  1. My immediate reaction to the CMC trade was I hated it. After a couple days I got over the emotions and saw that it was just what was best for all parties involved. Now I see it as the catalyst that made this trade possible. We would be without #39 if we didn’t have 61, plus we have the other picks to use to move up from 39 if we want or pad out depth at LB, DL, or wherever we want if we don’t move up. Game changing trade.
  2. That’s simply not true. Watch the games. His reads were not usually open. This isn’t a Fields situation, gotta look past the stats and narratives and look at what actually happened.
  3. Absolutely. I’ve been saying since early in the season that Stroud was the guy. His body of work, his throws and decision making, is superior to Young or anyone else.
  4. Good deal for both teams because Chicago got the #1 receiver they’ve been needing since Robinson left and we didn’t have to give up nearly as much draft capital as was originally expected. People saying we got fleeced are just saying that cuz it’s the Panthers so of course whatever they did was the dumb move. They also tend to overlook the details like how this year’s second is the later one and we still have our second round pick and how the other second is two years down the road, not next year’s. I even heard one ESPN reporter talking to Schefter say “2023 first and second and 2024 first and second plus DJ Moore!” and Schefter didn’t even bother to correct him.
  5. Eh, I doubt it but we’ll see. Past precedent has been a third if I recall correctly. We might be able to get a second given the circumstances but a first seems like it’d be too much
  6. Ain’t no way they’re giving up a first just to move one spot. Gotta be reasonable. A third is probably the best we could hope for.
  7. That’s ridiculous, has nothing to do with processing.
  8. Absolutely, Young was great. Stroud is just that good though. I mean, there are peripheral skills that Young is better at, the scrambling, extending plays, that kind of thing. But when it comes to deciding who to throw to and then making a throw that gives the receiver the best chance to catch it, that’s Stroud. Best I’ve seen at it in a while. Young is the best I’ve seen in a couple years outside of Stroud.
  9. I think it’s smoke and mirrors to try to hustle a 2nd or 3rd out of Houston. It’s going to be Stroud, he shown all year he was the best passer. I wouldn’t be mad about Young since he’s really good too, but even putting aside the size concerns Stroud is better at getting the football to his receivers.
  10. Of course they are. The choice is clear. It’s Stroud Young Richardson wildcat formation all year Levis Hooker
  11. I don’t think it would happen, but it’s possible. We don’t have to tell the Texans who we’d take at 1. They’ve already planted the seed of doubt saying there’s two we’re interested in and might be willing to move back down. The way it would work is Texans, not know which we’re taking, have a preference. They ask Carolina what it would take to move up to one. Just for this example let’s say it’s a third. Carolina asks who they’d take at one and if it’s not their guy, they take the deal. To the Texans, it’s worth it cuz they’re just giving up a third to ensure they get their guy because there’s a chance Carolina, while being ok with either of the top two like they said, end up taking the one the Texans preferred.
  12. Yep this way we still have a first and second this year, still have a second next year and still have a first the following year. The way this was structure prevents us from being crippled in any future draft
  13. That’s how it works. When a team trades down, the other team tells them who they’re going to take. The first team doesn’t trade down if the partner is targeting their player. The second team still drafts that player because if they don’t, they’re branded as liars and other GMs won’t trade with them in the future if they can’t trust who they’re doing business with. That’s just how it all works.
  14. I think it’ll be both. Some good but old WRs in FA, take one as a stopgap. TE with 39, maybe a WR in the third.
  15. The Texans would have to tell Carolina who they’re taking if they swap. No way Carolina would ever do it blind.
  16. That’s always a risk when making trades, I’m pretty sure lying in this situation would get you a scarlet letter and no one would trade with you ever again because you couldn’t be trusted.
  17. Stroud is definitely a better pure passer than Young, only advantage Young has over Stroud is scrambling and running around in the backfield. He’s still really good but Stroud is an incredible passer
  18. Gotta be Stroud. Outside chance it’s Young, but no way they trade all the way to 1 for Richardson and DEFINITELY not for Levis.
  19. Two firsts, two seconds and DJ. So that means DJ was valued at a first round pick. Hate losing him, but solid value.
