Here is what I do not like about Person--he infuses his opinion into the writing too much. Based solely on this quote, "he heard some stuff and now thinks, based on the QB performances we all could see..." (full disclosure--not a member--read what I could) What did he hear, exactly, from the scouts? This is BS. Click bait speculation. He knows if he writes about QBs, it will generate hits--but there is nothing here--impressed that he knew were Rhule vacationed last year--impressed that he referenced the Stafford deal--but does he elaborate on what the scouts told him?

Not sure I like the idea, but here is what we know: The Raiders are in red ink and he would be a $19m break from it.. We could swap first rounders with them and send them a third. They get to move up into Lance area and have a third to help if they need to make another move up (Cincy or Philly) if necessary. They get $19m cap room, the positioning in the draft to draft another QB, and a third. The Panthers would have the 12th overall pick, 2 NFL starting QBs. The Panthers could then trade back for a late first and late second--then picking late 1st (Tackle like Cosmi) and 2 seconds (MLB, CB) with no third. They ain't getting 2 first rounders for Carr. Not happening. Carr has 2 years left on his contract and no money is guaranteed. I am not sold on this move even though it might appear to be robbing the Raiders. Still, at $20m unguaranteed, we would have about $45m in cap room going toward Teddy and Derek. Stats are great, but most Raider fans want him gone. Mayock even said recently, (paraphrasing) "The best part about Carr's contract is that it has almost no guaranteed money." Not exactly a ringing endorsement.

Second round is where we will grab a LT, and this year looks to be much brighter than the year Marty got desperate for Little. Cosmi and Leatherwood are fringe first rounders who could slip into round 2 a bit Although I doubt it, Cosmi (Texas) could drop, He is my choice for a second round LT. I doubt he makes out of round 1. I see Slater, Darrisaw, Jenkins (RT), Tucker as lock first rounders. (Some have Tucker as a G--not me) I would say Radunz, Eichenberg, Mayfield (RT-so much depends on the Moton situation) will all go in the second round. I see Carmen Jackson (consistency) and Walker (question marks) in the third.

Benjamin St-Juste (CB, Minnesota) I had never heard of him. And although I caution against players with hyphenated last names as a general rule, this could be a real sleeper. He is probably smart, having graduated in 2.5 years (he had 3 years of eligibility left when he graduated). He is 6-3, 200 lbs with 33" arms--at corner. He had a good day at the SR bowl and a good week of practices. I think he could be an early day 3 steal. https://saturdaytradition.com/minnesota-football/former-minnesota-db-benjamin-st-juste-drawing-rave-reviews-at-senior-bowl/

This draft is loaded at slot WR and I think we could get a third-round talent in the fifth round. I am impressed with the depth at T and G as well. On defense, there are quite a few hybrid players as well. This draft has to have Rhule drool all over it. I think they will trade back, maybe in the second round, and pick up an extra player or two.

To me, the move is to trade back to a desperate team willing to give us a future first rounder to move up for Jones. Build the OL with the rest of the picks, and save the first you got in a trade in 2021 for Jones for 2022 and use it to move up for a QB. Imagine we have build the OL and added a TE. We have 2 firsts in 2022 and can move up--and we should have fewer needs, allowing us to spend more draft capital if needed. If we were sitting at 13, for example, and the 28th pick, and the second rounder-- They could get you into the top 3. Not what we want to hear, but it could be better than wasting a pick this year.

But so are we. All predictions at this point are reaches--wild speculation--click bait, but I could ask you, "how many people were predicting any ONE of these things--Burrow to win the Heisman, national championship, and get drafted first overall in early fall 2019?" In other words, maybe we have the person who gets QB play on our staff.

Based on what I have seen in this draft at slot WR, re-signing Samuel is a bit of a luxury that we probably can't afford.

I do not place a lot of stock at the SR Bowl, but he completed 56% of his passes and that was without blitzing etc. It was the perfect stage for him to showcase his talent, and he has talent, he just has not put it all together yet. He is a project, so he should be picked by a team with an established starter to groom.

I agree. Britt was looking like an Undrafted FA, but this game may have helped him. I heard Paddy was a step slow. Felton would be a solid replacement for CS. I think this is a great draft for finding gems at G late---I want C Creed H. or Myers (who could play G while Paradis ends his career here in 2021). I did not see Dillion R, but this draft after Sewell is looking solid for second rounder LTs. I did not see either, but want to--just forwarding what some site said about the players for the most part.

What Carolina and others offered for Stafford
MHS831 replied to Calboyz13's topic in Carolina Panthers
#2?, but yeah. When I saw the Jets name, it was like tipping your hand at the poker table. Everyone is now folding or all in. -
No diatribe intended, and I do not see where anyone could have interpreted an analysis of the QB scenarios to be one.

PLEASE folks--- There is nothing more exciting that an epiphany that solves a seemingly impossible problem, but please think it through before deciding said epiphany is thread worthy.

If the Panthers have an open mind, they can sit there at #8 and wait to see how the first 3-4 picks go--if they see 3 go off the board by Atlanta, they have to move up with Cincinnati--who will probably take Sewell if he is on the board or they will have many trade offers. We have to understand the leverage we have in voting close to them, and make a convincing offer. Let's say Miami takes Sewell, then the Panthers will have to sell the fact that they can reunite Burrow with Chase--knowing he or Smith will be there at #8. AJ Green is getting a bit old. So the Panthers will have to be generous, but not too generous, because if the Bengals cant get the best LT to come out in years, they can get one of the 2 best WRs to come out in some time--if they fall too far back they do not get the most elite players at either LT or WR. If Sewell is on the board when the Bengals go on the clock, I call Philly.

With All the Offseason QB Drama, Impossible to Mock QBs Currently
MHS831 replied to 45catfan's topic in 2023 NFL Draft
i have had the same thought--just depends on what they want in a qb. -
That is about what it will take. Having seen that, I am on board with trading down with Cincinnati and targeting Fields or Lance. I want to see if Rhule talks about Jones any more after last week. I think he is the "last resort" or he was talking up Jones to get someone to leapfrog Lance? So much liar's poker going on.... We need Verge to get us some insider info. We can call our web of insider information VAnon. Then if we do not get who we want we can storm BOA Stadium before the contract has been ratified. All original ideas.
-
that would save us about $8m for 2022 and create dead cap of $15m. Not sure--he may need to play a few games before Lance or Jones is ready
-
I agree, but I see this year as being different--for example, I read a Colts site and they are rumored to be targeting Fields. I think the Panthers might move up. Denver, SF--a lot depends of free agency. I think some teams (like the Panthers) prefer an unknown commodity over the known commodities that they have or will be available in free agency. Gonna be interesting to see how it plays out.

I would expect him to sit and hope that TB would play well as long as he could.

Well, I see this point because of the contract, but Goff's numbers in LA were more respectable than people realize (bad in 2020) for most of his time there---at his age, I think we are a bit premature in writing him off as a value only to the Rams for ridding him of the contract. It was the only way it happened--I get that--but the Lions will probably start Goff. The Lions are not looking at Goff as a worthless pile of debt--they will try to give him an opportunity, as they should. For his career, Career (2016-2020) 63.4% completion (66%) 18,171 yards (17,634) 107 TDs (106) 55 Interceptions (40) 91.5 QB rating (97.3) In parentheses, I posted Prescott's numbers in Dallas--he was drafted in 2016 as well. Prescott is waiting to be paid as a top QB, and he is not being questioned as the starter in Dallas. Yet Goff's numbers are similar--and Dak's OL and running game was top drawer. Goff is more than baggage to the Lions, but the Lions were smart to get a first rounder to take a quality starting QB who is only 26. If Detroit protects him and gets him some weapons, it could really end up like the Hershel Walker trade that built the Cowboy's dynasty in the 90s. Or he could be a bust and that was that. Personally, I think the Lions raped the Rams and they thanked them for it.
