  1. Hurney had many more drafts too. He hit on an average of one pick per draft, the first one. He gets the edge because his one hit was usually better than Fitterers. But he was a bad GM too.
  2. I’m quite confident that Shaq’s injury forced him to play Luvu out of position cuz he was the only guy that could. The OGs will prove their worth, whether it’s for Bryce or for the guy we get next year. A stout interior OL is critical for a young QB, not to mention the run game.
  3. Yep. Half the huddle was whining about him being a bust because he wasn’t getting sacks while half of us saw how he was actually affecting the defense. I was waiting for a human to make a thread about this but it never happened so I figure it’s time to chime in heh. Very pleased about this, we gave the right DL the big extension. I saw some jackssses saying on Facebook that were losers for extending a guy that was on a 2-15 team and that kind of ignorance will never cease to amaze me. Aikman’s first year I think they won one game, so I guess they should have gotten rid of all those hall of gamers before they even got started.
  4. I’m not a homer, I’m just not emotionally scarred by a bad season. I’ve seen them before. Doesn’t mean we don’t have good players. BC is average sure, but for where he was taken that’s a good pick. Chuba is an average starter, so ditto. Icky only sucked last year, there’s history revision going on but it’s an emotional response to last year. His first year he had some sucky moments but overall very good. Horn played most of year before last and about 1/3 of last year. Can’t predict injuries like that. When he’s on the field he’s a lockdown corner. I’m not saying Fitts drafts weren’t piss poor but he did hit on some. Hurney was bad too but he also hit on some. If I had to compare the two I’d give Hurney the slight edge, but at least we don’t have to worry about this owner being stupid enough to rehire Fitts.
  5. I mean of the CBs, Horn was the right pick. Parsons and Luke are different roles but yes in retrospect yea Parsons would have been better for us.
  6. Can’t say I’m wild about Nix but I wouldn’t immediately hate it. I DO prefer to just draft complimentary pieces for whomever we draft as our new QB next year, but if they’re sold on someone this year, I’ll wait and see how it plays out before saying how I felt all along But if I’m taking someone at 33 that might be there, I’d probably prefer Penix to Nix.
  7. He was really good his rookie year. He wasn’t perfect, he had rookie moments, but he was certainly really good. I saw no struggling “mightily”. He was better vs the run, but still decent against the pass over the course of the season.
  8. Horn is elite when healthy and was the right pick. He’s better than Surtain and the injuries couldn’t be predicted. Ickey is really good, one down year in a clusterfug of bad coaching and Mr. No Pocket Presence doesn’t change that. I’m confident he’ll get back on track. Christiansen and Chuba are decent.
  9. Sure on paper that looks like a reasonable expectation but it never works out like that. We could be getting the 6th best receiver if some of those teams in the list have another position higheron THEIR priority list or if a player they deem as better is available so they pass on the perceived top need and address their second biggest need with a player they like more. Or there could be a run on receivers and a team that picks before us in the second addressed their top need in the first and WR is their second need. All that’s important is that we take the best player available at a position of need and they are who we think they are. We already spent our first and most valuable pick in this draft on getting Bryce. That’s a sunk cost. For now we just have to focus on improving the team as best we can and if that means spending the first pick we have available on the 9th best receiver then so be it. We won’t be getting a top 5 player at a position of value at #33, and if we do it’s because it’s a weak class and they’re probably not as good a player as the 9th best receiver. It’s not like we have nobody and HAVE to draft a WR like the Bears HAVE to draft a QB now. We have two starter quality WRs and a couple projects. If better players at other positions of need are available at our picks it would benefit the team to take them. I wouldn’t be mad if our second round picks are a C and pass rusher or CB if they’re the better prospects when we pick.
  10. Of course we should. Anyone who thinks Mingo is a bust after one year with Bryce as his QB and that circus we had running the show needs to just turn in their football card immediately and just watch golf or something.
  11. I’m pretty sure if Mike Alstott was in this draft his pro comp would be CMC.
  12. Yea Favre was bountygate and dirty plays away from the Super Bowl with Minnesota.
  13. It sure seems we are better, especially considering the OL upgrades and the addition of Johnson at WR. Clowney is at worst a temporary wash with Burns. Probably actually a minor upgrade but only for the short term. Losing Luvu is a big downgrade but possibly made up for by the upgraded DL (notably Robinson) making it easier for the LBs. The secondary is looking worse on paper but we’ll see how it plays out. Troy Hill was a very nice surprise last year but he’s getting up there in age. Knowing what we know now, that the last coaching staff was a clusterfug and Reich was terrible/a terrible fit and Canales is a complete unknown, an unknown is better than a known disaster, so yea top to bottom we’re looking much improved this year from both a roster and coaching staff standpoint. We still need to improve the secondary, that’s the only thing on paper that really needs more work. TE is weak but not a necessity. LBs aren’t world beaters but if they stay healthy they’re sufficient. DL looks really strong and combined with scheming our pass rush should be no worse than last year (which wasn’t good), maybe even better. Good enough. Our run defense was the problem last year and it should be significantly improved with the Robinson and Clowney additions.
  14. I think Chuba actually would be a mid tier starter, good enough with a solid line (which it looks like we have) and won’t be expensive on his second contract unless he has a really breakout year this year, but either way I’m down for the “draft a RB in the 4-6 range every year” strategy that others have mentioned. Mostly throwaway picks anyway and could always get lucky.
  15. I’m glad we didn’t pick up the phone for $15mil
  16. Sure? jump two spots for the wr of our choice with a 5th year option for just a late round pick that’s not going to address a need anyway? Absolutely
  17. That was me last year, still holding out hope he would develop. But he seemed lazy to me last year and that did it for me
  18. lol you’re right. I knew we had done it at some point but couldn’t remember the exact case. I suppressed that memory even though I actually own an Everette brown jersey lol. Swore that would be the last rookie’s jersey I ever bought.
  19. #1 and 2 draft picks who weren’t very good outside of their association with Reid. News flash, draft position isn’t a sure fire indicator of talent (shouldn’t have to tell that to a Panthers fan in 2024…)
  20. TMJ would be my top pick. He’s the furthest from his potential imo.
