They meet with area scouts and discuss their players that they have scouted and discuss how they ranked them and what it was based on. They do that for probably as many as 30 or 40 players per position depending on their needs. With QBs it may be only the top 10 and so on. Then the coaches decided how they want to rank them according to their fit. That's when things can go off the rails.

Then it may or may not be a Dan thing. Just saying you cannot assume what Dave prefers because he worked with what he was given.

Are we now actively pulling for David Tepper to fail?
Jon Snow replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Panthers
It just goes to show he's still too involved with the day to day football decisions. -
It doesn't have to be unified. It can be anything want want to say about how they feel about the state of the team. The funnier the better.
-
Was he involved in the decisions to draft any of those guys? Because if not then that assumption has no basis.

My prediction in 3 years - Panthers return to their roots
Jon Snow replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
I predict that none of that happens. Mrs.Tepper will take over and call the shots before any of that goes down. -
At some point the TV stations will pick up on it and ask Tepper directly.

Jeremy Fowler: Panthers aren’t eager to trade Diontae Johnson
Jon Snow replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
The comp pick is dependent on how many FA you sign and their contract value. You cannot count on that unless you play for it and not sign anyone other than scrubs with cheap contracts. Even then it counts against you as it may turn into a 7th round pick or none at all. -
Hell make your own sign and put it in your yard. If enough people do that it will get attention.

They find as many players as they can that fits what the coaches are looking for. The coaches and GM sort them out and set their board.

If someone offers even a 2nd you take it and never look back. No way in hell they are getting a 1st for him. It's going to be a 4th at best. -
Fantasy football is ruining the way some of y'all think.

None of that's fine. It influences the coaches decisions. That's what Dan is for. -
Mike Kaye: Panthers might start Bryce Young final 7 games
Jon Snow replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I look at it as accelerating his exit from them. Tepper has to accept that Young cannot play in this league and the only way that happens is to throw his narrow ass back out there for a couple of games and watch him fail yet again. Not my rules it's Teppers. -

It is directly involving himself in the daily activities of the coaches. If he were having a meeting with the managers of each department, of which Canales is not, I might agree. He can meet with Dan all he likes outside of football decisions. But at no time should he be discussing anything related to the football coaching or player related issues with anyone other than Dan Morgan. -
Stop the obsession with the QB position
Jon Snow replied to TheMaulClaw's topic in Carolina Panthers
I hate to tell you this but it's not the fans that run the team. You are wasting your breath on fans. David Tepper is the Ringmaster of this circus and all we can do is watch. Whether you buy a ticket or peep under the tent it's still his circus and you are just an observer. -

The only way he signs with the worst team in the league is if he is in it for money and we pay him the most. If he wants to be on a better team with a better qb so he can win and make even more bank while also getting recognition then he's out of here as soon as he can. -

I'd like to know if he still having his Monday morning meetings. If he is he's still involved. -
Mike Kaye: Panthers might start Bryce Young final 7 games
Jon Snow replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
If they don't play him again this season and let him embarrass Tepper enough to throw in the towel you will see Young on the roster next season and we start this circle jerk all over again. I would rather get it over with as soon as possible. -

If that's what it takes to end this experiment once and for all then I'm all for it. Send his ass out there and tell him to cut it lose. Make Tepper eat that humiliation until he cannot take it anymore. He owns this. -

We don't have to pull for him to fail. He's already failed at everything he's touched since he bought the team. I'm actually hoping he does something right for once. What a dumb question. -

Sounds like a different way of saying if the offer is enough we'll listen. -
I doubt they stay status quo on qb. Of course it will come down to who's available and at what cost. It's impossible for me to believe the Young will get another shot here. It would be another exercise in futility that I don't think anyone wants to see again. There will some sort of competition brought in. Whether its a journeyman vet or a shot at a draft pick is yet to be seen. Dalton may or may not want to resign here if he has any other options.
-
You are assuming there's going to be a qb rated that high. What little I've seen of the names being thrown around I'm not so sure there's a 1st rounder among them let alone in the top 5. Maybe that will change as the college season plays out but right now there's no amount of hype going to make them top picks they way i see it.
