  1. Stroud's first words were, "I am going to be the first great NFL QB from Ohio State." Young's first words were, "Follow the Yellow Brick Road."

  3. In a 3/4, Burns might be everything Watts is in a 3/4. It is going to be a 4-5 year, $120-130m deal. I noticed in free agency, our contracts were longer and seemingly at the top end of the scale for the most part, but the guaranteed $$ was about half the contract.
  4. Here is a different perspective. Do not rule out the importance of a defense to a rookie QB. Playing from behind is often the kiss of death for rookie QBs. I would argue that a stud pass-rushing OLB could have the same impact on the QB's development as a #3 or 4 WR, who might get 5 - 7 targets on a good day.
  5. Ojulari or McDonald IV. We need the pass rusher. I can say that I was at my nephew's drum/band concert at his high school in Ohio just before Thanksgiving (Orange high School in Lewis Center) and Zach Harrison appeared. He went there-and the school is 20 minutes from the OSU campus. He seems to be a great guy. I spoke to him for just a second. He said the drums were so good at his high school games that half the crowd was there to see them. He said that he supports them because they spent 3 years supporting him, and his friends have some younger siblings in the band. He was a specimen, by the way. I asked my brother in law (who was with me) about him--he said that he lacks the dominating pass rush the Buckeyes have had in the past, but he is improving and he is solid. I compare him to YGM. Not a good fit here, imo
  6. I am copying this from ebay, but I purchased this metal plate comic book (8 x 10) about 15-20 years ago--it is in a box or something--but it is really cool and unusual:
  7. No, I see your point, especially about the new QB, but I disagree about the edge rusher / OLB being less valued than a slot WR. I think it is a luxury pick (assuming I said it--someone else, maybe?) is that the need, as stated, is not immediate, wherein the OLB need is immediate. there are a thousand ways to go about this, and we simply have different views--I appreciate the detail because what you say makes sense.
  8. Hey Nebraska, we know how you feel right now. We were once excited about Rhule. We were also once excited about inheriting money from a Prince in Africa if we sent him our credit card information.
  9. So you are saying the need for a WR surpasses that of Rush OLB or CB? How many games have Horn and Jackson missed over the past 2 seasons. At edge we are very thin (Burns, Barno, and Haynes?) Sure, WR is a need, but maybe not a slot WR and maybe not even a priority at this time for 2023. CB and Edge scare me more than WR, right now. Shenault is also on the roster.
  10. I am too. I am also a bit shocked that this is not the biggest--if not the biggest---issue after QB. I look at the #39 pick as one where, if you need an edge rusher, you have to take him there. This draft is deep at edge and a round-1 talent will fall into the second round. Next, you have to go CB. We simply cannot have Henderson and Taylor out there running around like me the first time I played Madden.
  11. I see both QBs being successful in the right system. My position is based on what QB is the best fit considering our staff, OL, WRs, defense, and game plan. Just about all of those are basically unknown right now--new staff, new defense, new offensive philosophy, new WR room, and even our OL--with two guards healing--is unknown for now. Anyone who claims to know the best QB for the Panthers is lying.
  12. I have seen Kincaid from 15 to 45--I am guessing he is long gone by the time the first day ends--however, we don't know. At 39, I would take him in a heartbeat.
  13. That is striking. Love the white helmet and the shoulder stripes. Pretty damn awesome in my view.
  14. Personally, I can't understand why the Patriots went away from this....
  15. I would love him, but if we trade up, we lose our chance to grab a player at a position that is loaded this year--a position of greater need--edge. Currently, we have Burns, Haynes, and Barno. YGM is not a 3-4 Edge; neither is Luvu as his primary position. At WR, we have Chard, Thielen, TMJ, Shenault, and Smith--2 to 3 of them, in my opinion, would be best from the slot. I think we add a WR late or go with 6-5 Preston Williams as the sixth, but the need (on paper, anyway) does not seem to be as great. Flowers is a weapon, but the lack of WRs has him floating up to the first round, when he is probably a second rounder in most drafts.
  16. So what I get from this thread is this: 1. We need a CB 2. Chinn is a good player that we are going to have to be creative to use properly. 3. We need more help on the edge (OLB) 4. There seems to be some confusion about YGM and how he will be used. 5. Luvu will be moved around, but his position seems to be ILB and not OLB/Edge. 6. It would be nice to see LB Smith and Edge Barno step up.
  17. I just wondered, "Were you breastfed properly?" "Did your parents take your Gerbil to run free on the family farm, only to be never seen again?" "Did the person in front of you have more than 15 items in her cart and management at Harris Teeter did nothing about it?"
  18. Folks, I think this has to be defense. I doubt we go WR because WRs suck in this draft after the first round--in our area of need. We signed 2 free agents....TE? Well, we restructured Ian, Tommy is developing, and we signed a veteran. Not seeing that, unless a stud drops to us (kincaid). We need to fill holes on defense--specifically, at edge/olb. We need another CB to backup Jackson and Horn and play nickel and keep Henderson's role limited. I say the #39 pick should be edge--the draft is loaded with edge talent this year. Fish when the fishing is good. We'd have Burns, Haynes, Barno, and the new rookie--that is not great, but a solid rotational OLB/edge would be great, since free agency is not where you go for help. (I do not think YGM plays OLB/edge--think he becomes a pass-rushing DE, but he and Luvu could step into the OLB/edge role in certain situations.) Id like to see us sign a CB like Shaq Griffin so we can focus on depth at: Linebacker, Defensive End, offensive tackle, maybe Safety.
  19. While I have not researched his back injury, Shaq Griffin might be a nice addition to the CB group. He is 27, has been successful, and can't ask for bags of money following a year in which he spent most of the 2022 season on IR. Jax tried to trade him, no takers, so they cut him. I'd hope we'd kick the tires--that is about all I know.
  20. I hear that they hired the guy who designed the Washington Commanders uniforms. Get ready to cheer! Disclaimer: I did not hear that.
  21. I cringed when I saw that in 1995, but i was so excited about a team. I was a colt fan--not used to 3 primary colors. Those numbers look like Walmart. The faces of these guys tells it all. You know they are interns or office workers who got paid $20 to put these on for reporters--and they look a bit embarrassed. Or they should.
  22. It really is. TO be fair--I do not like the blue--you can't see the Panther logo's left whiskers. Throws off the balance.
