Story on the Joe Brady situation from Charles Robinson..

I may not be a smart man but i know what a train wreck waiting to happen looks like. -
That would seem to be the logical choice. But I left my crystal ball in my other pants.
-
That would be shocking to say the least. It would mean an already thin team would have to give up a roster spot to make that happen. Which spot do you give up for Darnold or PJ?

Panthers/Patriots Joint Practice Day 1 Write-up
Jon Snow replied to t96's topic in Carolina Panthers
Finally! Someone posting something we can actually use to form some clarity with. Thank you @t96for doing all this. I'm out of pie but If i could i would give you a whole pie. -
I can't believe the infamous wildcat game was left off the lists. That was one of the funniest games I've ever watched. I don't think we thru a single pass against the Falcons that day and we still won.

It's no big secret that's for sure. It may have been sketchy at first due to the head start on the playbook Sam had but it became clear quickly that Sam was not a real threat to start. This whole experiment was to sort out the qb depth chart going into the season. The only real competition is between Sam and PJ for the backup spot this season and this season only until Corral earns it.
-
Because he said it would be "announced" after the game? He said nothing about the game itself being a deciding factor.
-
He won't be after today. Unless he wins the starter competition of course.
-
I guess the plan is to play the starters more in the final preseason game.
-
I seriously doubt they will keep 4 on the 53. Someone is getting cut between Sam and PJ.
-
Well to be honest he really was out of options at the qb spot at that point and he tried everything else. Granted it was of his own making.

2nd and 3rd string expected most tmrw night

It makes sense if he's the best backup option we have on the team at the moment. Seems there's not much trust in Sam to be the guy to be a backup much less starter. It also appears that McAdoo is the one driving the audition experiment with PJ. All the reps for PJ in these games are starting to make sense if that is truly what they are up to. -
It appears that it may indeed be the case. It would be shocking if they outright cut Sam however and anointed PJ the backup position without head to head competition. I guess PJ is auditioning for the backup position after all. I suppose Corral is just getting some live bullets action to see what he's made of.
-
I doubt he seriously plans to run a 2 qb system. Baker would have to start turning the ball over a lot before he's benched.
-
Dropping a game seamed to have changed the way teams approach it. I guess we shall see if it improves the game in the long run. I suppose once you understand what's really going on in preseason it will start to make sense.
-
Now that is an odd way to do it. If its just those two playing I would have assumed it would be for an entire half each. Just from a rhythm standpoint.
-
I would not say that just yet.
-
Well in this case we are expecting to lose the game. The upside is we get to see how the backups measure up to going against starters on another team. The backups to the backups get to compete to be backups. It will look worse for the Patriots to lose this game in this case so it's a win/win if you look at it that way. Or, you can continue to bitch and moan and miss out on what's really going on.

It will certainly test Rhule's "earn it" philosophy if PJ out plays Sam to be the backup.
