  1. Good points. Cody Davis is interesting. I had not heard of him. 4.41 is flying for a FS, much like Mitchell. I too have liked the TE from Iowa. Britt is 25 or so, so he is mature. He was pretty solid in college. Coleman may not be a 5th rounder, but in this draft, some talent will fall. That is the reason I think we grab 2 . There is a name I have not seen discussed that I was hoping Zod would mention: Dri Archer--RB/WR/KR, Kent State. (discuss). Solid day 3.
  2. I am interested in James and Hurst. Hurst got hurt in the bowl game (broken leg) and I think he is flying under the radar.
  3. I got on his bandwagon at the combine--where his stock rose. He is a good fit for our system and he is mature (someone said that Gettlemen does not like to draft underclassmen).
  4. Do not underestimate Thomas Davis' role in Klein's (and Kuechly's) development. The guy is a pro.
  5. Just gotta make sure that we do not draft Davis' eventual replacement by selecting a white guy whose last name starts with a "K." That would throw us back 100 50 several years.
  6. Maybe, but many are kids--23-24 years old. IT can wear on you to a point where you start believing it. Heck, during the games, they get pumped when the crowd cheers and bummed when they boo. Human nature. I played in college, and when you win you want to go to class and out to eat, etc. WHen you lose, you order in.
  7. The point I make is aligned with yours--the fans and the media will remember those comments and the player will be reminded of these expectations through twitter, interviews. etc. I understand what he means, but he needs to understand the potential consequences of his illustrations. He called AJ Klein "Luke Kuechly 2.0" or something. This team needs focus--not pressure and distractions.
  8. I got that, but any time you mention another active player's name, you are inviting unfair comparisons.
  9. No, not breaking anything to me, but there are a lot of variables he is in control over that contribute to "luck." And he does what a lot of coaches would do and gets crucified when he fails. However, the Buffalo game should have been a no-brainer simply because if you make it you probably win, if you don't you probably tie (they would played for the safe FG instead of having a rookie QB throwing into the endzone). If Rivera and Bill Billichek or Jim Harbaugh or Tom Coughlin or Mike Sherman or Bill Parcells etc. sat down to play a game of chess, how often would you bet on Rivera? Crazy analogy on the surface, but I want a smart person who takes calculated risks. A person who has seen other strategies before. A person who can adjust. A person who thinks 2 moves ahead. None of those are Ron Rivera, it would seem. I hope he wins 10 games this year and people throw this post in my face. I could live with that.
  10. The thing about Rivera that bothers me is the thing I liked most about him in the beginning--his press conferences. Just this year, he compared AJ Klein to Luke Keuchly. Last week, he likened (indirectly) Sproles to Barner. I hate that he spews statistics such as the team's mathematical method for grading players and does not play the odds during games. If you have an 80% chance to win a game on 4th down, especially if not getting the first down means the other team is likely to play for a tie--you take that chance. Don't sit there and tell me that Hardy had a good game because he was a factor in 1/3.44 plays per game and the norm for DE's is 7.3. If you understand numbers, then play the odds and do the math.
  11. This could be a commitment to Cam. Who on this staff has experience running an offense with a dual-threat QB? And look at this: Seifert from a California team Rivera from a California team Eerie.
  12. Good--Rivera is awesome when he is about to be fired,
  13. Iwill say it: This is a MUST WIN, probably for both teams. We need to run the ball and they are stingy in that area. Barner could play a role. Cam will have 70 yards rushing. Panthers 24-10 I think we have turned the corner, however, Rivera is still the coach. We had a bye, are on the road 2500 miles from home, and the Beason trade could be a distraction. Can he pull the troops together and get them firing on all cylinders? Please.
  14. I talked to Beason after he was first moved to OLB a few years ago. He was positive and upbeat. Then he sang Luke's praises and accepted a lesser role. He was with Davis throughout his rehab. Beason will be better in the middle, but I have to wonder how his body has held up through several years of the pounding a MLB gets. I hope he fires that Defense up in NY and takes it to the Saints, Falcons, and Bucs. He will bring them knowledge and leadership.
  15. Now go out and punish the rest of the NFC South when you play them.
  16. Ginn runs about 60% of the route tree, all vertical routes and the comebacks for the most part. He simply was not a good fit with Smith and Moore/Henne before that--the system was part of it, the QB's arm strength was the other. Ginn should never be a #2 because he does not run all of the routes. However, he is awesome as the third or fourth WR.
  17. I have not seen them all, but I can say that they upgraded this year.
  18. For those of you just joining this thread, this was in reference to cooking steaks and in no way has any other meaning.
  19. Panthers 20, Giants 16. Rivera is undefeated in "my ass is on the line" games.
  20. Panthers will (I bet there is a thread for this, but I am rebelling against the norm. My shrink said it was OK): get 4 sacks get 2 interceptions score 4 TDs win 34-17. Lafell, Ginn, and Tolbert will have bigger roles. 2 will score TDs. I am not telling which two. That is a secret. Luke will get 15 tackles, and one of the interceptions. He could also recover a fumble, or he could not recover a fumble. I am certain about one of them. Watch for an unsuspecting hero. I do not want to spoil the outcome any more than this.
  21. I know he mows Mr. Richardson's lawn, but Bersin could be one of those players who makes a difference.
