He will want 5 years, fully guaranteed, at $250m. To me, that is not worth it. He is an exciting player, but at the QB position, you need consistency over highlights. He has a 62% completion rating and averages less than 200 yards per game. He usually has a solid defense. And then there is the injury--will he be available? Of course, you can ask that of any qb, but Jackson takes chances when he runs.

I don't either (but the question was "who do you want in Carolina?") because if it goes wrong, he would be tarred and feathered. I think Shaw will be a good NFL coach. I think he made Harbaugh look good (along with Luck) at Stanford. He knows Xs and Os, he knows offense, and he knows personnel. I met him on Stanford's campus when I was there for a conference--I was walking with a group of professors by the athletic facility to the SCALE center, and the team was loading the bus to go to the airport--game at Colorado. He (not an assistant, not a manager) was monitoring the process. So introduced myself and started talking to him. Nothing but class. I would hire the man and forget his former gig--but that is just me.

I agree--not a huge fan of any of the top 4 QBs, but I am starting to like Richardson more and more (over the past 24 hours). I think he will be the pick if there at #9, and I think I would be OK with that if we sign a bridge QB.

Yeah, there are so many variables that determine how a QB is "rated." This video breakdown focuses on the things in the NFL that matter--his ability to navigate the pocket, read the defenses, turn his eyes away from the intended target to make his WR get open. Our WRs were not really getting open last year. This could be what the Dr. Ordered. I am intrigued and will watch more film on him.

All you all make points that I have in my head too--I think, however, when you are talking round 3-5, you risk tolerance has to go up. In the first, if 22 and healthy? Probably not. I mean, if you put a 25-year old Tom Brady in that offense, would his stats have been better? Can we all agree that drafting a QB--regardless of the round--is a crap shoot? I can't pick them. That completion percentage is terrible--like to know more about the variables (bad OL, wrs, te, etc). Call me crazy, but I would rather take Herndon Hooker in the third. GREAT draft. Who, based on his age and ACL injury, could be there in the third. I have no problem with a QB between the ages of 26-29 (actual playing years) on a first contract. Everyone wants a young QB to develop and keep for 15 years, but I am a firm believer that you can win in the NFL with a strong line, strong defense, good running backs, and good but not great QB. What happens with a 21 year old college star, is that there is immediate pressure to play and you are on a bad team. Bad D, bad OL, etc. When I was 22 I was not mature enough to handle all that learning and responsibility--I would have busted, in all likelihood, based on my maturity alone.

Goff sucked when he got there. Now he is better than Stafford, and they have the picks and a decent contract. I think we will re-sign Darnold (I know--he sux, yadda yadda--back to work! Those fries don't salt themselves) to a short backup deal and draft a QB.

From what I have seen concerning his list of candidates, I would say Wilkes ain't gonna get the job. I like the guy--maybe not as a coach--but he really has not had a fair shake as a HC--just do not think we are in position to gamble with him, concerning our offense.

Mays looked good in his absence. Still, we always need solid depth.

OK, this will make some of you mad--but Hooker coming off ACL surgery could be a steal at QB. I think, looking at the mocks right now, he'd be there with the panthers first, second round pick--since his ACL injury could make him a lame duck his first season, he could fall to the late second, early third. Why is that a steal, you ask? We could move up and get a top rated QB in the draft and it would cost us our First and probably both seconds. All of the top QBs seem to be developmental projects--not ready as rookies to start. No QB in the draft had a better year than Hooker: "The senior posted 3,135 yards passing, 430 yards rushing and 32 touchdowns with only two interceptions for the Volunteers' high-powered offense. Hooker threw five touchdowns in Tennessee's first upset victory over then No. 1 Alabama." Yes, he beat #1 Bama with 5 TDs. He is 6'4" and can run the ball. OK, he is a bit older than other QBs in the draft. I see that as a good thing---he will be mature during the first contract. Age 25-29, a veteran athlete on a rookie contract. He could play until he is 35, giving us more than Cam did (due to his playing style). So if we draft Hooker in the second round, we'd still have a first rounder and a second rounder. We could add a TE early in the draft. That, after we re-sign Bozeman and Corbett, would make this offense scary. He is coming off ACL surgery. That means he might not be ready until he is 26, in the second year of a four-year deal. It is a reason for concern, but he would be able to learn the offense. We would probably need to sign a veteran QB on a one year deal, but then we'd have Herndon on a rookie contract for three more seasons. With the OL restored (by the way, Cade Mays played great vs. New Orleans) and upgrades at WR and TE, this team could be good with a transitional QB. Just a thought.

Talent can be found in the bottom rounds. Romo was a good example.

Probably, but he turns 25 in a few weeks. He showed improvement, just not enough to give him a second contract for a starting QB. I think, in the right situation, he could be adequate to decent. But I was not saying Sam is good--I was saying that TODAY his WRs were not getting open.

Until a stud QB starts tickling Bozeman's nuts with the back of his hand, it does not matter who is wearing headsets.

The Saints do not have a first round pick, so they will not be tanking or losing to rest players. Having said that, their injury list is substantial.

He is working on blocking--however, he was a HS basketball player who played football for 1 season. So, some parts of his game are raw.
