  1. I see the fit--that would give them 3 QBs and we have 3/4 of a QB.
  2. Personally, I think any organization that tolerates these kinds of posts is already toxic.
  3. This season represents the lack of vision--they went after an underperforming Darnold without a backup plan. They should have drafted Fields, tbh--even if they had Darnold. Instead, they had to give Darnold his fifth year contract because he was doing fairly well and we did not have a backup plan. Then it went south, and Rhule is now confronted with either another retread or a rookie---no vision. Scott Fitterer wants a rookie, but this year? Who knows. I keep thinking that Pickett will be Pick 6--and I hope that is not irony (Pick it at Pick 6). They sure found themselves in a mell of a hess. I get the feeling that Rhule lost his hope for success when Cleveland signed Watson.
  4. I just don't see the logic behind adding a headache--you already know he and Robby are going to lock horns--and you just signed that headache to a deal--dysfunctional teams usually struggle.
  5. Any free agent, capable starting QB we get right now is going to come with an asterisk. Murray*: Tiny wants to get paid a lot. Will ignore his contract and leverage his team for big bucks. Not sure if his heart is in it like some others. Is he a leader? Baker*: Beats women and lives in the stadium. I am OK with living in the stadium, but if the "beating women" thing is true--nope. A tool that is unliked by teammates. Thinks he is above the common man--playing the victim. Jimmy G*: Needs a great D, great OL, great running game to be average. If he were a cup, he would not be dishwasher safe and you would have to protect him in the cupboard with bubble wrap. Only use when company comes over, and that makes you nervous. (Not a durable, dependable cup). Always been with good organizations--can he handle Clowntown?
  6. I know. Murray is not the QB to take you to the Super Bowl, imo. He flashes and has highlights, but at the end of the day, is he the answer? When will he decide that he needs another big, premature deal? A close look at NFL winning QBs over the past few decades will answer that question. I pass on Murray, Mayfield, and Minshew--(I added Minshew because is his last name starts with an M as well).
  7. You skeptics amaze me. A starting NFL QB on a one-year deal would allow us to take a LT and become relevant overnight. "In on every deal." ---remember? I am not a fan of this, but we are one of about 5-6 teams without an eatablished starting-caliber QB. Who is going to make a trade for a fully guaranteed, $18.5 m contract? NOBODY--except the team that thinks they are in on every deal. I think Darnold to Cleveland will be part of any deal, or Cleveland eats about half of the Baker $$. Atlanta--can go with Mariota in 2022. Pittsburgh--build a line around Mitch Trubiski and he could be a nice fit. Seattle--they like Lock, and I am starting to think that is not smoke. Detroit--Not worth abandoning Goff. Philly--Not worth abandoning Hurts. New Orleans---I think they like Winston with Andy behind him.
  8. And the names you mentioned are too classy to say a word--Arizona, for example, had some interesting QB play during Larry Fitz' time there. Not one peep. (of course, Larry F might be the classiest football player to wear an NFL uniform)
  9. The more this thing lingers, the more you hear how much of a dick Baker is. What a shame. Even Huddlers are calling him a dick (basically) and that is saying something. That is like Steven A. Smith calling someone a loud mouth.
  10. What if Darnold started supporting bringing in Wide Receivers? "nothing agianst you Robby, but we need people who can catch...." I want Darnold gone too, but as long as he is QB1, Robby needs to support him and shut his pie hole.
  11. yeah, that or take Darnold in an even swap--no picks. I'd put him on a gag order and send him to some leadership academy for kids with Napoleonic complexes.
  12. So you don't want Baker Mayfield (who is decent when healthy--just a pain in the ass) but you want Colin Kaepernik who was at best decent during his prime. Move over Fitterer. The bear hunter wants your job.
  13. In fairness, I did not like Cam because I thought he was great athlete playing QB and did not come from a system where he had more than 1 read (like many QBs). I did not think he was accurate, and I thought that his playing style would lead to a short career. While he was amazing, I prefer an amazing QB that makes it look easy--not amazing. I changed my opinion of him--but I was frustrated that he never developed the mechanics to be an accurate passer--and that he processed a bit slow, causing him to stay in the pocket too long and run too much. So we never had back to back winning seasons, Cam got banged up and out by age 32. He was great in the mid 2010s, but the banging took its toll. So much of what I thought was wrong, and much was right. I think I can get behind Pickett, but his limitations scare me as well.
  14. I did not want Pickett unless we traded back until I saw this. you have to take him at #6 or you take the LT and sign a QB Jimmy G or (gasp) Baker. HOWEVER!!!!!: We have someone many think can play LT for the Panthers, and Brady C is a very good athlete who is about 25 or so. I think he is ready now if her ever will be--- Fitterer wants a rookie QB to build around. If we think Pickett can make plays in this offense, yes, you take him at #6. I favored Willis with reservation. Now I do not want him.
  15. "Any QB is only as good as the people around him." (Bill Polian on Kenny Pickett)
  16. I mentioned more than the playoffs--I mentioned not opening up his baggage. Comfortable is not the right word, but if he plays well and there is no locker room garbage, you have to consider it.
  17. Beane is an acquaintance of mine--played QB at South Stanly High School (a student of a good friend of mine) and went to UNC W. For a few years, we were getting our cars inspected at the same time and talked for a few minutes when he was with the Panthers (early on). In fact, I used to bump into Mike Turgovac (sp?) around town as well. But Brandon never seemed that smart--just average. Of course, he is no Marty Hurney. (By the way--Beane liked Marty Hurney and the team president--forgot his name).
  18. If he opens his baggage here or does not lead this team to the playoffs, we are drafting our QB in 2023 and letting Baker walk.
  19. Here is what I offer Cleveland: An escape from the awkward Trade Sam Darnold for Baker Mayfield. Cleveland gets: A serviceable backup (although they already have Brisett, this is a 1-year situation to get rid of a headache, add a player at no cost. Carolina gets: A QB on a one-year prove it deal.
  20. We need to get Robby in the front office. Brainpower=Super Bowls.
  21. I am certain about this: Nothing is certain. It is not certain who we will pick, if that pick sucks or goes to Canton. Just gotta hope for the best. NFL Network did a piece on "Twitter Rage" where they looked back at the tweets from the 2018 draft, for example. Many People in Buffalo were outraged when the Bills selected the "wrong Josh" (they wanted Rosen). So for those of you pretending to know who will be good and who will bust---I have this for you: You could be wrong. There. I said it.
