I think they will be forced to draft one as I doubt Baker is going to play well enough to warrant a long term contract. Sam will be gone after this season and there's no way PJ deserves a spot on the team anywhere, even to PS. So you are left with a middling Baker and Carroll coming off IR who is still an unknown 3rd round pick. I would not gamble my career on that qb room. I would take another shot at one and let him compete with Matt and may the best qb win.

Just said on nfl network that Corral is having surgery. Rhule says it a major injury.

They will have to draft one anyway. Sam won't be here and Corral will just be another rookie that has no playing time but may know the playbook, assuming the same staff is here. If rhule is gone there's a real good chance the qb room will be overhauled as well. Corral will be the only qb on the roster under contract and he will have zero further development when the new staff roles in. Fun times.

Hell they may even draft 2. Corral is the only one signed beyond this season. I don't count PJ as he should not be here in the first place.

The Panthers are drafting a QB next year whether it's Rhule or a new coaching staff.

You will get a clue how much playing time PJ will get from the joint practices with the Bills this week. Rhule better name his starter by the beginning the first practice next week. You are missing one important detail in your theory. You didn't account for time and pressure. Rhule doesn't have time to waste on PJ as he's under pressure to produce this season. PJ doesn't afford him the option to keep him around if he's not even better than Sam. Rhule has to get busy developing his new draft pick for next season because he's on the clock with the qb's.

You folks are expecting too much from Corral right now. Like it or not they are bringing him along slowly. Whether he's going to be anything or not will not be known this season.

PJ couldn't afford that mistake. Kirkwood better make the team. That guy catches everything that touches his hands.

Backups are holding their own for the most part. I'm a little impressed to be honest. I thought they would be down 3 touchdowns by now.

Probably. This is reminiscent of how things worked in the older days of the nfl. 30 or 40 years ago this would not have raised an eyebrow. Then steroids became popular and you see where that went. The players would take anything they could to get on the field to keep playing. The coaches and owners didn't give a crap.
