  1. With a top ten draft pick, many top HCs would love to get their hands on this roster. Excluding QB we have few “needs” and the two most important groups, the trenches, are good to go. We could use an upgrade from YGE, but scheme can compensate for a lot when it comes to solitary weaknesses.
  2. I almost never turn a game off early. Haven’t this year yet. I’m really close right now
  3. I assume the logic is that the penalty happened on the third down play, so the yards get assessed to where the ball is then. Then the new set of downs kicks in on the next play, which starts where the penalty pushed the ball to, with a new set of downs.
  4. just now how it works. Penalties after a play when the next down is a first down don’t lengthen the new set of downs, just pushes it back. Just how it works
  5. That’s just not how it’s ever worked. It’s like on a kick return, penalty yards just push them back. Doesn’t become 1st and 15 or whatever, it’s 1st and ten, x yards behind the penalty
  6. Because the penalty occurred after the play on third down. If it had happened on 1st and goal it woulda got pushed back and still been 1st and goal from the 22
  7. The announcers misspoke. The penalty just pushed them back 15 but the line to gain gets reset too. 1st and 10 was right
  8. They need to just put Horn on 18 and see if Pickins can kill us as much as 18 has been on Taylor
  9. If the plan for Taylor is to give a 5 yard cushion then sometimes make the tackle, he needs to be replaced. Put a backup Safety out there if they have to but Taylor is giving new meaning to the idea of getting abused
  10. Jesus all Taylor had to do was throw his hands up and knock it down
  11. We definitely need to upgrade YGM. He was supposed to be a run stopping specialist but he hasn’t really been that and got abused that drive.
  12. Assuming that the other option is a highly qualified guy, then the other guy. Time to bring our coaching staff into the 21st century.
  13. Absolutely. Not some bank breaking deal, he hasn’t earned that, but a mid range 3-4 year deal definitely.
  14. The Moore play wasn’t a penalty according to the rule book. The Jeudy play was. Refs are incredibly fallible is all it boils down to. Subconscious (or arguably conscious at times) biases factor into that, simple mistakes, all strong reasons why refs should be as removed from the game as possible. “The human element” of officiating a game spoils the product.
  15. (Fwiw I think those EPA/play numbers are supposed to factor in quality of opponent as well)
  16. Yea the Bengals game was an embarrassment but that’s included in the calculation. The defense really is that good. It’s stacked with really good to great players. It’s so good that it’s still the best within these parameters even factoring in a few shitty performances. They’ve still got some room to grow, and part of those good performances is how weak our schedule has been this year, but to have a defense as young as ours is and performing at the level they are, the future is bright.
  17. To outright take the job without any competition? Win the Super Bowl. To be the favorite but kick the tires on a couple others? Win a playoff game. Be legitimately considered for the job? Make the playoffs.
  18. Florio is a complete idiot that just parrots narratives with know knowledge or insight of his own. This team is a QB and coaching away from being a contender. Sure, we don’t have a good TE but there’s only a few of those in the league at all. Most teams don’t have a good TE and it’s not a critical piece anyway. Our WR group is good, our RB group is good, our OL is elite, our DL is really good, our LBs are average, our CBS are really good with one elite guy that’s at least top 5 in the league and we have two good Safeties. We can definitely bolster some areas like LB, another upper tier WR and pass rusher, but we are above average everywhere except LB and QB. What we need most is coaching, which is why Tepper said if Wilks does great then he’s a contender. If he doesn’t, we need someone that can properly utilize this roster that’s already good enough outside of QB
  19. Gd I hope we don’t see winning against our cupcake back half schedule as some great accomplishment that should be rewarded with a long term contract. The only decent teams we could possibly beat are a Lions team that is just ok and a Seattle team that we just ran through like melted butter. We just out bullied them. The only hope we have if we sign Wilks long term is some rock star OC that will be quickly hired away for a HC job anyway.
  20. One mistake at HC doesn’t mean he’s incapable of finding one next time. And we weren’t the only team very interested in Rhule, unfortunately he is a much better conman than coach.
  21. All I see is that he’s not as stubborn about personnel. Rivera woulda held onto CMC and kept running him into a wall every week. And if Fitterer got rid of CMC anyway, there’s no way Blackshear would be getting the opportunities he’s getting under Rivera. Bozeman would still be on the bench. Etc.
  22. Absolutely. I’m interested to see what he can do with a better OC and QB. He never gets any plays except that exact same swing pass every time. We need to use him in the crossing game, we should be able to get the ball in his hands with momentum…past the line of scrimmage
