I would be thrilled with pretty good. From where I'm sitting they look somewhere between a smoking crap filled baby diaper to swamp ass.

Well we do know this, after two games he is not the worst qb in the league that's for damn sure.

They were paper thin because dipsh*t couldn't build a complete team to save his life. It takes time to build a team when you can only hit on 1st round picks in the top 10. That's why it took 10 years to get back to the nfcc game.

I didn't say anything was wrong with it, just that's really all he wanted to do. It wasn't about versatility or being able to counter different schemes in the conference. It was about sticking to his veterans he managed to collect and force his will on the rest of the league. It worked briefly until his defense got old and broken. The getting old is on him and dipsh*t for not being able to build a defense that can adapt to its players. You will never be able to build just one type of defense in today's league because the players for that are too limited. Versatility is the new normal and it took a relic of a defensive coordinator to show the league that.

That's what he relied on. He just couldn't work with or develop rookies. If he got a great player he rode them into the ground without care or consideration for the player longevity or developing someone behind them to take over when he finally broke them. Good riddance.

It takes some forward thinking and a lot of experience in football. It also helps if you have elephant size balls to draw on things that not a single one of his peers had the courage or know how to be able to pull it off. We need more coaches like that.

He did with the talent he inherited. He admitted soon after his hire here that he preferred a 4-3. Why? No clue.

The Athletic not very impressed with Sam Darnold

Sounds about like half this board. For me? I am cautiously optimistic by the early returns. Hell I'm optimistic about the team as a whole. -

I'm not referring to the talking heads. I talking other teams. To hell with what the media thinks or says. -
That's because he only knows about 2 styles of defense, the 4-3 and that 3-4 thing he keeps hearing about. He can build you a good 4-3 style defense but it's not versatile enough to confuse anyone. It relies solely on having better one on one match-ups. He mimicked the 85 Bears defense and that is all he knows.

It means you are so young and inexperienced that you are practically right out of your mama's womb.

I would prefer this as well. But I'm not an offensive line coach. I have to remind myself that these offensive line kids are not conditioned for the long nfl season. Very few are able to handle that kind of worked load much less learn all the protections. Sometimes they are forced to start out if necessity for bad teams, maybe we are ine of them, but it's not the preferred route for coaches. Christensen may be able to start soon but the big boy Brown may take some time on the conditioning side to be able to start.

That's why I warn these folks about getting too excited. The rest if the NFL is going to take notice now. No more overlooking this team from anyone. So buckle up folks because we are in for some slobber knockers from here in out. That's the way I like it though. -
Yeah there's not much you can do but brace yourself after that.

I'm betting there's some nail biting going on. -
His foot got stepped on.

I get it, as fans it's difficult to control our expectations when our team shows promise. Especially since it's been years since ours has shown any. But while they have looked good to very good at times they are a long ways from being a dominant force to be reckoned with on a consistent basis. But there is hope, something we have not had in years.

He's the kind of guy that you want to sit down with and listen to him discuss football over a beer or 12. Imagine the stories he could tell.

...and he's only 23. Still learning the offense and his new targets. Could be worse.

This team is young man. You have to be patient as they jell together. The promising thing to me is that they are playing like this in year one. Remember that something like 60% of our starters are playing their first season together. The rest it's only their second season together so this group is wet behind the ears. You old guys will get that one.
-
I thought he had one but I could be mistaken. The only times I saw his jersey he was on his ass or face.
-
I'm not sure what he has to laugh about unless he was laughing at his old team. That "college" defense kicked the Saint's ass all day long.
-
He couldn't even do that as far as I could tell. I lost track of who was failing to get up field after they took 22 out for a rest. Chubba is too light in the ass to get any push so he's got to pit on some weight if he's going to hold onto the #2 rusher spot.
