so are we done with the "answer is on the roster" era?
Jon Snow replied to rayzor's topic in Carolina Panthers
The only thing that's clear to me is that they took this offseason and preseason to evaluate the entire roster. Not just a few positions, every position. Those that are not cutting it are replaced. It doesn't matter how long they've been here or how much they are loved by the fans. I like that approach. I have a feeling it's not over and will not be for a few seasons to come as long as Dan and Dave are in charge.- 32 replies

He also said there were exceptions. Sam Mills would agree I'm sure. -

Morgan managed to get another pick out of the CMC trade. That's pretty slick. I also got a good chuckle out of that guy. He's pretty pissed.

My guess Moore was kept for his receiving abilities and as for Ian I really don't know. I would say a lot of it had to do with who had a better grasp of the offense at this point, maybe? I would not worry too much about it as those two are only here as placeholders until the have a better option. It appears they plan to feature the TE a lot so it would explain only carrying 5 wr.

Jaycee Hornβs future with the Panthers

If they have no intent to sign him to a large contract then take the best offer while they still have the leverage. -
How long will the Carolina Panthers rebuild take?
Jon Snow replied to jayboogieman's topic in Carolina Panthers
Nah it may not be as bad as it appears everywhere but it's better than it was. How much better is yet to be seen. I would temper my expectations out of the gate. -

Ask me after the season. -
It will be Bryce and Andy this season. Next seasons roster will be determined by how this season plays out. Andy is only the backup for now. Plummer is a placeholder.

Notebook: Dave Canales "open" to playing starters Saturday
Jon Snow replied to Carolina Panthers's topic in Carolina Panthers
For a team predicted to win less than 5 games this season you guys are sure making a big deal out of preseason. -
He was a backup in Dallas before he signed here if my memory serves me correctly. It's been a while and I've slept since then.

Different perspective for not starting the starters in preseason...

I think if you move your question to the end of your post it will make things clearer. -

I forgot where he went to college and didn't want to look foolish. I guess I did anyway. -

I didn't see that coming. It better be for a but load of 1st round picks. -
Luton will be on the practice squad before Plummer. But remember this, any qb you put on the practice squad will get poached as soon as someone needs one. Would you want to put a lot of time in developing a qb for someone else? If anything they will bring someone like Luton in to backup Andy if something were to happen to Bryce. I forsee 2 scenarios that could play out as a result of how Bryce does this season. He could continue on his current trajectory where the team will be forced to change course and look for a replacement in the next draft, assuming there is one to be had. Which would add even more uncertainty and more scenarios we will not discuss in this exercise. He could play well enough to buy him another season and the Panthers time to improve the competition behind him. Either through free agency or the draft. That's my view from the nose bleed section.

I love your optimism but I would not put any money on that.
