I am rooting for the GIANTS tonight and you should too!
BIGH2001 replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
We already know the NFL is a year to year league. Our 1-15 team was in the super bowl two years later. It’s about finding the right coach and QB. Miss on either of those and you’re not winning a title. -
I’m glad we didn’t get Watson either. The two year pursuit was more what I was alluding to. It made us look stupid and desperate.
-
I think Tepper is a league wide joke. He got played by watson’s people, Stafford laughed in his face and then went to LA, and he gave one of the most absurd coaching contracts in history to Rhule. I’m sure loomis and Payton are sitting around laughing at him. He’ll make a ridiculous offer which will promptly be used as leverage to get Houston and/or Denver to up the ante.
-
That makes Matt Rhule’s stupid contract look minor in comparison.
-
NFL is year to year anyway. I want a super bowl. I’d sacrifice a few seasons of mediocrity for a super bowl win. But I don’t think payton is one and done either.
-
If we wanted Payton so bad it would be nice to have those first round picks from the rams right now.
-
We’ve heard before that Tepper wants a guy with previous HC experience. I think it’s either Payton or Reich if Payton says no.
-
He clearly doesn’t have the mentality of the average person. Gave up being married to a supermodel so he could come back for an 8-9 team.

45 year old Tom Brady watches his guy go off on a stretcher. It’s time to hang it up dude.

Panthers receive permission to interview Sean Payton
BIGH2001 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I mean his track record is pretty piss poor. Rhule and Deshaun Watson on the football side. Then there’s rock hill and the Tepper Sports and Entertainment execs mysteriously disappearing. I can’t imagine what it’s like to work for this guy. I imagine he comes in with some off the wall idea and yells at Fitterer to find a way to make it happen. -

Here’s our resident hockey guru who always comes around to remind us he doesn’t care about the team anymore. -

George Seifert vibes? -
Huntley is running laps in Rhule’s mind. Never reach over the goal line.
-
Those were points generated by the defense by and large.

Nice performance by an “offensive genius.” Some really great clock management.

Tepper enamored with Ben Johnson per Person
BIGH2001 replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
We poo on McDermott when he was our DC (he was lovingly known as “mcderpit”). Yet I’d say he’s got Buffalo rolling and he’s not a 35 year old offensive coordinator and wasn’t when he was hired. -

I think he’s saying if Tepper likes him it’s unquestionably the wrong hire. -

Aaron rodgers and Joe burrow may have had something to do with the success of Lafleur and Taylor. McDaniel had the exact same record this year that Flores had last year with Miami. Stefanski just finished up his second straight losing season and Cleveland fans want him out. -

Exactly what I said in the other thread and got poo on by a few posters @TheCasillasnamely. Tepper is the most predictable and incompetent owner ever. He’s making the exact same mistake he made with Rhule by fawning over the hot candidate. I doubt anyone else is even being seriously considered and it’s just window dressing. -
Staley is an idiot.
-
You have no way of knowing this.
-
Typical groupthink. NFL execs are afraid to step outside the box because it’s a copycat league. Right now the “in” thing is <40 year old offensive coordinator. Wilks obviously doesn’t fit that mold so he’s not going to get interviews. Why is that so hard to understand? Doesn’t mean he isn’t the right guy for our job.
-
He fell hard for Matt Rhule like a 30-year-old virgin at a sorority party then proceeded to give him a contract that was about double the length and pay of what he should have received as an unproven college coach. His reasoning: Rhule sweats a lot and dresses like me and he used to be a fry cook. Seems pretty well thought out to me.
-
He asked "how is the search going?" He didn't ask about Johnson, Tepper himself volunteered that information. You are being naive here. Tepper is about as simple minded as they come. He probably decided he wanted Johnson two months ago beacuse he's attracted to shiny objects. Again, nothing against the guy and I hope he does great but I just see a lot of parallels to the "process" we went through with Rhule and we all know how that worked out.
