Panthers sign former pro bowl LB Deion Jones
JawnyBlaze replied to Panthercougar68's topic in Carolina Panthers
Good signing. -
I got the impression Bryce thought Smitty was trying to get him to sing some of it there on camera and Bryce was like that’s not happening lol
-
Yea after I said that I looked it up. It was so long ago all I could remember were the concussions, but his other stuff was chronic stuff it seems. Not really comparable to what’s happened with Horn so far. Morgan had shoulder problems, Achilles problems and ankle problems in addition to the numerous concussions. Those are all things that linger. Not like broken bones which heal up and are like new after recovery.
-
How do I know? Because science. And I pay attention and don’t make broad generalizations on limited information. Certain kinds of injuries heal up and are at no more risk of reinjury than before. Some injuries leave the body at high risk of reinjury. That’s how the body works… he’s not out there getting concussions or tearing acls.
-
Wasn’t Morgan’s problem concussions? That’s absolutely a chronic problem and one that becomes easier to happen every time it happens
-
Freak injury is a random one that is not indicative of a long term problem. It’s one that does not portend further injuries.
-
Horn has shown he’s better than Surtain and so far he’s only missed time in seasons that were over before they began, and freak injuries at that rather than chronic ones. Hopefully his career can really start now and prove why he’s worth his draft position. If he misses a third of the season or more again then I’ll have to rethink my position though heh
-
But that’s what we did. Built a quality OL and got a cheap RB. 6mil a year or whatever we gave him is middling to cheap. And he’s above a middling RB. Our RB stable isn’t taking money away from other positions…
-
Same as Najae Harris, better than Joe Mixon, barely behind CMC. Good company to be in.
-
Swift’s best year was as good as Hubbard last year. Let that sink in.
-
Swift’s best year he got half as many yards as Sanders last year. Penny’s best year he got barely more than half. Neither is that good. They’re not RB1s for a reason.
-
Uh no. 5 dookie RBs doesn’t equal a good one. They don’t get 15 players on offense because they got cheap RBs.
-
More of the bs hate narrative that people have spewed about him since before day 1. Pushing a skewed narrative so much it gets repeated as true.
-
He can’t provide one because it’s false. He said in an interview he anticipated it bouncing out and that’s why he raised up. He couldn’t get there before the defender that was already lower than him so he was playing the bounce.
-
That was gettleman. Not Smitty. Smitty never quit on anything. Cam and Smitty got along fine. They just weren’t best friends or anything, hence Smitty talking about them being at different points in their lives.

Anyone ever own a jersey of an infamous player?
JawnyBlaze replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
Bought an Everette brown jersey right after he was drafted. Learned that lesson the hard way, don’t buy a players jersey until year three or so -
Ah, I thought that might be the case but figured if Pep wasn’t then Jake probably wasn’t either.
-
I’m guessing pep and td. Dark horse candidate would be jake

Viking article predicting big drop off for Thielen
JawnyBlaze replied to panthers55's topic in Carolina Panthers
Like I said in another thread, the “having someone good opposite of him to draw coverage” is certainly an argument that can be made, but I would rebut that a) that’s more relevant for an upper tier type guy. It’s more important to give your #1 guy who is going to be the obvious choice for defenses to focus a on a decoy than a #2. And b) I would argue the difference in coverage he may face would be offset by the fact he doesn’t have a megastar like Jefferson with him who the team is going to want to feed. I think he’ll do a little better than last year but obviously not as good as his prime years. And compared to what we’ve had recently, I think he’ll have more TDs but two or three hundred fewer yards than DJ usually gave us. -

I don’t think he’s going to have a career best year or anything but it’s not a leap to think that he’ll bounce back with more targets. More targets = more stats unless you think he’s going to drop all those extra targets… He’ll be better this year than he was the past year or two. -
Ranking NFL coaches for 2023- Reich is 18

Fair enough for now, but I anticipate it’ll go up a lot throughout the season. -

The drawing coverage part is one way to look at it, but regardless of coverage they still weren’t pulling #1 targets. I think with #1 volume of targets Thielen will “bounce back”. In other words, he hasn’t “slowed down” as much as people think, the Vikings just got a megastar who took his targets. -

Thielen’s production recently is only barely below DJ’s and he was the #2, not getting #1 volume. Sure Chark is oft injured but he’s still proven. Few teams have five proven vets at WR. It’s usually two or three and young guys, like us. I’m not saying we should be considered upper tier, but completely discounting Thielen and Chark is ridiculous. We’re better at WR than we were last year, that’s for sure. And there are multiple teams with worse than aging Thielen and injury risk Chark as their #1 and 2. -

I mean, Thielen and Chark are proven producers. Not to mention Hurst at TE. The rest of the guys, yea young potential. We do have proven production, maybe not not five or ten proven production, but middle of the pack surely. -
