  1. I don't think he was--I think he was illustrating a point that shows how, immediately after combines and pro days--the QBs are inflated and everyone has them ranked higher than they should. I saw mocks last year that had 3-4 QBs going in the first round.
  2. I see the Colts, Raiders, and Panthers as the key candidates to trade up--with 3 suitors, the Bears and Cardinals are in really good spots.
  3. Are Reich and Mcown the right combo to develop a QB like AR-15 or are they likely to be better with Stroud or Young--or even Levis or Hooker?
  4. Here is me: Plan A: If you really love Stroud, trade what it takes to get him with the Bears. In my opinion, we need a QB more than picks. When you consider that some picks bust (about half of first rounders) it is worth the risk to escape mediocrity or worse. We did not put this coaching staff together to not have an elite QB to develop. I think we are going to go all in. Plan B: Assuming you don't love Stroud or Young, Sit at #9 and take AR (if there) or Levis (if there). (not sure I would take Levis at #9 though). If they are gone, go to plan C. Plan c - trade back in round 1 and acquire another second rounder or better yet, a 2024 first rounder. Draft Hooker in the late part of round 1 to assure that you get him.
  5. There is also news that Hooker will be ready at the beginning of the season--he would not be playing, but it is noteworthy that you are not losing a year as thought before.
  6. The problem with QBs that are amazing athletes in terms of size, speed, athleticism, etc is that they have always been so--able to use their legs to bail out the QB when going through the progressions. This can cause the QB's brain to go into escape mode, knowing that he has the ability to turn a potential sack into a big gain--been doing it his entire life--much like Cam. But when the brain starts thinking run, the feet go into run mode, and then the eyes see an open receiver, and the arm goes into throw mode when the feet are in run mode--leaving the feet in bad position to be throwing a football accurately. So there is some compromise (usually with accuracy) with running QBs. Is that the case with AR? Probably, but I have not seen enough of his tape when throwing incomplete passes to watch his feet---all I have seen are the highlight reels. Yes, he was impressive at the combine, but there were some hints of accuracy issues when he was not under pressure at all, in tee shirts and shorts. Like Cam, Lamar Jackson, and others with less success, you sacrifice when you draft a running QB--career lengths are closer to a running back than a traditional QB, accuracy, and these QBs play with injury a lot. Just my sobering analysis.
  7. When they showed the graphic of the most athletic QBs, it was not an impressive list of NFL QBs. We have to be very careful of falling in love with these "workout warriors," but I must admit, I would be elated if we drafted him--but I like the Stroud game and he is still my preference.
  8. But if we had good TEs, would we have thrown it more?
  9. Getting Stroud if it costs you a first next year is worth it to me if he is your guy. Imean, giving 2 first rounders and a second is not that much for a franchise QB. Don't forget--we should have a lot of cap room next year, so the loss of a first rounder can be absorbed in free agency. If we feel that either of three is OK, then that contradicts their philosophy on moving up. I think their board is: Stroud Richardson Young Herndon
  10. Adam Thielen on NFL Network Combine coverage said he thought Aaron would probably retire.
  11. exactly my sentiment. If we stayed at #9, I would be praying that we did not take Levis if he was on the board. He rubbed me the wrong way today. He seems to be a dangerous combination of Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson without the obvious talent.
  12. Here is what we all know--- We are tired of retreads and attempting to save QBs from the bust bin. We have a top-notch staff, ready to complete NOW We have been very aggressive so far (which seems to be an indication that Tepper has finally lost his patience, a good thing) We will be drafting a QB, and we will be aggressive. No top QB will be there at #9, so we will be moving up. How far are we moving up? The CMC trade was made so we'd have draft capital to move up for a QB. We will also give up next year's first rounder for a QB---if we like a guy. We are going to trade with the Bears or the Cardinals, depending on how many QBs we like.
  13. It really is hard to say with those three--I can see all three QBs atop a lot of boards---Levis just rubbed me the wrong way today. He is nothing special.
  14. So are we going to talk to the Bears now, or should we wait 5 minutes....entered this before I read the thread--great minds, huh Jimmy?
  15. I expect Levis and maybe young to fall.
  16. He should be there day 3--according to the mocks I have seen.
  17. Need to start looking in rounds 3-7 for the TE--and there will be some there. We are going to be sending our #9, #39, and 2024 first rounder to another team. I am not like some of you---mesmerized by the incredible workout warrior AP, but I would not be sad about it either--- I say we go after Stroud, get a TE (maybe in free agency) and make sure we develop an elite OL. Another WR too. But I loved the way Stroud was throwing the ball today--we just need to give him a clean pocket. AR would be better without a great OL, but he would miss some WRs too.
  18. I noticed him as well--clean catcher, smooth. I am not a UNC homer (son a graduate, we pull for the heels, but not because we bought Wal-Mart shirts)--he stood out. I was like, "Who is that?" and then they said the name....
  19. I like his release. he was under pressure a lot in KY--so I am not comparing him to young and stroud-- I worry that Levis is coming off like a jerk--can he be a good teammate? Does not seem humble or ready to learn--but this is a meat market. Herndon, to me, is starting to look better and better.
  20. One of his sponsors has recently dropped out. Thought he was a Lion and a Wildcat? I am done with all this comedy for a while.
  21. Favre was likeable. Rodgers is a penis. I have a friend that played in the NFL who knew him and said the late signing with the Jets and Vikings was because he hated camp. Not sure if that is common knowledge or not. He was Oscar worthy in one of my favorite movies, Something about Mary. He played himself--and he nailed it!
  22. Quoting some recent article about interviews at the combine (The Colts did not interview Levis): Levis, 23, met with the Houston Texans (No. 2 pick), Carolina Panthers (No. 9) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (No. 19), according to ESPN's David Newton. All three teams are in desperate need of a top signal caller. He said his visit with the Panthers—and coaches Frank Reich and Josh McCown—went well.
  23. what is it about Green Bay? Did Aaron learn from Brett how to get attention during the offseason? Were all of his friends and loved ones in that dark chamber with him? I think they were.
  24. I think Tremble could be a #3 TE, blocking back (FB)--we loved his blocking at Notre Dame, and then we put Ricci in that role. I dunno. Thomas' contract was nearly as dumb as the Anderson contract, causing me to lose faith in Fitterer (but I do not think he had much choice in the case of Thomas)
