Castro Fields had a 75.5 PFF rating this preseason, allowing 2 completions on 11 targets.

Sheriff (a smallish, pass rushing specialist is my take) had 3 sacks in 2 preseason games. CB Bartholomew had an 82.8 rating during week 2 of the preseason (vs. the Panthers).

Just under the wire, my rushed predictions: Signed Waived/jhope to sign to Practice Squad OLB K.J. HENRY WR DAVID MOORE CB ROCK YA-SIN CB TROY HILL (shocker) probably Jamison CB CALEB FARLEY (hoping he will get it together here) OL Cade Mays TE DONALD PARNAM DL Jayden Peevy WR NOAH BROWN WR Jalen Coker (I did not want to waive him–I think they like him–depending on other moves, they might)

not sure how it works--do all teams announce their claims at noon, then they trickle down? I wondered about this myself
-
He took a pay cut to avoid being cut at least once. Think about it--we have been weak at TE for most of his career. I have been screaming for one for some time--TE is never a priority, so he has not been competing against top talent. Hayden Hurst? Maybe, but he got hurt and underperformed.
-
Shouldn't someone be helping him over those cracks in the sidewalk?

Vision is much more important than speed--rarely is a back at full speed if you think about it. I remember reading about Franco Harris' backfield mate at Penn State-Lydell Mitchell. He was a star for the Colts for several years. He reportedly ran (this was 50 years ago) a 5.0 flat 40 yard dash. We have faster offensive tackles now.

Here is the menu I created--not saying sign them all, but I think these were good values. Caleb Farley has had some injuries and personal issues--I think he could use a change of scenery--a gamble, but he was a stud. OLB K.J. HENRY OLB BO RICHTER OLB/ILB NELSON CAESAR CB KEENAN ISAAC CB ROCK YA-SIN CB CALEB FARLEY TE DONALD PARNAM WR NOAH BROWN DL MATT HENNINGSEN

And I think he will benefit from standing--you never know--some players are just bad fits in the scheme.
-
He is a versatile, rotational player. DT/DE--I like him. smart, tough

Good teams improve in every way they can. Now we are focusing on the bottom of the roster. This may include considerations such as the cap, team chemistry, versatility, special teams ability, etc. I doubt any of these players will sell a million of their jerseys, but they will practice against the starters. They will step in and hold down the fort when there is an injury. A good second team is very important. Why is this hard?

Going back 30 years--Curtis Whitley C

no mentioning a WR Edge, CB, TE, ILB.

This is slow to post, but maybe this helps: https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-roster-cuts-tracker-2024-full-list-of-team-by-team-moves-cuts-for-all-32-clubs-after-deadline-passes/

He had a DT on his shoulder nearly every snap and he was calling blitzes and naming the Mike--snap and first step were simultaneous--no wasted movement--he looked like a veteran to me--Cade Mays is the first and only OL who will be cut tomorrow, imo.

Carolina Panthers who still may not make the Final Roster (No order here, but I expect over half of this list to be gone by Wednesday in some way) 18 Jalen Coker WR (Coker could be cut and protected on the PS--I hope he makes the roster) 83 David Moore WR (Moore will be the first WR cut when they sign other players, imo) 11 Ihmir Smith-Marsette WR/KR (He did well, and unless we sign a returner, he should be safe--but if we do, he is not great as a WR. I still see him the third WR cut.) 80 Ian Thomas TE (He is not that great of a blocker and it seems our offense will feature pass-catching TEs with blocking skills; we could keep a 4th and take a player from another position) 64 Cade Mays G (First OL to be cut to make room, imo) 60 Andrew Raym C (They might protect him on the PS, but I think he earned a roster spot) 96 Jaden Crumedy DE (if they add a DE, both Crumedy and Peevy are cut. If they do not, both stil might be cut) 78 Jayden Peevy DE (if they add a DE, both Crumedy and Peevy are cut. If they do not, both stil might be cut) 45 K'Lavon Chaisson OLB (I think they give Chaisson more time, but he could be gone when Barno returns--or if they sign a player like Henry.) 52 D. J. Johnson OLB (I keep hearing how much he has improved, but my eyes saw Leota outplaying him--either DJ or Leota leaves when Wonnum returns.) 46 Eku Leota OLB (to be replaced by Wonnum in all likelihood and sent to PS--but not 100% sure DJ Johnson is not cut first) 53 Claudin Cherelus ILB (probably safe, but a signing could send him to the PS) 36 Demani Richardson S (I do not see Richardson surviving tomorrow's additions. To PS however, and that is probably best for him) 22 Jammie Robinson FS (It is very possible they keep Richardson because he is arguably more versatile, but Jammie impressed me--can either play big nickel?)
-
If we sign six players, we still have 5 or so waiting to heal to become part of the roster. The bottom fourth of this roster could be gone by week 4.
-
Good job with this thread Juan. You and Ricky Spanish and Icege have been great this summer.
-
Holy Crap--it is like having two, day three drafts.
-
What kind of conditioner do you think he uses? Wife wants to know.
-
PRIORITY: OLB Henry Second priority: CB Stroman
-
Peevy was really good in the three games. Glad to see him on the team--I imagine he is nearly 25--probably will end up on the PS, but he outplayed Shy if you ask me.
-
It almost sends a negative message to the team--out 30 minutes before every practice, playing well-- I also would like to know how the TMJ cut impacts Mingo--- I hope we grab that WR Houston waived.
-
good call. I forgot about him.
