  1. I mean, no one thinks he’s actually playing north of 200. Not even the staunchest Young supporter in the media thinks his combine weight was anything but temporary. NFL defenses are a whole different animal from college defenses even if there are some guys that are going to be in the NFL. With that said, I don’t think the 15-20 lbs difference between his combine weight and playing weight means he’ll automatically snap like a twig the first time someone hits him. Some little guys are just tough, maybe he is too. CMC was supposedly too small to be running up the middle and yet he did all the time and his only injury problems have had nothing to do with being too small and getting hit.
  2. From what I can see there’s some people against him because they don’t think his tiny frame will hold up in the NFL, and then there some people like me who aren’t against him at all, just prefer Stroud who is better at throwing the football. The only thing I’m against is all this inane “it’s over, buy your Young jerseys” nonsense from gullible fans slurping up every rumor as if they’re based on anything real. No one knows yet. If it’s Young, I’ll be happy. If it’s Stroud I’ll be more happy. If it’s Richardson after a trade down (I know, highly unlikely), I’ll be happy. I just want the nonsense to be over so we can unify behind whoever our guy ends up being, though there will still be haters no matter who our guy is.
  3. Or you can just be like me and acknowledge that none of them know anything, half of them are pushing an agenda, 45% are blindly throwing poo against all way so they can say “I was right” if it sticks, and 5% are using their own analysis and opinion to say who they think it should be.
  4. I like Bryce but Schefter nor anyone else outside the top three guys in the Panthers organization have any clue whatsoever who we’re taking. If we do end up taking Bryce, it doesn’t make Schefter’s claim any more valid.
  5. Don’t bother trying to save the sanity of some of these fools, ready to gobble up every rumor and piece of intentional misdirection thrown out there by anyone with a platform. No one knows anything more than they knew two months ago. This same thing happens throughout the year, not just draft season. Lotta people are helplessly gullible.
  6. It’s not like practicing the 40 though. It’s mental, not physical. It would help taking it multiple times. The more comfortable and familiar you are with something like that, the quicker you can react. Anyone who’s played duck hunt, the first time you play you’re not going to score nearly as well as the tenth or twentieth.
  7. Nobody is knocking Bryce for practicing it. But you also can’t say practicing something doesn’t improve your performance in reaction times. Of course it does. The more you practice the more you’re able to react without thinking. Think of reaction based video games, the more you play then the better you get, especially when it’s strictly based on reaction time. Is it a very good sign that he scored so well? Of course! Does the fact he’s been practicing since high school skew the context of comparing his score against anyone else who took the test? Of course it does.
  8. Unlikely since the only thing that’s been said regarding Stroud and the test is that ALL the top QB prospects scored very well on it.
  9. Frelands “models” are always trash. Just an attempt to get a head start on tech trends. Beyond meaningless, and stupid comps anyway.
  10. Stroud faced significantly higher ranked defenses than Young did. Someone posted the side by side comparison weeks ago. But yea, they both have elite traits
  11. Yea, I mean the exposure is something you can’t take deny helps perception. That’s why sometimes there’s a diamond in the rough out there no one has heard about. Not much we can do about that, just gotta trust your team’s scouting department is thorough enough. If he was at Boise st or something and still on the radar and performing like he did, I’d still say he’s a top prospect. If Stroud weren’t in this draft he’d be my favorite QB at #1, because even if he is a bit physically limited, both in stature and in strength, he’s still very gifted and very good with the football. He’s not weak or noodle armed, just not top tier in that department. He has other strengths that compensate. He’s not as good a thrower as Stroud, but he’s better than most that have come out the past few years, in addition to the smarts and unplanned playmaking.
  12. He’s not the #1 prospect to me regardless, but where he went to school doesn’t affect anything if you watch a QB closely. Unless you just never see them in any trouble or anything, but that pretty much never happens. You can always find indicators.
  13. I think it’s because we have video of McCown talking about the QBs but not Brown. We have no idea what Brown will want or what he values or how he’ll use them.
  14. Cohost reminds me of Cole Hauser but dumb and boring.
  15. Most Stroud supporters would be fine with Young, they (we) just prefer the better thrower of the football. If we opt for the scrambly, play extending QB instead then we’ll support him fully.
  16. Lol at people still diminishing Brown’s game. Dude is a force and will be paid accordingly. We have studs at every level on the defense and they’ll have to be paid, but that’s just the business. Gotta fill in the spots around them with guys that are good enough and cheap enough to get the job done as a unit.
  17. Same as I’ve felt since halfway through the season. Pretty strongly for Stroud but won’t be mad if it’s Young.
  18. It’s funny, in another thread someone was saying our #1 need by far is WR and here you’re saying some people are saying we have the makings of an elite offense. I’m with you, they’re good enough for now. We don’t need to draft any particular position, but we can certainly upgrade and start building for the future as the opportunities present themselves. With Stroud or maybe Young, with this OL and talent at skill positions I can see us realistically ranking 12-18 in offense in year one. A huge improvement, but not elite yet. Once our QB gets a couple years and we refresh the skill groups over the next couple drafts, then we might be ready to be elite thanks to the OL and foundation building done this year.
  19. I’d prefer a TE, but I’ve seen Ojulari mentioned in that area a lot so I have to assume he’s a solid prospect. Wouldn’t be mad, not having done any research on him myself.
  20. Because 185 is what he actually played at, not 205 which is just what he artificially got up to temporarily and didn’t even perform simple drills at. Might he be able to crest 200 and actually play at it in the NFL with NFL resources at his disposal? Maybe.
