seriously, Chris Simms probably watched the 1 game this season and based it on that. How hard would it be to prepare for 1 game? I can't imagine everything in the program was running normally-must have seemed like playing in the Spring Practice game.
-
The name was Max McGee-- a backup receiver for the Packers in the first Super Bowl--did not think he would play, so he stayed up drinking the night before the game. I think there was an injury and he had to play hung over. He scored the first Super Bowl TD (2 on the day) and had 138 yards on 7 catches. I am telling you folks-there may be something to this. Booze it or Looze it.

ohhhhhhh boy. sounds like watson is getting traded. per jim trotter

Funny how we are having to restructure Hurney's dumbassery. He loves giving RBs big contracts and he just had to give Thompson a big deal. If you pay a player more than they are worth, he has to know by now it tends to get that player released and creates dead cap money. It is not security--it is just bad business. -
Yes--the watson thing is out of their hands, and if they see something the like in the draft, it could impact their price point. Even without Watson, we have to know what we are willing to do on draft day--Are we trading up for Lance? how far? etc. Watch Denver, Fua. They are laying low and I think they will move up as far as they can.

what do you mean?

Yeah, that is fair. UNLESS they are the same person!! Let that sink in.... Kidding--he is often the voice of reason, so the unreasonable attack those ideas that do not align with their own logic. Instead of appreciating an alternative perspective, they attack him in a temper tantrum. -
I think they are kicking tires at the very least.

Personally, I think drafting the third or fourth best QB at #4 when you have Ryan under a huge contract and SO MANY needs is dumb. The "no brainer" move is to trade out, acquire a first rounder for next year so you can move up---and meet some needs. Too many GMs see a QB as a "get out of jail free" card. You put an entire franchise on 21-year-old shoulders and you sit back and hope for a miracle. Dumb.
