  1. Before this version, he had the Panthers trading into Round 1 for Brian Thomas. THIS IS NOT THE MOST CURRENT MOCK--THAT IS PROVIDED BELOW: So based on this, who do you take? Brendan Donahue, the #1 most accurate mock drafter over the past five NFL seasons according to The Huddle Report, gives you his 2024 NFL Mock Draft — making predictions for every team and every pick in the first round. 2024 NFL Mock Draft Pick Team Player Pos. College 1 Bears Caleb Williams QB USC 2 Commanders Jayden Daniels QB LSU 3 Patriots Drake Maye QB North Carolina 4 Cardinals Marvin Harrison Jr. WR Ohio St. 5 Vikings - TRADE J.J. 2. I think the smart money is to listen, only take a great offer.
  3. When I have mocked, I do not like the trade down scenarios, but I am trying to fill that second round pick in 2025. I think you trade to keep from reaching.
  4. And the bottom line is the talent available. This draft should have some studs at 33 when in the past, there was a drop off. Markets are about supply and demand, not history.
  5. Nobody said the trade had to be franchise changing--and this draft is loaded--where the level of talent drops around 7, then again around 15 but the shelf for the next tier stays pretty flat until about 40. Take the last example--a fourth to move up 5 spaces. If I did not have a player I liked, or if there were three or four on my board there, I might take that deal. The reason there is not a lot of action is not because there is no interest. When Marty drafted Jimmy Clausen, he actually tried to trade up to 33 with the Rams, but they turned him away. Chances are a player with first round talent drops to #33, making it the equivalent of trading a first for a second and fourth. That is not equal value. The Panthers really need to replace that missing second rounder in the 2025 draft to give them capital they might need to move up in round 1 for a QB if they need to do that. Keeping that in mind, I might consider a future second to swap 2024 second rounders.
  6. I have seen Legette going higher in a few mocks, but for the most part, he is a mid second round guy. I like the kid--and he WANTS to be here-that is saying something. I remember when we signed Star Loutulei or whatever, from Utah and he said at his presser (paraphrasing): I guess I know now where I will be living for the next four or five years." Legette is a boom or bust pick. Of course, that translate to bust by the time the Huddle processes it. He is a 21 year old kid who wants to play for his home state team and he is talking it up. Good for him.
  7. Hard to say, but It doesn't sound like this journalist thinks TE is in the cards. Having the #1 seat at the waiver wire table could be huge if a team reluctantly has to cut a decent player.
  8. Nothing in this that we could not have collectively written. I am guessing that we will take advantage of our place in the waiver wire line to sign a practice squad QB. " The new rules allow teams to carry a third quarterback on game day, who can be activated from the practice squad. It's an interesting wrinkle since few teams were interested in carrying three on their active rosters. That makes it seem like a spot for a late-round pick. But Canales has said he would prefer to have a veteran in that role to offer more perspective in meetings and on the practice field. It's not inconceivable if a mid-round quarterback slides that they could take him late, but it still seems more likely they'd have an older player in that role." I would love to see us sign C Connor Williams. Not sure how a guy like that is still unsigned, but on the surface, that would help solidify the OL so that we can ignore it. based on this article, I am speculating our needs to be (I realize this did not discuss Defense, but those needs are depth at this point) 1. CB (Believe it or not, the Corner position is thinner than WR right now in my view. We have a 32-year old nickel, an alpha who has been on IR more than the field, and a former seventh-round pick who is new here. I think we should draft a CB early and maybe take one off the waiver wire later). 2. WR (We need playmakers--a large X would be nice, but I think the focus in on YAC and not deep speed. We will draft 2) 3. LB (We have very little depth behind our two 30-year old ILBs. We have to take one by the end of round 3, imo, or we miss out.) 4. C (unless we sign Connor Williams, we need a C later in the draft). 5. RB (we need a bruiser, preferably one who can block and has hands) 6. TE (Looks like Tremble is going to be the guy--and I saw enough to be OK with that since this TE draft class is weak). That is it. We have other needs, but they will have to wait. Am I happy with Wonnum and Clowney? I suppose. Am I happy with our DTs and DEs? I guess. TE? Nope.
  9. You mentioned Wiley--Ben Sinnott of Kansas State visited. They do seem to have a type. Good blocking and decent receiving.
  10. Frank R. said that last year. Tremble, 194 yards, 3 TDs (no drops) Caught 72% of targets. (This is something to build on) Hurst (Now a Charger, I think) 184 yards, 1 TD, (2 drops) Caught 56% of targets. Sullivan 125 yards, 0 TDs, (1 drop) Caught 50% of targets. Thomas 56 yards, 0 TDs, (1 drop) Caught 56% of targets. I see Tremble showing signs of breaking out in a new system. The others are trash.
  11. He is also a small town country boy and maybe living in an urban area 3000 miles away is intimidating to him---he seemed (when interviewed) to be a different character. Heck, he is proving that by talking to the media about the Panthers.
  12. He is from the area. He said during an interview, "If I play here, my family could come watch me play." he might have grown up a fan... I agree with the second part.
  13. I don't either, but why say anything about the Panthers? To me, that could discourage other teams from taking you. This is the time of year when you should take all media and player speculations with a grain of salt. Even if they told Bryce that he would be the pick, it was not a month or so before the draft--it was just before it. According to Legette, I get the impression that he last met with them in mid March...He said they met with him TWICE at the SR Bowl in February and again at his pro day in March...not sure about the other meeting (a visit). He did say, "The KEEP telling me..." which suggests more than once, and he said (pro day) that other coaches are yelling at me (encouragement, maybe?) but the Panthers are the only people saying this. Here is a thought--is he trying to leverage his way into the first round by announcing this? Second thought--Are the Panthers planning to use him like a Deebow and not an X? To me, that might make sense with Young and it would make his skill set more valuable.
  14. If absolutely true--yes. I don't believe it. In fact, this could be a character issue--a red flag--even if they did tell him that, you don't go around telling everyone how often you met or what they said to you. Stupid.
  15. It just blows my mind that a team of scouts, doctors, etc. and hours of film study and character inquiries etc. and they still blow it. We have been Fitterered and that must have some lingering trauma. Surely Morgan is not going to reach and gamble. I believe that P. Wilson will be a pick on day 2 at some point. That scares me too. Maybe he and Horn can get matching exercise bikes.
  16. If we did tell him that and then don't draft him and word gets out that we were lying to prospects, that could hurt us in the undrafted free agent area. I think he is paraphrasing--maybe they said something like, "We'd love to have you as an option at 33."
  17. Reading between the lines, I see Legette as a person who wants to come to Carolina and maybe he is trying to control the narrative. I would never tell a player being picked at 33 that he is the pick--what if we get a great trade offer? What if a Thomas, Mitchell, or Ladd is there? "Oh well, we promised Legette..." Not buying it.
  18. Why would you tell a player in the second round that? Crazy
  19. I love the analysis part--you were clear, but I wanted the extra gold star on my paper.
  20. So if you think you know more than Morgan and Canales in relation to Young, say so. They seem to think they can make something of Young--but some of you are acting as if you know more than them. What would you do differently, and how did you acquire so much football acumen? (2 part question).
  21. That is intentionally misleading, but if it makes you feel right, ok. The problem attributed to Young was a problem attributed to another short QB. How did the team overcome that issue and get him to the hall of fame? They paid guards. Now, that is what Morgan did. That is the comparison. It suggests that the GM and head Coach are going to do the same thing here. That is what was stated. Are you claiming to know more than the GM and Head Coach? That is a yes or no question.
  22. Bryce is short. I knew that going in. Answer this question and I will let you all claim victory. If you are so certain that Bryce is going to fail, why would a new coach and GM not cut him right away? They have no ties to him. Why would they simply not make Andy the starter? Are they stupid? If you can answer that question without creating some hyperbolic assumption presented as fact, you will convince me. Yes, Bryce is short. Got it. What is the difference between two inches when it is six feet vs 6' 5" or 5'10" vs. 6' 5"? I just refuse to throw players and coaches under the bus until they have had a chance to do what they say. I also respect their expertise. However, if you knew in your heart that Young is not going to cut it, you cut him immediately. Play Andy and draft Nix or even Rattler. They could do that, but I doubt it. So you are a new GM or a new coach and Bryce is your QB. What do you do the minute you take over and why didn't Canales and Morgan?
  23. The comparison is to a player at the same position with the same criticism (QB, hopping). It is how New Orleans built the program around a shorter QB. Gold Jacket. Cannot think of a more appropriate comparison.
  24. I see it too, don't get me wrong. My thing is, "how can we fix it?" Give him time, protection, and weapons. If not, he is out. If Morgan and the new coaches did not think they could develop him as is, they would not want to inherit Fitterer's mistakes. The only thing that worries me--is Tepper involved in this? Did he hire Canales on the condition that he could fix his mistake, which is why Canales was hired? If not, I trust that Morgan and Canales have some ideas.
