Don't poo me for this, but a T or stud CB in round 1 and trade up for Jones in late round 2 (if he falls) is possible. Some say Lance will fall.

You ever heard of "between the hedges?" (that's all I got)
-
Not the way a hedge fund manager thinks.
-
Maybe this means we are getting Watson.

QBs taken later could be good--Dak, Wilson, Brady, Brees, Carr, Cousins---it could be a good move. He has the skills--just needs consistency etc.

Texans planned to trade Watson before lawsuits

Perhaps, but not intentionally. I think I am going to start combing she/he/and it to cover my bases. S/H/IT -
Thought this was about me--college (self-proclaimed) nickname. (nobody called me that, but I tried to get it to stick)

And on this day, "Jaguar" becomes a verb to substitute for another verb that is also used as a noun, adjective, and somehow, a preposition. -
Do your homework on Hudson--head case? https://theathletic.com/1134683/2019/08/13/coach-called-me-a-liar-mom-michigan-cincinnati-remain-at-odds-in-the-james-hudson-saga/ Smith is not a second rounder, imo. I think he will end up as an NFL G. The second round LTs are not without flaws---Leatherwood maybe?

Wonder how many Jets reps will be in attendance? If there are a lot of coaches, you have to wonder if they are comparing him to Darnold.

I think we are waiting to see if the QB picture clears up so we can sign a free agent--QB or CB. LT: Erving and Scott (slightly below average) LT: Rookie like Leatherwood, Erving, and Scott (average) CB: #1: Jackson, #2 Pride (below average) CB: #1 Top free agent, #2 Jackson: (slightly above average) By adding a #1 CB, you get better at 2 positions and have better depth that can play. By adding a rookie starting LT, you may improve at LT, but you bury recent signees Scott and Erving. That just does not sound like the plan that is in place. They are deliberately (it seems) not addressing CB--with any sense of urgency or significance. I have to think we are looking at QB, CB, then T. I am guessing that they will take a look at Scott/Erving for a year because they feel as if they have upgraded LG.

He was my secret second rounder if we did not go T
-
I am going to guess that we sign a CB today

Ever notice how everyone jokes about the kicker until the game is on the line and the team is lining up for a 53-yard FG to win? I am a bit surprised they are not valued more--how many other players (aside from the QB) determine the outcomes of games more than the K?

Who do you think will be the Panthers 2021 starting QB?

If he is on the roster, He will be starting opening day. -
Here are some points I have been trying to make but people want the impatient approach to the QB position. It is easy to say Trever>Wilson>Fields>Lance>Jones. So when you say, "I want Lance, he is better than Jones" you are absolutely right. You earn a cookie. However, when your list is formulated accurately, it should look like this: Trevor (not for sale) minus 2 star Panthers and your next 2 first and second round picks; Wilson minus 1 star Panther and your next 2 first round picks; Fields minus the 2021 first round pick and a second rounder + a first rounder in 2022; Lance minus the 2021 first round pick and the second rounder; Jones PLUS a third round pick. That is the only way you can look at this. So now consider that it is probably that 2-3 of these QBs will fail, based on history. Take Fields for example, and now compare him to Jones. Fields is still a better athlete and he has better physical tools. In the NFL, does that make him a better QB? Historically, no. So now ask, "If Fields does not work out, what have I lost?" 4 potentially high-level players. Now ask, "If I trade back with Dallas (for example) for a third rounder and take Jones and he does not work out, what have I lost?" Really, nothing beyond a wasted opportunity to land a top 10 QB. you gained a backup QB (we really do not have one) and the third rounder can be used to move back up into the second round for an OL or a CB. You still have your first rounder for 2022. So that is why this is not that simple. I think we move up, hopefully with the Jets, but if we stay put or even move back and take Lance or Jones, I get it. If the dice don't feel right in your hand, don't throw them. Jones is the fifth-rated QB on the board and there is separation between him as a prospect and at least 3 of the others. I get that. Some Huddlers are so concrete--it has to be simple--black/white, cold/hot, etc. so they can develop an argument. Life aint that way--there are variables, and I rarely see them mentioned--there is also probability and outcome, and I see no focus on the concerns some have for a QB that have sent many other future superstars to the bench for good. But the likelihood that that is the feeling in 2 years is unlikely. There are so many variables that must be considered, which is why this is an exhaustive process with a 50% success rate.

Once they get passed Watson (assuming that they have) I think we will aggressively move up. I think it will be Wilson or Fields, but I am not as high on Fields as I was earlier. -
Can you not draft the rookies in late April and sign them after June 1? I really do not know.

Somehow, we are like $28m under the cap, according to Newton (SI). We need a CB so that we can look for a T in round 2 or in the event we have to trade the second round pick. Time to do something. I think we land one of the free agents by Thursday at the latest.
