Official Lions at Panthers damn it's hot out GameDay thread
JawnyBlaze replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Good offense until a couple bad passes to end the series. Good runs by Brown, good movement and decisions by Bryce. Just a bad few throws to finish it -
Stats lie, they don’t have anything to do with how he’s looked. Bryce has played well within the structure of what he’s being given. He has looked good, but the offense hasn’t so much.

You think Bryce has looked bad? interesting…

A Discussion on WRs: 2011 v.s. 2023

2023 is light years ahead of 2015 in every way except TE. -
A Discussion on WRs: 2011 v.s. 2023
JawnyBlaze replied to SaltAndPepper's topic in Carolina Panthers
2023 is easily deeper and more well rounded, but 2011 had Smitty and Olsen which gives it the edge. Having two game changers is probably better for a rookie than four solid options. -
Hard pass. Hope Sanders can stay healthy this year and draft a good one in the 3rd next year.
-
Having no pass rushers in either game and no Brown yesterday will neuter a defense.
-
Gd. 20 just stopped.

That’s a man catch by Mingo. Makes up for the little mistake last drive
-
If Mingo hadn’t stuttered that woulda been a completion, good read and throw by Bryce. Learning moment.
-
And Houston. Our top pass rusher out there is…YGM? Ew
-
Boy it sure is obvious we’re not playing our top two pass rushers. Shaq got abused a bit in the pass game that drive.

Marshall will be a stud, I hope this doesn’t set him back much. I think it’s easy to try to hang the Jarrett or Colbert label on him but what I saw last year wasn’t just preseason hype or anything like that. He looks like he belongs and just needs some real coaching and development (not to mention a QB) and his floor is a very good #2 and his ceiling is Michael Thomas-lite.

On a related note, I’m curious where the narrative comes from that Saleh is a good coach. I don’t necessarily disagree or anything, I haven’t seen enough from him to make an opinion one way or the other. But I get the same vibes from when the “Rivera is a good coach” hype train was rolling, especially the years Cam (and Luke and TD and Norman, etc) won him CotY. It was obvious to anyone actually watching that Rivera was a terrible coach but the media and, by extension of the media, ignorant fans would parrot this idea endlessly until it just became generally accepted. Happens in many other cases as well, but I’m just wondering if this is another one of those or if there is actually something to back up the narrative that Saleh is a good coach.

Nope, would still be saying it’s just a preseason game and means nothing.
-
We didn’t even have all our starters. McCall was out, Burns was out, Houston was out. Brown was out of position at NT. Just like with the OL, not gonna get bent out of shape over a preseason game. The 0–16 Lions went 4-0 in the preseason, and the 18-1 Patriots went 2-2.

Who impressed and who sucked - preseason game 1
JawnyBlaze replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don’t remember Thielen at all. Responding to this I just remembered Chark was out there the first drive but I don’t think after that. He was working with the backups after the first drive I think -
It also wasn’t the full five starters. OL all rely on each other. When one is out it impacts the whole. Looks like we could use some better backups, hopefully Zavala pans out. I still have faith in our starting five though. Just gotta stay healthy.
-
Correct. The only future picks we’re lacking is next year’s first and the following year’s second.

Who impressed and who sucked - preseason game 1
JawnyBlaze replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Sucked we played barely half our starters, and no offensive skill players except Young and Hurst. Lacked a bunch of starting defenders too. Can’t be getting our knickers twisted over a preseason game, especially one that didn’t have the whole starting OL. Barno looked really good on defense. Young looked good what little we saw of him on offense. One overthrow but the other throws were pretty good, and he looked in command of the offense. -
Lack of future first rounder*. We’re only lacking one.

Von Miller: The Panthers were the better team
JawnyBlaze replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
All of this. -
Wasn’t one hit. It was hit after hit after hit. It’s always one that finally ends it, but without everything that came before the spear by Watt wouldn’t have finished off his shoulder.

Yo! We got a game Saturday! How much time should Bryce get?
JawnyBlaze replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yea, first quarter.
