Dolphins have received many calls for pick number 3
MHS831 replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Here is what I would do---you are already eliminated--you have a very young roster---play them. Put Grier at QB--start some youth at LB and play Roy more than Brown. Oliver Thomas at CB, Franklin at S, Pride at CB---on offense, I play R Smith at RB. This gives me a decent look at depth, and the draft/next season is more about depth than finding starters. Then I try to win. -
REPORT: Mac Jones not high on Panthers QB draft board
MHS831 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
To me the most interesting and informationless comment was about CBs. I think Person trying to figure out what the Panthers are doing tells me one thing--the guy has no contacts--no insider information--he should start quoting the Huddle's 4 Corners. About as legit. -
REPORT: Mac Jones not high on Panthers QB draft board

I cannot dismiss this. In February, if you aren't drafting someone you don't mention them. Still, we shall see. I think we are going to grab a free agent to take the pressure off--I would not be surprised to see us going after Minshew--the available QB nobody seems to be talking about--but there are options. There are so many Huddlers who dismiss a qb because he was in a bad system, bad OL, no defense, and limited WRs. All QBs look bad in that situation. Always playing from behind eliminates the run game and allows the d to tee off. I think we should take a long look at the damaged goods and apply their skill sets to what we do here. -
REPORT: Mac Jones not high on Panthers QB draft board

Come to think of it, I have never seen Igo and Person in the same room at the same time... -
Moton is a high-character, low-penalty, hardly-injured, fundamentally-sound, intelligent, player who is one of the best RTs in the game. Pay him. Scot is right--this is the offseason to try him at LT. RR did not like the idea (obviously) and he was better on the right side when I saw him in preseason games at LT---but moving to LT could be tried. If so, sign him now and drop the tag--give him $60m over 4 seasons.

They could be trading back, however, with a team that will.

I am guessing Bridgewater for Wentz. Contract had to be an issue.

You can go crazy thinking like that. I have seen jones compared to Rosen, Lance compared to J Allen, Baker Mayfield compared to Russell Wilson---but I have seen more comparisons between Wilson and Mahommes than Pickles. Yet I get it--you get that in your head and it changes the way you think. Verge, I would like to hear more about Trey Hill. You seem very high on him. I have seen him in round 3-6 on similar boards, but when I watched video, I could see little separation between him, Myers, and Humphries--but you did not include Myers--Myers to me is interesting because he has also played G, and he could play LG for a season, get some experience, and take Paradis' job in 2022.

Bold statement, but creative thinking.

Personally, I have trouble about Dak--he wants to be paid like he is elite, but when he was good, he had a great OL, great RB, and his WRs were not bad. I think he is good, but not great. Great is how he wants to be paid. $40m? Come on. I think this franchise needs 4 years of rookie contract at QB to have the room to build a solid roster.

Great idea, until you include politics and self-serving agendas. These are people in their 20s who, for the most part, majored in football in college. I can tell you that when I started teaching in high school and they asked me to coach, I thought I would be smarter than everyone else because none of the other coaches played in college. I was wrong. I was the dumbest person in the film room for a while. I had to learn other positions, how to watch film, how to relate to players effectively, etc. A QB may know what he likes in a coach, and maybe the captains should be heard, but by no means is he deserving a seat at the adult table. Let's say there is a head coaching vacancy and Billy Bob the QB wants Vince Lombardi IV as the next coach. The owner and GM and President etc. decide to go with George Allen III. Billy Bob does not like George Allen III so he demands a trade. Or he blames George Allen III every time he makes a bad play call or the QB throws a pick. I think the responsible GM should listen to the players, but to give them a seat at the table when decisions are being made? Nope.

one creates a qb controversy (possibly), the other creates QB apathy.

If we go bargain shopping, I am guessing there will be some cheap talent AFTER the first week of free agency--there just aren't as many cap dollars this year--a lot of teams will be cutting more than signing contracts at the 2020 rate---supply and demand.

Man, I have a fear of Bama OL. This guy was drafted in round 1, #10 overall. I do not think he has played since 2018. Maybe? But why is he a journeyman? Why has he not played? I have an inquiring mind and I want to know.

Stay in your lane....Know your limitations....multi-tasking is not always a good thing....sometimes, what seems like a good idea can backfire....take it from me.
-
Which one of you?

Brady is going to hit the wall one day soon--maybe with an injury or simply he just ain't got it any longer. If I am a Tampa Bay fan, I celebrate, I guess, but part of me does not feel great about being Shady Acres for New Englanders seeking a last hoorah. I guess Florida is used to that.

We can't assume that the release was the first move they tried to make--Watt wanted a release so he could pick the team--obviously--as opposed to a trade to the Lions or Jets.
-
6th rounder to the Bears for Watts and they kept most of his contract--and we only paid about $900K of his salary, while the Bears took on the rest, but his salary was about $12m back then and he was a one-dimensional, situational pass rusher. It was a great deal for us. We could take Watt on a deal like that, but it ain't happening. My point was the amount of $$$ pass rushers past their primes make--we can't afford to get into that kind of a bidding war. We need to develop Burns and Gross-Matos and the other young ones--they are entering their primes, in my opinion.
-
True--if this were not Houston, I would be saying, "He must be done." But since it is Houston, you really do not know. I am so happy I am not a Texan fan.
-
Sure looks that way.
-
He is still young, so that could mean he sees the upside here. I would want to be part of the growth, not some team that brings in ex-Patriots to win rings.
-
This was my first thought--- I think he was a bit outspoken about his QB-is this their answer? If so, Watson is as good as gone.
