Matt, this is a NFL franchise QB if you’ve never seen one before

Both teams battle for the L admirably. a 10-10 tie.

Brady not being one of the "people" mentioned in the thread. -
He also stepped out of bounds once when he could have cut back inside for more yards. These WRs have checked out. Is it Rhule or simply Darnold? I guarantee you that Anderson is telling them NY Jets stories.
-
at the end of his career, Cam was throwing "Hail check downs"
-
Darnold is not confident with his reads. He is hesitating. Because his OL sucks, he feels the need to flee--yes, flee--based on his instincts. His coaching and brain tell him to throw to the open man. When a man is open, his feet are all wrong and his accuracy suffers. Cam had the same problem. Sam is getting worse, and the opposition has no impact on that. The WRs have no confidence in him---and that is the kiss of death.

I have not really started looking, but since he is a local product, I like Howell. His team sucks. I like the Liberty QB--and I like the Ole Miss QB. But there are many flying beneath the radar--from what I saw of Darnold today--I am not sure he makes it through the season. And we picked up his option--but at least not a $200 m deal, I suppose. Strong out of Nevada has me a bit curious.

Giants 23 Panthers 27 Halftime score: Panthers 20, Giants 13
-
Technically, if the Panthers pick top 15 and there is a QB you like out there, you take the QB. Let Darnold start in 2022 and build the OL with every other pick or trade--and the 2022 draft. That gives the rookie a year to watch, the GM a year to build an OL, and the fans another year of crap---but it is stepping in the right direction and not trying to plug holes with bubble gum. But damn we have a stable full of CBs that have value. Jackson needs to be dealt within a week (trade deadline) for a second if Fit can get it. He is the only player who we could get value for and replace without losing anything (Horn, Bouye, Gimore, Taylor...)
-
I think there are some sleeper QBs in this draft and we will grab one this year. About the OL? I expect to see a deal done before the deadline that could involve a CB for a second rounder or so. We shall see. Many think we should go OL with the first pick, and they could be right, but Howell has not had much support in Chapel Hill and there are a few others who could be there when the panthers pick. If the Panthers are picking top 15, they will take a QB. If they are picking around 20 or better, they go OL (possible a trade back.) TMI? If Cleveland will not sign their starting QB, should we? I don't know.

Sam Darnold : Will he make it to a 2nd season here?
MHS831 replied to glenwo2's topic in Carolina Panthers
why do we keep expecting miracles behind crappy OLs? Jake Delhomme had a decent OL---he was average at best and struggled everywhere else he played. But he had fire. Steve Berlein was mediocre, but at his best when the OL was good. They figured Cam's mobility and size could offset a bad OL--but he did have Turner, Kalil, and Norwell. Build the OL THEN bring in the savior at QB--why is that concept hard? Fitterer is now all into RBs, DBs, etc. The trade deadline is approaching and there are some moves he could make. Let's see what he does. -
The ole---"I say many things and when I appear to be right, I can't handle it." Nobody endorsed Jones on here more than I did--and I have not made any similar comments. Reason? I know it is all a guess and subject to change and interpretation.

Losing to the Giants - should someone get fired?
MHS831 replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
If we do not put them away and it is still a game in the fourth quarter, something has to go. If Brady were this "jeanyus" like so many people say, we would not come out of the break looking like a Pop Warner "B" Team. If that happens again, he should be gone. -
About trading Action Jackson.... He is going to cost a ton. We have Horn. We have Henderson. We have Gilmore for the rest of the year. Bouye is on the team. Taylor looked great vs. Minnesota. He is expendable. However, he is a popular guy in the locker room...so its complicated. Go get the KC backup Center Austin Blythe--he can also play G. He is better than our starting center and either guard. Nuff said.

Along with LT and TBD QB, right there in need is Center
MHS831 replied to Basbear's topic in 2023 NFL Draft
KC has a pretty good C who has been injured (Austin Blythe) who is about 28 or so. Creed Humphries is the starter. I think we should look to deal a CB for him. With Taylor coming on, Henderson and Horn and maybe Gilmore for another year or two--do we need Jackson? Maybe we could get a pick thrown in as well. -
Panthers WRs had the 6th most catchable drops by a team the last decade

I cant believe that there were 5 worse than us over the past 10 years. -
Who’s the best head coach in Carolina Panthers history?
MHS831 replied to Carl Spackler's topic in Carolina Panthers
Rivera had Cam and did not put together 2 winning seasons. Fox would have dominated with Cam. -
1. Darnold needs a lead and some blocking--maybe more, but how can you assess the QB when he is under constant pressure? Instead of bringing in an OL, we recreated the Jets front five. 2. K. Taylor looked damn good today. We have never been better at CB. 3. Michael Jordan played, and he was not good. Not sure what happened to Daley. 4. We really need a MLB. Carter is not a MLB. 5. Brady is nearly as bad at his job as Shula was---think about that. He gets too cute, kills momentum, etc. I fear that he has lost the offense. They don't believe in him. 6. Another week where Temple players hurt us. Anderson can't catch crabs in a $5 whore house and Chandler gives up the game winning TD when he has one job. 7. Where has Burns been? I saw him on the sideline a lot with the D on the field--98 was in for him. 8. The offense did not score in the third quarter. That is how we lose games. 9. The pace of the offense is terrible. Many snaps were as the clock expired. Substitutions, men in motion, etc. Are we deliberately trying to play as slow as possible? 10. Even when we tied the score to send it to overtime---did you ever think we'd win? I did not.

I think he is a g. He is average as a T, but most experts see him as a G--so we shall see. Either way, we have multiple needs and if we took him, I would start him off at LT.
-
I am guessing we will be picking between 14-21 or so--this is the player I would take in that range and it is not even close. Lotta people want that LT, but this draft is not great at the top for LTs and most of our problems are between B gaps. Not what people want to hear, but if Christensen can take over the LG spot and we get this stud at C, we could be much improved with this one pick.
