  1. I think they should build out the roster with the best available player regardless of position. They should stop looking for unicorns and get guys that just love football and can just flat out play despite what the computer tells you.
  2. I tend to focus on the top 50 rankings and not draft mocks. After the 1st has been completed then I go back and look at the top 100 and see how it matches and who's left on the board. Mock drafts rarely ever get the top 10 right much less the entire 1st round.
  3. Attitude, talent and camaraderie are 3 essential parts of any successful team. We have struggled to get all 3 at the same time, especially talent. They have been a sprinkling of each at one point or another but never all 3 at the same time in enough players to build any sustainable success.
  4. Young is a separate issue from building the rest of the team. He's just 1 of 53. He probably won't work out but just because they have to give it a shot does not mean they cannot upgrade everywhere else. His job is to see if doesn't get replaced before the season even starts. After that he will have to hold onto it. This is his last shot at being the guy you can count on that.
  5. I couldn't tell you anything about this year's class coming out. I just saw an early top 32 in the banner streaming in nfl network and it looked like it was heavy on defense in the first. There were 3 or 4 qbs, cannot tell you who other than Williams, Maye and NIX. Williams and Maye were the top 2 and Nix was somewhere around the Saints or Rams. Had 3 WRs i think and the rest were defense and maybe a TE or 2. I will have to look more closely the next time I watch.
  6. I don't have to explain it. That's for the team to be smart enough to realize. I knew it as soon as I saw it why he didn't compete for everyone. He held out for his pro day for a reason. All players looking to improve their draft positions use whatever means they can to do so, including hiring agents and media advisors to help them do just that. So I'm not getting why he has to be singled out. The blame is on the front office for falling for typical draft season bs. This game is not a new one. It's gone on ever since agents were invented. Agents and the people they hire work the teams and media mouth breathers to sell a player. Buyer beware.
  7. I'm afraid you may be right. I'm terrified they will give Burns a massive contract. If that happens its over until that contract is off the books. It would be a classic Hurney move.
  8. Honestly, I wouldn't care if they select an o-line or d-line player. If they are truly rebuilding they would start with the offensive and defensive lines and work their way out.
  9. I was focusing more on Brown. Luvu should be retained because he has a bit of that dog in him as well. I would hope Dan sees it the same way.
  10. There's too many if's for this to play out in your favor. When you have more than one or if for any scenario to play out in your favor you have no chance at success. For every if you introduce you decrease your odds by 50%. Do the math. It's more likely that it's gets worse before it gets better. But I'm prepared for just that. Are you?
  11. He's worth keeping IMO. Luve has earned an extension. But when Derrick speaks everyone listens. Everyone on the team knows who the man is in that locker room and it's not Bryan Burns. Brown is a must sign and the defense built around that man. He sets the example for how all of them should be playing with actions instead of words. Even Luvu will tell you that.
  12. If a team falls for the hype like fans instead of doing their own research and self evaluation of a player then they are not professionals. That's amateur fan level ignorance and they should not be in charge of drafting players for a multi-billion dollar team in the first place.
  13. The blame lies solely in the FO decisions. Blaming Young is like blaming a fire for burning you after you stuck your hand in it.
  14. Now you're talking about the media. You are trying to blame anything and everything except the Panthers for selecting the wrong qb.
  15. So he did that to fool the Panthers into drafting him 1st overall? How dumb to you think these nfl folks are anyway? If anything, that was a reason NOT to take him at all. Sheesh you guys will find anything to blame him with for being taken 1st overall. You can blame the Panthers for that.
  16. That why I said he gets at least 2 seasons. They will have to show progress by the end of season 2 or season 3 is not guaranteed.
  17. The offense seemed predicated on a short passing game. I remember Frank saying they wanted to take a couple of deep shots per game. It appeared every time they tried, which wasn't often, it result in a sack or incomplete. The offense was complete garbage and I blame the play designs more than the receivers. It was just plan garbage.
  18. And those people would be wrong in doing so. It's not the players fault where they are drafted and what was given up to acquire them. It's up to the team to maximize that investment as best they can.
  19. Too much is being made of his draft position. He didn't draft himself. His arm strength is good enough to play in this league. No it not the best, that was already known. Just because he was overdrafted does not mean he has to make a shitty team better to be the number 1 pick. The Panthers made him that but it's obvious he wasn't going to be from the start. He needs more to work with to make the investment have a better shot a working out.
  20. I took notice to how his demeanor switched to an aggressive dead serious tone when he said something about "It's all about alignment, plain and simple". With emphasis on the plain and simple. He said that as he poked the table kinda hard with a look in his eyes like he was ready to hit someone.
