What cracks me up about this is Wilson's arrogance. He SUCKED this year, and he is the personification of a bad trade/contract. The Cards and the Broncos are in similar situations--the Broncos being the worst. Its between Houston and Carolina, and I think Houston is the best option for him. He can go in, draft a qb, and turn it around immediately. Houston's 2023 draft: First-round pick (own) SECOND OVERALL Probably a QB. First-round pick (via Cleveland in Deshaun Watson trade) 12 th OVERALL (This is the pick they would probably ship to New Orleans) Second-round pick (own) Third-round pick (own) Third-round pick (via Cleveland in Deshaun Watson trade) Fourth-round pick (own) Fifth-round pick (own) Sixth-round pick (own) Sixth-round pick (via Vikings in Ross Blacklock trade) Sixth-round pick (via Saints in Bradley Roby trade) Sixth-round pick (via Giants in Keion Crossen trade)

People need to remember, we have average TEs--we need a threat at the position. To me, Kincaid is the best receiving TE but his blocking is not good (yet), but Mayer is the total package. Hard for any team with needs to consider trading up, but mediocrity happens when you draft mediocre players. If we could get 2 first round talents at QB and TE in this draft, I would be pretty excited.

Sean Payton’s Panthers interview is on hold
MHS831 replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
I see the Texans in his future. They have draft picks to spend and the Saints would approve a deal in the AFC before the NFC South. Does he like the city of Houston? Well, he liked New Orleans. -
Sean, come to a team with a late first this year (which would go to the Saints) and no second, no first or second next year. $160m salary is guaranteed to a 35-year old short qb with a 2022 QB rating of 37.0 (ranked 27th in the league). The other QBs in the division: Herbert and Mahomes--and maybe Carr. Russell Salary and poor performance + no draft picks + elite competition at QB in the division. Sounds too good to be true.

I see him going around 20 or so. I would love him with the 2 seconds.

People seem to be sleeping on Mike Kafka as a candidate

Probably. -

Actually, in the story, his main character, Gregor, I believe, transitions from a human to a giant roach. Not the best metaphor after all. -

Want some literary irony? Franz Kafka was a German-speaking Bohemian writer who is famous for his novella, "The Metamorphosis." Metamorphosis means to transition from immaturity to maturity. I used to teach English Lit back in the day. Discuss. -
But in the case of Watson and Stafford's contracts, it may be a good thing he was played. As outsiders, we do not know who walked away--if you are in on every deal, you might get played once in a while. Part of it.
-
But if they allowed the Panthers to talk to him, it seems that the compensation is all that is left to discuss. Maybe the Panthers get the "NFC South" rate.
-
But then we'd have to not believe this if it was read aloud, or half of it if read silently? I am so confused!

about giving up assets to get a good coach---a good coach gets the most out of players. he has an eye for talent and knows how it fits his system. Better than drafting good players and not knowing how to use them, not developing them. I look at 2 panther second rounders who are not being used to their full potential: Chinn and Marshall. Bring in Payton, and suddenly these players get better. I imagine the plan would be to use the second rounders and the first this year to trade up and grab a QB, giving up this year's third or fourth and next year's first rounder. That would give Payton a young QB to develop and we will have cap room moving forward, so the pick is not that big of a deal. Just analyzing the situation---not as unrealistic as it sounds.

Petition to Change BOA Back to Natural Grass
MHS831 replied to The Huddler's topic in Carolina Panthers
Petitions only show you how many people want something. However, what if 4 people refuse to sign it for every one person who does sign it. You get 200,000 signatures. What does that really mean? -

I once started a petition to discontinue all petitions. It did NOT work. -
Really good TEs are an improvement, but we have 4 TEs who are OK--so I am not sure if you take a TE later. We really do not have a TE who is an offensive weapon that DCs worry about. I agree with RB--put your $$ in the OL and the RB and the QB get better.

Detroit Fans "Ben Johnson is Terrible, Stay Away"

We kept Marty Hurney and let Brandon Beane walk. Not related, but I am still pissed. -
Tepper enamored with Ben Johnson per Person
MHS831 replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
If it is true that we do not like this group of first round QBs (TBH, I get that), this pick makes sense. They could sign an unloved veteran QB and use this pick on a stud--If 4 QBs go before the Panthers pick at #9, a stud will be there. Wonder what he could do with Darnold? Before you laugh, read the old Rams and last year's Lions boards about Goff. That could be the plan--a QB whisperer. -
Panthers receive permission to interview Sean Payton

One reliable source--who is this Adam Schefter guy? -
I do not think they know, but at least it gives us some convo topics and hope.

Mr Scot does his homework so we don't have to!!

I think the most revealing thing about this was that you assumed I meant you. I was simply complimenting the thought process and diligence of Mr. Scot, and sending a jab at the people who tend to be impulsive on here--over the years. If I was targeting you, I would have mentioned your name. I do not care who posts what, to be honest. I just prefer honest statements supported by facts over emotion-fed conjecture.

Ben Johnson would be a solid pick. Another guy with Carolina ties (Asheville Reynolds HS, UNC), fwiw.
