Lose their job over a backup qb? A backup, not starter, a backup?

Jalen Carter may be dropping after this
Jon Snow replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
This will definitely drop him out of the top 5 I would think. But I could be wrong. -
That guy has 10 to 12 inches on him.

He could be charged with manslaughter sure. Without knowing the full details of this situation it's hard to say where this goes. This is probably going to end up a civil matter though. It would end up in a wrongful death lawsuit against him as a participant. That's hard to prove in this situation unless there was a lot of sober witnesses or it was caught on video, which it most likely was. -
If they could prove that he would have been charged with a felony. Now the DA can always upgrade the charges later of course. But what it will come down to the credibility of the witnesses in the end. If he fully confessed to everything then I'm not sure why he ran. If he was drunk and caused the crash he's fugged. If both were drunk and racing he probably gets a large fine and community service for a couple of year's. His draft stock will plummet because of this. Mostly because he left the scene.

It's so crazy it might actually work!

‘Draft Qb. Panthers can own the South’ Dan O.
Jon Snow replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
As an old Nascar saying goes, " If you ain't cheatin' you ain't tryin'. I think Bill is an old Nascar fan. -
Never said anything about "fixing" Sam. I asked you who do you think they will go with? That you didn't answer.
-
I'm not saying you are wrong. It could end up that way for sure. I guess we will have to wait until after the draft to find out.
-
So? That is already known. Who do you think they will go with?
-
That's why I say it must be for the fact he left the scene. Had he stayed it would have most likely resulted in a fine for just street racing. It's a stretch to say that his involvement resulted in the death of someone else unless they can prove he caused the wreck. The simple fact they were racing is trying to connect one to the other. A good layer will get this reduced. I'm not minimizing the other person's death in all this. But street racing is extremely dangerous and there's a reason it's illegal. But the sad fact is theres folks who die form excessive speed and racing everyday. Now will they try to make an example out of him? They might.

You have to prepare yourself for any possibility. Just reading the tea leaves it looks to be trending in that direction at the moment.

I think the coaches are going to be the teachers for the young guy. There's not a sub .500 vet out there that I would use as a mentor for a rookie. Those days are over unless you already have a vet starter in your system. The only guy that has any experience with these receivers and this team is Sam. I know you hate the guy but he's a logical choice for a temporary starter/backup for this season. Unless you would rather sign Carr, this is most likely the route they end up going for now.
-
I'm not sure it means he's gone just yet. The available options for vet starter are not that great but Sam does have the advantage of chemistry with the players so that does give him a slight edge.
-
That's what it states in that tweet.

They will have to increase the charges to a felony if they want to charge him with contributing to the death of the person. Street racing is illegal but it takes 2 to race. Both know it is illegal and extremely dangerous. Unless he caused the other car to crash I doubt they will pursue the maximum penalty. He should have stayed at the scene and took it like a man.

I just saw a ILB mocked to us at 9. These mock draft nerds just go with the interview schedule as their predictions.
-
That's what I said to Scot. The warrant is the only thing that just popped up. The incident that led to it is already known.
-
Which is what you would expect from a backup level qb. That's all Sam is. Expecting anything more from him is setting yourself up for disappointment. I would take him as a backup until they get a chance to upgrade.
-
I'm sure there had been. Fitterer now has to adjust his talent search to players that Reich needs for his team. Frank has specific requirements for the type of players he wants on this team. Fitterer and Morgan are tasked to find the best players that fit that description. Who the hell knows what the last guy wanted.
-
I've never heard of getting jail time for a misdemeanor charge.
-
So it's a minor offense that will result in a fine if it's his first. It sounds worse than it actually is. Carry on.
-
The arrest warrant sure. That only happened today. The things he's being accused of was certainly known.
-
That all may be true but that's the impression he gave off. He was noncommittal about Fields as the starter going forward.

Smart teams do their homework on the guys. There's nothing they do already know about them.
