  1. they are in chronological order. Please read the post again.
  2. No you are right--I noticed that too. And we are talking about 27 years of drafting. On that site, I eyeballed the amount of time most picks stayed here--3 years was about average.
  3. Stroud should be fine--but there is risk with all QBs--if I had been scrutinized as much as these 22-year old kids have been I would be falling down and off teams' boards like a bullet train bound for hell.
  4. There you go! Nice thought. Made tonight more interesting! I think Levis is going to Indy at #4 and AR will go to a team like Tennessee, Houston (if they draft an Edge at #2 and move up with the #12 for a QB--something I personally expect them to do), or even Minnesota in a trade up with the Seagulls or Motor City Kitties.
  5. Really--I was like, "Where have I heard that name before?"
  6. I get the feeling that this pick will influence the next pick--makes it more likely that we go OL than if drafted a bigger QB--or we are going Edge because my feeling is totally wrong.
  7. Another thread altogether, but the thought did enter my mind. It would be harder to keep that list under 50.
  8. Five offensive linemen and five defensive linemen. Three "other" positions--1 WR and 2 CBs---all need positions now.
  9. Eliminate the first round in your heads. Do it now! To me, the focus for real Panther fans begins with picks 39, 93, and 114 --that will ultimately determine the quality of his draft. This got me to pondering. As I pondered, I asked myself, "Who are the 13 best Panther VALUE picks ever?" I am excluding first rounders because they should perform at the highest levels. Here is a link for reference: https://www.panthers.com/history/draft It is important to remember that this list comes from 27 years of drafting--185 picks between rounds 2 and 7 over that time, and here are the best values from all those picks (the top 7%). Some were good players, not great, but you must consider the round the player was taken vs. his productivity here in Carolina. I could have added Evan Mathis, for example, but he was not productive until he left Carolina, so he did not make the list. Here is my list of the top 13 Panther values after ROUND 1 (performance considering Round selected is factored into the opinion): 1995 Round 4 (132) C Frank Garcia Washington 1995-2000 1999 Round 2 (38) DE Mike Rucker Nebraska 1999-2007 2001 Round 2 (44) DT Kris Jenkins Maryland 2001-07 2001 Round 3 (74) WR Steve Smith Utah 2001-13 2004 Round 3 (94) T Travelle Wharton South Carolina 2004-11, 2013 2007 Round 2 (59) C Ryan Kalil USC 2007-18 2007 Round 3 (83) DE Charles Johnson Georgia 2007-17 2010 Round 6 (175) DE Greg Hardy Mississippi 2010-14 2012 Round 5 (143) CB Josh Norman Coastal Carolina 2012-2015 2013 Round 2 (44) DT Kawann Short Purdue 2013-20 2014 Round 3 (92) G Trai Turner LSU 2014-19 2016 Round 2 (62) CB James Bradberry Samford 2016-19 2017 Round 2 (64) T Taylor Moton Western Michigan 2017-pres Honorable Mention: Charles Godfrey; Jeremy Chinn (too early to tell) Best value overall: Steve Smith. Runners Up: Greg Hardy, Charles Johnson There could be some argument here, but the round counts--if a player in the second round in one draft was a bit better than a sixth rounder on this list, then which was the best VALUE? Several Key Takeaways: 1. Finding talent on day 2 is harder than it looks in mocks. Most of those players do not pan out. To think we can fill 5 holes on draft day is silly. 2. Bill Polian may have found us a path to the Super Bowl by manipulating the expansion provisions, but he SUCKED in the draft. 3. Marty Hurney was actually good at one time. The 2001 (he was with the organization but not GM until 2002) and 2007 drafts were incredible. 4. Once you look through these drafts and see the elite players that emerged from rounds 2-7, it should give you perspective. So if we had 1 need to fill in this draft, where should it be? Edge? CB? WR? G? I think we'd be lucky to find a QB and fill 2 needs effectively. 5. Check out the 2001 draft--Morgan, Jenkins, Smith---sure does explain the 2003 Super Bowl--the 2007 draft with Beason, Kalil, and Charles Johnson was also strong--If Jarrett became a stud, it would have been the best draft. 6. FIve of the 13 were offensive linemen. Just sayin'.
  10. Every player comes with risk. Bresee has a great story (sister-tragic) but he was injured quite a bit.
  11. It will be interesting to see if he has dropped a few pounds, or maybe they are going to use him on running and short yardage situations. He does seem to be an "odd man out" in many ways. However, maybe he was the "odd man out" before, because he was not very productive, save a few flashes here and there.
  12. Come on, MostInterestingMan--he never said that (because the entire Temple team was on the Panther Roster)
  13. POST JETS / PACKERS TRADE It is amazing to see how much a single trade shakes up the draft--no wonder nobody is right--predicting trades is impossible, but each one has a ripple effect. If you think an NCAA bracket is difficult, predicting this draft is ridiculous. I think Houston or Arizona are going to trade out, and that would make the rest " Panthers Bryce Young, QB, Alabama 2 Texans Will Anderson, Edge, Alabama 3. Cardinals Tyree Wilson, Edge, Texas Tech 4. Colts Will Levis, QB, Kentucky 5. Seahawks Jalen Carter, DL, Georgia 6. Titans (trade) Anthony Richardson, QB Florida 7. Vikings Zay Flowers, WR, Boston College 24. Jaguars Michael Mayer, TE, Notre Dame 25. Giants Jack Campbell, LB, Iowa 26. Cowboys Bijan Robinson, RB, Texas 27. Bills Bryan Bresee, DT, Clemson 28. Rams Adetomiwa Adebawore, Edge, Northwestern 37. Seahawks Julius Brents, CB, Kansas State 38. Raiders Steve Avila, OG, TCU 39. Panthers Drew Sanders, LB, Arkansas Rounds 3-5 93. Chander Zavala, OG, North Carolina State 114, Terrell Smith, CB, Minnesota 142. Charlie Jones WR, Purdue Undrafted Free Agents: Eku Leota, Edge, Auburn; Bumper Pool, LB, Oklahoma; Joey Fisher, OL, Shepherd; Keaton Mitchell, RB, East Carolina; Travis Vokolek, TE, Nebraska
  14. If the Panthers announced the pick, it would be stupid. There are many signs that suggest he is the pick, based on those comments. But I appreciate the fact that you bring up some points/possibilities that are not being considered because they Bryce Blinders have been on for a while. Good post.
  15. Right--when you get paid for doing nothing for all these years, you think doing nothing is what they are paying you for. I am a Gamecock fan and thought he was the next Peppers. He is lazy and unmotivated. He plays like someone who really does not love football.
  16. This just in: Sam Darnold is doubtful.
  17. There are enough people who believe in Jackalopes and and the Loch Ness Monster too!! (I now realize that I better be right or this is coming back to haunt me, but I am going all in.) Hope the weather is fine in Area 54. Just having some fun with you--not trying to be insulting. These are the fun days before the draft.
  18. I like Ojulari or OLB Drew Sanders at #39. Either one is fine. Terrell Smith is a sleeper at CB who (I think) will be drafted earlier than many mocks suggest This is very similar to the players that I cannot pass on when mocking--so I have to approve.
  19. I am scared--we seem to be in agreement this year. Either you got dumber or I did.
  20. I see Ringo as a solid pick. I prefer Drew Sanders because he can play OLB vs. the run, rush the passer, and cover. He can be moved inside and pressure the passer. He gives the DC a lot of options. Throw him in with Luvu and Chinn, we are pretty dang versatile. Not sure he will be there. I get the rest of his picks too, but I would not add another #3/4/5 WR to the mix. We have a stable full of those. There, I would add a G to go with the OT. Nothing wrong with adding 2 OL. I might also add a TE, but I really do not think they will go with a WR or TE in this draft. I think it will be OLB/Edge, CB, and OL. If we can address those 3 areas, I am a happy camper.
  21. Just think--you will get immediate satisfaction and pleasure by telling everyone that you were right!!! Or this won't happen and you will change your username. To assume that you know more than the experts is beyond arrogant and silly. Your concerns have been expressed. If being the rain cloud drenching everyone's hope is your thing, you do you.
