If the team holding the 1st pick wants to trade it they probably should reconsider. Chicago realistically should have drafted their qb last year. But they got lucky and found a sucker dumber than they were.

That's because it never works out. The Panthers will recover from it next season but the scars still remain. If Bryce turns into anything it will still not recoup that short term cost. Long term they are not crippled which is all that matters.

The trade up compounds the mistake. It's bad enough when you've earned your way organically to that pick. But when you trade up for it? You better get the best of the bunch. And then that player may not live up to the expectations of being the franchise savior. There's no saving some franchises but 1 player never solves enough to get you over the top.

That's a small list.

I'm not expecting anything. I'm just trying to predict what I'm in for this season.

No just 1st overall picks. My point is that just because they are the 1st overall pick doesn't guarantee a damn thing. Doesn't mean anything other than a team had their choice and picked them 1st. Doesn't make them super human and a guaranteed franchise changer. History teaches us that to those that choose to listen.

Were they the only two 1st overall? Stafford was worth it but Palmer? Meh.

I bet you go back even further the list will not get better.

I'm glad there are no Monday or Thursday night games. I hate those games. I always have to watch them on mute.

It happens all the time. Last year we were winning the nfcs and look how that turned out. Things change quickly when the games start to matter.

Well there you go. Then wins must come from the offense.

It always is when you go all in like that.

Last season highlighted a lot of things wrong with this team. Reality slapped a lot people in the face, hard. It needed to. It seemed to have woke the Teppers up to the situation but whether Dave has made the right choices in his FO and coaches only time will tell. Dan seems to have a long leash to clean this up. It's going to take a few more offseasons to build this thing, especially if they are looking for a qb next season.

This team is always a team of 1st's. But they are always the things you don't want to be 1st in. I cringe every time the opponent has a chance to be the 1st to do something against the Panthers. They have a 100% chance of success.

I'm trying to remember when the defense last helped us win a game in the last 5 years. If they can keep the score low and stop the run it would be an improvement. I've got a feeling it will be as good or better than last years group.

Say it a little louder one more time for those that don't get it. The fear and angst over this is getting crazy.

If you won't an unbiased opinion you would post every pass each threw in 2023 and let the viewer decide which ones are elite without your input.

I have a question for the class. How many 1st overall picks that were qb's and not named Cam Newton have there been in the last decade that amounted to anything let alone the title of 1st over pick?

It will probably come down to the offense he creates for this team. If he comes up with something that is suited to his players then he might have a chance.
