  1. Could. TEs do tend to drop. Still, we could package our seconds and move up--giving us 2 firsts.
  2. He is my favorite coach in the league. A guy you'd never pick out of a lineup as being an NFL coach. Analytical, brilliant, humorous--If the fish let him go, we grab him. I am not that happy about Harbaugh. He reminds me of purchasing a boat. The 2 happiest days are the day you buy it and the day you sell it.
  3. Character and intellect are often demonstrated when the right words are difficult to find. People who lack empathy and intelligence get exposed quickly.
  4. I read some comments about Jim Harbaugh stating that he is likely to return to Michigan. It seems few bought into that--it is called negotiations, and coaches use the media to their advantage. In a related story, coaches will lie about players they are interested in drafting. They are not very honest--shame on them!
  5. I suppose the issue is going to be, once he gets his breathing in order, how long was his brain deprived of oxygen. Pray for a normal life moving forward I am scared for him and his family. I will be pulling for Buffalo in the playoffs to get him a ring.
  6. I played in college, and even though everyone around you is getting dinged and injured, you somehow don't think of it happening to you. The warrior mentality takes over. I can say that when I was injured twice and the surgeon told me that I was done, there was a part of me that was relieved. The decision I never wanted to make was made for me, and I found immediate peace with it. I found other things to do, and they did not hurt as much. So if this experience helps him find peace off the field, I get it.
  7. You may be referring to Phil Hughston, who died from injuries at Garinger High School in 1971. The field is named after him. His brother Chuck is married to my wife's cousin.
  8. I am not sure how this is tallied, but Atlanta and Las Vegas are only a tiny bit ahead of the Panthers--they play better teams (better records) Sunday. Does that mean we leapfrog them if our records stay the same? Atlanta SOS is .470 and they play TB who have 8 wins (8-8) Las Vegas SOS is .471 and they play KC, a team with 13 wins Carolinas SOS is .474 and they play N.Orleans, a team with 7 wins. If they recalculate based on the teams during week 17 only, we would leapfrog them. If it is based on the records of all games played then I have no clue how to figure it out. It seems that we are sure to leapfrog the Raiders if we both lose or win. Does anyone know how this is calculated? Do they figure all teams you played and compile their overall season records, or is it the record when you play them?
  9. Bozeman and Christensen played very well....
  10. Signing Darnold now, a player who has been to the bottom and sat and watched while contemplating his fate--a player with a half decade experience in the NFL--carries less risk than a top draft pick in 2023. He is showing growth--and I think there might be something there. And I really want to focus on a few other spots.
  11. After what I saw today, he seems to be turning the corner. I think I would sign him for next season and forget giving up 3 firsts or paying $50m for a veteran free agent. I would have to see the numbers, but we REALLY need a TE. We could use a S. We need healthy CBs.
  12. Our starting CBs are on IR. We have CB#3 and CB#4 on their WRs #1 and #2. They were in man with no help over the top--and we were stuffing the run--why?
  13. Darnold's Age Hendon Hooker QB Tennessee is 6 months younger than Darnold. Stetson Bennett, QB Georgia, is 2.5 months OLDER than Darnold.
  14. I am not sure if Darnold has improved or the OL/run game has. He has been given leads--can he bring us from behind? He has not really been charged with throwing the ball downfield that much---but when you are leading and running the ball, all passing gets easier. He is 24--if only any QB in the history of the league took 5 years or so to become good. Never happens.
  15. MHS 101: Logic by MHS. A course for people who pretend to be logical or need input from someone pretending to be logical. You can argue--"I ain't giving up no first rounders for no QB!!! Does the name Robert Griffindore III ring any bells? Mitchell Trubiskee?" However, is that worse than paying a veteran $50 million to come in and stink it up? I mean, you could argue that Goff has outplayed Stafford. You could argue that Russell Wilson has crippled the Denver team for a half decade. Half of the first rounders tend to bust or underperform. If you really like a QB in this draft, you go get him. However, my problem is: I really don't like the top 2 QBs in the draft. I would rather pay Minshew, draft a project like Matt Corral again, and develop players. I feel pretty good about the fact that last year, I mocked Brock Purdy to the Panthers a lot in the late rounds. So I know what I am talking about here. Herndon in round 2? I know that he is old, but that means you get a mature QB on a first round contract. I like the QB from Houston, "Name that" Tune. I dunno.
  16. We already don't deserve to be in the playoffs. We did run well against them in the W before. I do not see that changing.
  17. you have to consider the "Panther way." We will lose to the Bucs and then blow out the Saints on the last game of the season in a meaningless contest (since Moore took his helmet off).
  18. I like the leader, but the player is nothing outstanding, in my view. I seen him chasing a lot. He makes a lot of tackles, I suppose, but we are so spoiled with Beason, Mills, Morgan, and Luke---I just do not see that kind of LB--a guy who is in the hole with the back and stuffing the run. I see a guy who is great from sideline to sideline, but not a stuffer. Someone set me straight, because I want to like him.
  19. He already said that he will retire if not playing with the Raiders. Haven't we already driven a used Carr here before?
  20. You can go back and forth all you want about QBs and pretend to know whether he will be good or not. QBs are creatures of their environment, and until the environment is set, you just don't know. Levis had a bad OL at KY and his skill players were not good, but we are going to compare him to QBs from Ohio State and Alabama. Its a crap shoot.
  21. Of course, gas station sushi is a close second.
  22. And throughout history--there have been teams to win the super bowl with mediocre qbs--Jim Plunkett, Hostetler, Brad Johnson, trent dilfer, doug williams, etc. So it can be done, but all other pieces were in place. In the era now where QBs are costing 25% of the cap, it could change the way GMs build rosters. I mean, Denver and Cleveland fans have to be very nervous right now.
  23. and he was slow at 24 when he came out of college. (ran a 4.67 or something). Wonder what he is running now, without his cane?
