Round 6 Pick 189: Amaré Barno, EDGE, Virginia Tech
Jon Snow replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
Hypothetically. -
Yes it will. Unless this team makes the playoffs the are picking in the top 15. Well within the range of trading up for a qb. Too much worrying about what could happen before the season is even played out.

Doesn't look like he's addicted anymore.
-
Matt is taking #1.

I thought that only required to be an agent was to have no low you would not go to to sell a client?
-
What the hell would you be taking tranquilizers on purpose for anyway?
-
Beaver tranquilizers? They have to have their own?
-
Oh c'mon, that was funny.
-
Try being 61 and hearing that.
-
Prove me wrong.

That's thinking too far ahead for scenarios. You plan for the worst. It's a competition until isn't not anymore. In other words when someone is the clear cut starter you bring in the best available to compete. If you hadn't noticed the qb room is extremely thin on talent. Adding to it only makes it stronger.

What about the kid from Tennessee? Bet he's in the running for LG.

The one thing that is nagging at me about our QB pick...
Jon Snow replied to Proudiddy's topic in Carolina Panthers

Stop announcing picks before its announced on TV dufus...what. Who?
-
Yes, but if they happen to find themselves in a position to take a top 2 qb next year I doubt they pass. Fitterer will be calling that guy the "future". I don't put much stock in that kind of talk until the season has played out.
-
They starting qb will (should) be decided by game 1.
-
As it should be. If the OC knows a good qb's when he sees one it should not be an issue.
-
Put him with nfl wrs and he will get that timing down.

Thanks for the updates Scot.

Obviously.

Keep the rookies and the new FA's if possible and Moton. Jettison all the rest. There is no way any of the rookies could be worse than those lazy vets are. They managed to make Moton look human.

Round 3 Pick 94: Panthers Select Matt Corral - QB Ole Miss
Jon Snow replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
I agree. That's point I'm trying to get across between the develop or start immediately crowd. Corral determines if he starts or not by how much of the playbook he can absorb and how he manages against our defense. They are not going to throw a 3rd round rookie out there if he can't beat our 3rd team defense. That's just asking to be fired. -
Round 3 Pick 94: Panthers Select Matt Corral - QB Ole Miss
Jon Snow replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
I agree with both of you in part. A rookie qb has to show in camp and practice that he can run with the 1's before I would start him. And then it would have to be due to the starter costing us games or injured. Reason being the goal is to win and maximize the talent on the team. If the current starter is winning in practice and in games you can afford to let the rookie learn more of the playbook. He will practice against an nfl defense gaining experience with every snap. If the rookie is not number 2 by the 1st game of the season you start scouting qb's. But I wouldn't wait to see if Corral is the guy anyway. Personally I would have multiple scouting reports on every qb coming out next season already. Because I'm taking one in the next draft regardless.
