PFF - What would it take for Panthers to trade up for #1 pick
Jon Snow replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
A move like that could be franchise crippling. Tepper will be the person to make that call because he has to hire the next person to clean it up if they make the wrong pick. A lot of people will be out of a job if they get it wrong. -
Frank Reich's and Jim Caldwell's interviews from today

Thank you for posting these. Saw them earlier on their YouTube channel. Every Panthers fan should be required to watch these. It's well worth your time. -
Panthers met with Hooker per report
Jon Snow replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's not Levis whose stock is plummeting. I do not think AR had as much stock as you think. At this point he's not a top 5 qb in this class. That could change after the combine but I think teams have these guys ranked differently than you guys are ranking them. -
If there's 4 qb's drafted ahead of us we would be idiots not to take an edge or DT at 9. The 1st round is top heavy with immediate starters. But I think in the end only 2 qb's go before our pick at 9.

Someone's being looking at the qb rankings. -

It doesn't surprise me. He's rated higher by teams than these draftnicks think. There will be other surprises that challenge the narrative around this class as well. There was a reason it was viewed as as loaded qb draft last year. Opportunity is a factor in every draft so buckle up.- 237 replies

That's another reason they may be hesitant to throw a bunch of 1sts to move up for these qb's. Honestly, I don't think that they will have to anyway.

I agree with everything you summarize except for finding a rookie who can start this year. It's hard for me to believe any of them should or could start this season. Considering the new head coaches that are going to be facing the same dilemma we are facing. And most owners want results now its difficult for coaches to put their job security in the hands of an unknown rookie. The offseason is going to be interesting as free agency will say a lot about the draft. Fan frenzy over the top players and what their team should do is usually far from the reality of what actually happens.

Looks like a good candidate for the tag. He's not worth it. One good season doesn't make him a 45 mil per qb.

CJ Stroud's tape is a Pleaseant Surprise
Jon Snow replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
I've seen a couple of qb rankings where Hooker is ranked ahead of Levis and Richardson. I've seen the McGee kid ranked ahead of AR in them as well. Take that for what is worth. -
Whoever decided to extend him should have been fired.

QB Hype in February vs. Where they were actually drafted
Jon Snow replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm curious to know the order they ranked against each other verse the order they were selected. That may tell you how accurate the qb rankings are more than where they were selected in the draft. The mock drafts are never right. -
As aggressive as they've been with the coaching hires I would not be surprised if Tepper didn't tell them to do both if necessary.

About the only thing I can trust going forward is that it can't possibly be any worse.

I would give odds the mob owns the Raiders by now. Mark Davis is a desperate man. Desperate men do desperate things.

The Athletic names the top coaching hires for this cycle
Jon Snow replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm looking forward to looking like a team of nfl professionals running a modern nfl system instead of a bunch of amateurs trying to run a college system in the nfl.- 21 replies

If it's as tight lipped as the coaching hire we may not know what they are thinking until draft night.

Price to move into top 3 based on past trades.
Jon Snow replied to panther4life's topic in Carolina Panthers
If you want Stroud you've got to trade with the Bears. Huston is taking Stroud. -
That's why I think we won't know until after the draft what direction they will go. They will not want to tip their hand either way. Say for instance they sign Carr. That will probably signal that they are not looking to draft a qb in the 1st unless a great prospect falls in their lap. If they sign Brissett or someone like Sam for instance that likely means they are looking to be players for a qb in the first and will be looking to trade up. It's going to be a poker game until draft night and we have some aces in the building.

The only way we could get Stroud is to make a trade with the Bears. If the Bears can't get a trade down (which I think that is what they really want) they will go defense. Huston takes Stroud. After that it's anyone's guess.

I agree. If he's available after the draft and we come away without a 1st round rookie then I think they may kick the tires. But no, we are not looking in that direction.
