I know. I was just piling on. I should change my name to pot stirrer.

Nah, give me grab ass on the stage Tepper. At least his sins are out in the open, maybe. I don't mind the wife butt clinch myself. At least Tepper is trying to improve the team. He's just struggling to get it done, much like his Appaloosa World in Rock Hill. My thing with Tepper is he hasn't shown that same fervor in finding a person to direct him, or teach him if you will, as to how to build a successful football team. It's difficult as a fan to sit through his learning on the fly. Rant over.

KC looking to trade up into top 10.
Jon Snow replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
Also, slow and steady has nothing to do with anything. You build with whatever you can scrape up to make at team. Until you have a qb you are building. Whether it's "slow and steady" is predicated on how well your FO is at identifying talent and have the capability of acquiring them. So this "new" way of building is just repackaged "going all in" that fans think is what's holding their team back. -

But throwing that much at a rookie wr that has a good chance of being a bust doesn't seem like a sound choice. They could trade all that for a young proven wr and it would make more sense. -

That sounds like a lot to pay for a rookie wr. I would say it's more of an offer to trade those picks for a young up and coming star on a reasonable contract to me. Better hide DJ or Fitterer might be tempted to trade him for some picks. -

Why would they want to be in the top 10? I'm calling BS. -
I agree. Unfortunately, it also makes him extremely attractive as trade bait. That worries me with this FO. The rumors of young players being available for trade is sticking in the back of my mind as this offseason drags on.

Panthers may now be hesitant to trade back...

Next year’s QB crop is better. Let’s wait until then.

Even if Rhule is still here he should still take one anyway. There's no depth and the odds one of these guys in this draft being a star right out of the gate is astronomically against it. If he takes one in this draft it's a start at rebuilding the group. I hope he's learned his lesson with reclamation projects but that's yet to be determined. The wild card is Tepper. He still thinks he can buy a franchise qb. He wants a face for the franchise that will fix everything, especially with the fickle fans. They will not pass on another qb this time. -
You will not get an argument from me. Unfortunately they've tried everything but to draft one. At some point they will be forced to draft a QB. I thought they were at that point last year.

If you hadn't noticed we don't have a lot of choices at the position right now. The position also has a ton of cap tied up. The only solution to digging out is the draft. They need more than one rookie contract at that position and the draft is the best place to start. So look for them to draft one every year until the find one that sticks. -
Be prepared for anything my friend. This current front office seems hell bent on getting a "franchise" qb no matter the cost. If you go by what they've said publicly next year's picks are not off the table. Now I do not think they would necessarily resort to that but I would not rule it out. Given the state of things in Panthers land getting a QB has always been at the top of the list. Yes, a LT is still a top wish list but it's always been number 2 in the team's view, or should I say Teppers. They will take a qb somewhere in this draft. No, he won't be a franchise qb right out of the box. Yes, he will be better than what is currently on the roster. The only thing that will stop them from getting one is not getting an opportunity to pick any of them.

I was thinking more of trading back into the late 1st early 2nd. Fitterer is not opposed to use players as trade bait for a draft slot. He's mentioned it on more than one occasion. He seems itching to try it at least.

Don't worry friend, they will be drafting a qb next year even if one is taken in this draft. -
The Panthers are going after a qb in this draft. I just don't know which one and where. My guess is it will involve trading up but at what cost I haven't a clue.

I'm getting the feeling Fitterer would trade a young promising player for a couple of picks in this draft. He mentioned that as an option in the video from the conference and again in the interview on the way back. It was a strange thing to throw out there, twice. I think he's trolling the waters first more picks already and it's not coming from next year.

Obvserver’s Alexander interview with Fitterer
Jon Snow replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
My take is that they have their selection for LT and QB narrowed down. But the plan is to trade down to hopefully get both. But if they stay at 6 I would not be surprised if they don't take an edge rusher. The Huddler will implode killing a million hamsters. If they do manage to trade down I get the feeling it will be for Penning and Ridder or Howell. The top 3 QB's will probably be gone before their next pick they trade down to and even if one is there I feel they would take Penning over him. Then they could get the QB with their next pick, either late 1st or 2nd round. I'm not buying what the team is selling with all this QB interest being displayed publicly. Nope, I smell a rat. -
Have not heard his name mentioned in years. I thought he was out of the league a long time ago. Anyway, he wasn't good when he was younger so I can't imagine him being any better now.
-
How old is he now,50?
-
I get that. I was probably that way at one point in my life. As I grew older I learned that the strong competition you face is what makes or breaks you. What glory is there in beating up on a weakling? I just think the game is better when there is more great coaches and great teams. My old ass opinion anyway.
