I agree the FA is going to effect this draft when it comes to QB. Where Rpsges goes will cause projection adjustments league wide. Carr may not depending where he goes in the nfcs, if that is where he goes. If the Ravens flip LJ for a butt load of picks look for them to work out a trade with the Bears if they can. If they do flip him I hope it's not to us.

Still don't like it. Giving more than one top 10 pick for any of these qb's is too rich for my taste. None are worth more than that to risk giving up for.

It seems everything hinges on what the Bears do with that 1st pick. Huston and the Colts will go qb with their picks no doubt. If the bears do trade it then everything is turned upside down.
-
Well they really cannot go into the season banking on Corral. They will never do that. There will be another rookie added and a vet, maybe 2 going into camp. Mark my words.
-
I think trading back would be a last resort. And then only if we get a great deal. My initial prediction is the stay at 9 for the time being. I may change that by the time the draft rolls around.

How will this coaching team effect free-agency?
Jon Snow replied to rayzor's topic in Carolina Panthers
If I could move I would move to a state that doesn't have income taxes. Yes, they make it up in other ways, but depending on your income level it does matter. For poor folks like me it's debatable whether it will make a difference but its worth looking into if you are considering retirement, like me. -
That's a given. The rest will be determined after those 2 picks. Nothing will start to come into focus until we see if the Bears trade the 1st pick before they have to make the selection. Until that happens you will not know who may go where.

I don't know what to think about Corral. I know Fitterer is high on him. That should get him a shot to show what he's got this season. Not saying he can or will become anything here but he will get a chance. I'm also not a fan of signing Carr either. If they consider him I think it will be closer to the draft if he's still available. The starter for this season will be interesting to try to predict.

It comes down to opportunities. I'm sure they will feel out the teams above us to see if there is a chance to move up without crippling the team. But if you can't get a trade partner they will just have to hope someone starts to fall. Otherwise, if they can't move up they may move out for more picks next year and take a shot at one in the second this year. It's not the best position to be in if they must have a top 3 qb.
-
I hope I'm wrong as well. But given the circumstances they will need someone with experience to start the season. The other option is to start Corral and try to get the new rookie ready as soon as possible. Neither option is appealing. I'm not in favor of Carr coming here for 30-40 mil per for 2 or 3 years. But like I've repeatedly said its not my call. I'm just trying to determine what the team is thinking. Given that Reich tried to bring him to Indy I would not discount the possibility.

That's not what I'm gathering from this board. What I'm hearing is that if the team doesn't trade everything for Young or Stroud they aren't "taking a shot" at a young qb and are therefore doomed to mediocrity.
-
The Panthers are signing a qb in FA. You might as well prepare yourself for that. The only thing left to figure out is whether they are bluffing about going all in for one of these rookie prospects.
-
I'm saying that if the Panthers do not trade the farm to get the #1 pick or trade up for any of the top 4 picks but rather take someone else at 9 for qb or a qb later in the draft would it still be considered "taking a shot" on an unknown rookie?
-
You don't try to trade until draft day. And again, is it only classified as "taking a shot" if it's for your preferred qb and not someone else?
-
I think Dugan and Bennett go higher than most think.
-
You can add USC to that list as well.
-
I agree with you in most respects but I would not fixate on OSU qb's. But that's just me.
-
Of course they will. We would get raped. There's not a qb is this draft worth getting raped over.
-
I never suggested they would pass on him at 9. I suggested that they may not be willing to trade up for him. I seriously doubt they pass on any of the so called top 3 at 9.
-
Now he's the passing game coordinator. He's not calling plays anymore obviously.
-
How do you know that the staff feel the same way about Stroud as you do? From every ranking I've taken the time to look at has the qbs ranked like this. 1. Young 13 thru 15 Stroud, Levis, AR. Or. 3. Young 13-14. Stroud, Levis 25-28. AR
-
So he's getting a promotion. Who was his understudy?
-
What I gather is that the shot everyone is speaking of is a shot on their preferred qb. If it's not their preferred guy then it's not considered taking a shot?

I have no say in the matter so I will have to roll with whoever they bring in. Whether it's thru the draft, FA or both. How do you like me now?
