A very technical writeup of our new QB Matt Corral
Jon Snow replied to electro's horse's topic in Carolina Panthers
The only opinion that matters is what the team thinks of the player and what they think they can accomplish with them. Outside noise is mostly butthurt writers and prognosticators who got their evaluations and "big boards" completely wrong because they are not as good at evaluation as they thought they were. In short. -
Maybe they drew straws and it came up Corral? It really doesn't matter because it was a push on which one may succeed. After that they would just have to wait to see how the draft fell. They knew Pittsburgh was taking either Pickett or Willis so those two were scratched. It was just a matter of hoping Corral made it out of the 1st. As the draft unfolded I was so happy that they didn't get antsy and cough up a haul for one of the remaining projects. I'm sure they wanted to but cooler heads prevailed. So now they sweated through the 2nd round and Corral and Howell are mysteriously still their and fans were wondering how they got this so wrong. But Fitterer said enough is enough, we have to get the short straw guy now because someone is going to take a chance on this guy and traded up with our old pal Bilicheat. They rest as they say is history.

Game tape supercedes measuring tape. I've heard that uttered in some form or another for Fitterer and several other GM's. It's matters less and less the further you drop in the draft because by then you are just going by the swag method. But what matters most to the brass is how they play in games against better competition and were they consistent. Do they have enough games under their belt to have enough to judge them fairly? Minus any if that then it's pick you preferred measurement and throw darts. Ours seem to be speed.

CBS Sports gives Carolina a C- for the Draft
Jon Snow replied to chknwing's topic in Carolina Panthers
A typical Hurney draft. A good 1st round selection and crap after that. -
I've come to accept it. Now I'm just going to watch it all play out.

I guess we will get to see if it will work or not in the coming seasons. Because barring a complete collapse Rhule's not going anywhere for a few more seasons.

The approach. The approach transcend coaching changes.

Round 3 Pick 94: Panthers Select Matt Corral - QB Ole Miss
Jon Snow replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
Of course they are. This season is a turning point for the team. While this appears to be a good draft for us it doesn't mean everything is going to magically be gold. They will need to add another QB after next next season whether Corral starts or not. Because Sam Darnold would have to completely transform himself into Josh Allen stay here. And for the love of football draft someone to invest in for the future beyond the current group. I don't care what Fitterer said the future is not on the roster until he shows it on the field. I would love to see some forward thinking in BOA for once. Is that too much to ask? -
Your hero's may not be as invincible as you think.

Round 3 Pick 94: Panthers Select Matt Corral - QB Ole Miss
Jon Snow replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
In my head i have come to accept all of that. The thought of watching Sam down his swan song as a starting qb next season doesn't trigger me like so many on here. I've watched much worse. My heart wants PJ on the practice squad or in the USFL. He serves absolutely no purpose on this team. Sorry PJ, just business. -
That's music to my ears.

If we draft a QB, I want Carson Strong

They are not having a good weekend. -
C'mon man, give him your cornbread. You ain't gonna eat it anyway.

Round 3 Pick 94: Panthers Select Matt Corral - QB Ole Miss
Jon Snow replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah that's the first thing they will have to work out of him. They'll have to get him on a weight and conditioning program that's going to help him survive in the NFL. I still think he's a full season project to get ready for live bullets. Maybe I'm wrong and he adapts quickly. I'm just happy we have something to watch other than Sam failing miserably. Although I'm still not convinced they don't trade for someone else to start the season. -

That makes me want the guy even more. -
There's no talent left in Hollywood. Eddie Murphy set the tone back then. One of my favorite movies of all time is Harlem Nights. I miss Redd Foxx, that man was a master comedian. But I digress.

I almost have it memorized. The movie has some many great lines in it.

You can't win either way.

Don't bother.

How long are they going to use that excuse? They are starting to realize that they may have screwed the pooch on that one.
