Tanking does not guarantee a good QB
JawnyBlaze replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Panthers
I mean, most of the best QBs did go high. Mahommes, Allen, Herbert, Burrow. Murray and Stafford haven’t been great so far but they’re good QBs who were drafted high. Watson on the field is good, drafted high. Only a few of the really good ones were drafted outside the first round. -
Depends on if we’re looking at QB #2/3 or #4/5 at that point. If only one or two QBs have gone then swing on another if you believe in the guy that’s left. If there’s already been a run on QBs don’t take a guy just hoping he’s the diamond in the rough this year.

I’ve read from two different random people on Facebook we’re trading DJ to the Ravens. Hope it’s not true, there’s no reason to believe either of these people other than the fact they’re two unrelated sources with no connection at all saying the same thing. I hope that’s wrong, makes no sense at all for multiple reasons.
-
There is absolutely no sense in trading DJ. CMC only if he can get us GOOD assets. He’s too valuable to us to offload for a mere 2nd or less. Even on the pessimistic side and he only has a couple good years left, two years of CMC is far better for us than five years of whatever they get in the second round beyond lucking into some star. Realistically you get a maybe decent starter in the second, not a star.

Yea. I wanted him gone then and every year after. Was a mistake not getting rid of him when he showed no improvement in year three. I maintain we would have won the Super Bowl in ‘15 (and maybe others) if we had a competent HC and OC. Wasted some of the best players the Panthers ever had. Definitely the best QB. Wasted Luke, Norman, Olsen, a better HC might have been able to help Hardy make better decisions (or maybe not), wouldn’t have pushed Gross out the door and neglected the OL. Despicable.
-
Terrible. His QB in Carolina is the only reason he kept his job past year three. Horrible horrible coach who is no stranger to throwing his players under the bus. So glad he’s gone.
-
Great press conference so far. He’s a bit snippy too. Reporter: “but but but Tepper said to ask you!” Wilks: “You asked and I answered. I’m focused on the Rams.” love it

What would convince you that Wilks should be the guy?
JawnyBlaze replied to Jaxel's topic in Carolina Panthers
Fix the scheme holes on defense and steer McAdoo into producing better (and then dump him as soon as the season is over). Get the team playing hard again and looking like they’re having fun and improving. The players have looked defeated since last year, it’s been obvious by their body language and faces. I don’t foresee Wilks turning the team around like that, I don’t think he’s going to be the guy. But if he can pull off a miracle and have this team looking like a well run team then he deserves the shot. -
Harbaugh was never not successful, he had a very talent deficient 49ers team competing every year. The only reason he left was disagreement with the GM, as far as I recall. I’m not pushing for us to hire him, but I can’t think of a coach who did more in his entire stint with less than Jim Harbaugh, personality issues or not (and yea he did seem like a real asshole)
-
Big difference: he was successful. He even had Kaepernick looking like a legit NFL QB.
-
Of guys who we know could be hired as a promotion I’m most interested in Ben Johnson, Flores, Matindale or Ryans. I prefer an offensive guy but there’s not many on the list that interest me. Not Leftwich or Dorsey, for sure. OCs with either an offensive HC who’s really running the show or an all world QB masking their deficiencies are too risky in my opinion. That’s why I think Bienemy hasn’t gotten an opportunity yet. If it’s one of the defensive guys he has to bring a really good OC with him. I’m done with these shitty OCs we’ve had since Chud’s second year. If John Harbaugh or Tomlin become available they’d jump to the top of my list.

You think Tepper got rid of Cam? That stinks of Rhule 100%. Even if Tepper signed off on it, he’s got to support his coach. Especially in those beginning stages. Look at it this way, in the beginning before Rhule proved himself to be terrible, what message would that have sent if Tepper blocked him from crafting the team to fit his system? He would actually be guilty of being the “meddling owner” that people make him out to be.
-
I dunno, Ionnidis has been playing really well. But yea, dropping Burns into coverage is an idiotic move. Let that man loose to chase the QB and blow up outside runs.
-
I’m with you. He picked a bad coach. It happens. Successful people are easy targets for hatred. I like him better than Richardson, that’s for damn sure. At least Tepper admitted his mistake after 2.4 seasons instead of waiting 7+ like Hurney and Rivera

We all owe Teddy Bridgewater an apology

Nah. He was still trash. -
LaCanfora - Rhule fired - Now what ?
JawnyBlaze replied to Paa Langfart's topic in Carolina Panthers
Sean Payton without having to give the Saints compensation? Hell yea. Hard pass on giving up assets for him though. Dan Quinn is a pass too, but if that’s how it works out I’ll just have to be cautiously optimistic at first. -
I’d hate to see him go but if we can get a good return, like a first (or if it is indeed the Bills or another team that’s going to have a low pick , a first and a decent young player or a mid round) then it would be the smart move.
-
You seem to be assuming the power structure has been like a normal team. These moves WERE Rhule. I’m sure Fitterer was involved to some degree but it was Rhule that wanted those guys and at most Fitterer was just the one directed to get them.

Best moment was this morning when he got fired.
