  1. Those were points generated by the defense by and large.
  2. Nice performance by an “offensive genius.” Some really great clock management.
  3. We poo on McDermott when he was our DC (he was lovingly known as “mcderpit”). Yet I’d say he’s got Buffalo rolling and he’s not a 35 year old offensive coordinator and wasn’t when he was hired.
  4. I think he’s saying if Tepper likes him it’s unquestionably the wrong hire.
  5. Aaron rodgers and Joe burrow may have had something to do with the success of Lafleur and Taylor. McDaniel had the exact same record this year that Flores had last year with Miami. Stefanski just finished up his second straight losing season and Cleveland fans want him out.
  6. Exactly what I said in the other thread and got poo on by a few posters @TheCasillasnamely. Tepper is the most predictable and incompetent owner ever. He’s making the exact same mistake he made with Rhule by fawning over the hot candidate. I doubt anyone else is even being seriously considered and it’s just window dressing.
  7. Typical groupthink. NFL execs are afraid to step outside the box because it’s a copycat league. Right now the “in” thing is <40 year old offensive coordinator. Wilks obviously doesn’t fit that mold so he’s not going to get interviews. Why is that so hard to understand? Doesn’t mean he isn’t the right guy for our job.
  8. He fell hard for Matt Rhule like a 30-year-old virgin at a sorority party then proceeded to give him a contract that was about double the length and pay of what he should have received as an unproven college coach. His reasoning: Rhule sweats a lot and dresses like me and he used to be a fry cook. Seems pretty well thought out to me.
  9. He asked "how is the search going?" He didn't ask about Johnson, Tepper himself volunteered that information. You are being naive here. Tepper is about as simple minded as they come. He probably decided he wanted Johnson two months ago beacuse he's attracted to shiny objects. Again, nothing against the guy and I hope he does great but I just see a lot of parallels to the "process" we went through with Rhule and we all know how that worked out.
  10. See the tweet from back in December? Sounds like Tepper has already said who he wanted. Now it’s just a matter of finalizing it. Hopefully the hot name works out this time.
  11. Stand corrected on that point. Let’s remember this conversation when he’s announced as our head coach in a week or so.
  12. No need to be a smart ass. Our owner has a very simple brain, especially for being a billionaire. I have no idea how he made so much money to be as dumb as he is. Our next coach will be Ben Johnson unless we get outbid, which is not likely.
  13. Remember this? And now we already have a second interview with no reports that any of our other candidates have received that. Read between the lines.
  14. I don’t have anything against ben Johnson and he might be a good head coach but I feel like Tepper is being extremely short sighted again and going all out for the hot name. That’s what got us in the Rhule mess. I know there are obvious differences in coaching background, experience, etc but to me these young OC’s either hit or they crash and burn. And they only hit when they get paired with a star QB, which is the obvious formula for winning in the NFL. Wilks did more with less. He earned a shot but he probably won’t get it. Let’s just hope mr. brass balls isn’t doing this whole thing again 3 years from now. Color me pessimistic.
  15. I imagine she tossed a pan full of uneaten meatballs in the garbage and they both died laughing. Got ‘em.
  16. looking back we announced Rhule on 1/7/2020 lol. Tepper just couldn’t help himself from tripping all over his dick with that one.
  17. If this hire doesn't work we are officially the Browns and Jets. That'll be 7 straight years of bad football under Tepper.
  18. How many times do we have to say that tanking doesnt work in the NFL. What new coach will want to come in here with corral and PJ Walker as his QB options?
  19. Cart before the horse has been the story of this franchise since he took over.
  20. He’s pulling a Lebron. Gonna take some time to look for a super team so he can win another title. He’s too mentally weak for a rebuild apparently. Why would he even consider this job?
  21. People don’t seem to understand how limited this roster is offensively. Our QB room is bottom 2 in the league with Houston, we have absolutely zero receiving threats at tight end and we have a #1 receiver who’s really #2 guy at best. Wilks nor any other coach can make that offense look explosive. He did a great job with what he had.
  22. We had one of the most prolific offensive seasons ever under a defensive head coach. Do you guys really think that Burrow and Mahomes etc are really good because they have “offensive coaches.” McVay is an offensive genius and looks like dogshit without a good QB this year. Whoever is the coach needs to fix the offensive personnel and the team will be good and have a chance to win a lot of games. You don’t need a 35 year old offensive coordinator to win.
  23. I want to know what football people are helping with this decision because it sounds a lot like the way he went about the process last time. Mr self-assured. https://www.si.com/nfl/2019/12/12/david-tepper-carolina-panthers-cam-newton-head-coach-search-nfl-meetings Tepper’s not hiring help. Many new owners will reach out and hire search firms (like Korn Ferry) or well-worn advisors (like Ron Wolf or Ernie Accorsi). In some cases it’s to give them cover in the face of inexperience—if things go wrong, it’s much easier to explain it if you have somewhere to point the finger. Tepper, to his credit, has no plans to go that route So as they’ve gotten going, and the Panthers are starting to narrow their list, and doing all kinds of background work (one advantage to moving on from Rivera when they did was being able to start in earnest on that), Tepper himself is running point. “It’ll be primarily by the organization,” he said. “That doesn’t mean I won’t have a couple people I might listen to. If I talk to a couple of my fellow owners about different things, it doesn’t mean I won’t do that. But if you’re asking about formally hiring a search firm, I don’t think we’ll be formally hiring a search firm. That doesn’t mean I won’t talk to people who may be at search firms, that doesn’t mean I won’t talk to other owners.
