  1. He does seem to run nice sudden routes, that's a plus. I'd be interested in his vertical, it helps those short guys if they have a high vertical and can maintain concentration during the leap. Didn't see much of that in the highlights. I'd be happy with him in the mid rounds if we can't get Justin Hardy around the 3rd (or maybe even late 2nd with our pick if his stock rises).
  2. First simulation with our draft position set, after the first three picks I didn't know anything about any of them, just matching positional need to measurables. I'm not sure about Strong being available in the 2nd, if not replace him with Justin Hardy or Sammie Coates. Artis-Payne could also be replaced with an OLB, but I didn't know enough about any in this class yet to pick one in the top 3. I also think we'll make another Frank Alexanderish pick at DE in the mid rounds if Hardy isn't back. Need more legit depth (not Addison or Horton) if that's the case. Round 1 Pick 25: Ronnie Stanley, OT, Notre Dame (B+) Round 2 Pick 25: Jaelen Strong, WR, Arizona State (A) Round 3 Pick 25: Cameron Artis-Payne, RB, Auburn (B+) Round 4 Pick 25: Za'Darius Smith, DE, Kentucky ( Round 5 Pick 25: Corey Robinson, OT, South Carolina © Round 6 Pick 25: Deshazor Everett, CB, Texas A&M (A-) Round 7 Pick 25: Xavier Williams, DT, Northern Iowa (A-)
  3. Since we played ourselves out of contention for Cooper, I pretty much want the BLTA. I'd be happy with a very good OLB or WR provided the WR is quick with good hands. We desperately need speed in our WR corps.
  4. Uh, 80% of that video was fumble recoveries and rushing the ball. I'll do more research, anybody named Shaq already has his foot in the door with me But there wasn't really anything impressive in that video.
  5. Yea LT or WR in the first unless there's a SS that's way better value. I'm not even down for a 1st round DE unless it's a helluva steal and someone that's legit NFL DE size. I might be convinced for an OLB if it's also a steal and someone with Von Miller type qualities (maybe Beasley if he looks to be doable as a 4-3 OLB instead of just a 3-4).
  6. ^ I could get behind that. Not crazy about Gurley in the 2nd, but if his injury checks out this could be a very good thing.
  7. lol. Two years ago I said a couple months before the draft that if we drafted Star I'd run down the streets of the town I lived in buck ass nekkid screaming. I lied. I didn't. If we got THAT draft, I'd have to reconsider that proclamation.
  8. Here's one I like. The 2nd pick could very well end up being a better prospect at OT than Erving. These simulators seem to be overvaluing the OTs in this draft at the moment, in my opinion. The 5th round pick can be switched out for any player in the secondary, but hopefully a S. The last pick was just throwing another body at OT. Anything will do there. Round 1 Pick 8: Amari Cooper, WR, Alabama (A) Round 2 Pick 8: Cameron Erving, OT, Florida State (A-) Round 3 Pick 8: Markus Golden, DE, Missouri (A) Round 4 Pick 8: Jeremy Langford, RB, Michigan State (A) Round 5 Pick 8: Ibraheim Campbell, SS, Northwestern (C+) Round 6 Pick 8: Norkeithus Otis, OLB, North Carolina (A-) Round 7 Pick 8: Jamon Brown, OT, Louisville ©
  9. Not familiar with Coates, and Peat's stock seems to be falling. Apparently he's rather technically unsound. BUT, I'd take that draft in a NY minute.
  10. I like that draft, Capt, except two DTs. Don't think we need two. Just one later round pick for depth. Dunno anything about Abdullah, but if there's a good RB in the 3rd I'll all for it.
  11. Here's an interesting curveball draft: Round 1 Pick 7: Shawn Oakman, DE, Baylor (A) Round 2 Pick 7: Spencer Drango, OT, Baylor (A) Round 3 Pick 7: Justin Hardy, WR, East Carolina (B+) Round 4 Pick 7: Geneo Grissom, OLB, Oklahoma (B+) Round 5 Pick 7: Deshazor Everett, CB, Texas A&M (A) Round 6 Pick 7: Adam Shead, OG, Oklahoma (B-) Round 7 Pick 7: Desmond Hollin, DT, Florida State (B-) I'm starting to like Drango in the 2nd.
  12. Who called anything my scouting abilities? I never claimed to be a scout. I claim to know he looks overrated to me and doesn't fit what we do. If the consensus number 1 pick was a MLB I wouldn't want him either.
  13. A big board with decent writeups for the top 32. Mentions this potentially being a strong LT class. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/story/24821247/nfl-draft-big-board-plenty-of-depth-at-ot-among-top-prospects
  14. Most likely, who knows what though. Won't be much.
  15. Cedric Reed is another mid to late round considerable.
  16. Bud Dupree is one I could see us targetting in the middle rounds (2-4) maybe. Needs to put on a little weight, but not much.
  17. Also watched some Leonard Williams videos. Not impressed. Do not want. He looks strong, but he'll be a 4-3 UT or 3-4 DE. Too stiff, too sluggish off the snap and in pursuit.
  18. So I've watched some videos on Shawn Oakman now. My God that is a big boy. 6'9 280lbs. When I had only seen his numbers I thought "sounds more like a 3-4 DE" but after seeing him, he's relatively lean and quick. Definitely 4-3 DE build. Looks relatively strong and very quick. His hand fighting seems solid, but otherwise his technique is terrible. His tackling is especially poor, I saw him get his hands on a QB a lot of times, full arms around them, and didn't bring them down due to poor technique. His motor also is subpar. Seemed to give up on every play that wasn't an immediate success for him. Saw a few plays where the QB rolled away from him, so he just wound down and didn't try anymore and the QB ended up scrambling back toward him but was able to evade him because the QB was going full speed and Oakman had already slowed down. If he can get the technique and motor coached up, my Lord he could be amazing. I wouldn't be upset with us using our first pick on him (provided Cooper and the top LTs are gone). Reminds me a bit of Ziggy Ansah, but more physically impressive.
  19. And I don't want some Dion Jordan clone. He's gotta be legit NFL size unless we're switching to a 3-4. I gotta do some research on Oakman and another guy I saw mentioned, Leonard something. They both seem like they may be 3-4 DEs though. Gotta watch some videos.
  20. Oh I agree with that point. I only advocate the Safety if there's no OTs or DEs truely worth it, or Cooper.
  21. I wasn't trying to be combative, but you were sticking to that OT point despite it being said a few times "if no OT worth it that high is available". That's where I got the impression you were saying reach for an OT regardless of anything. You didn't say anything about a DE, made the comment about the QB being on his ass. Apologies if you felt I was attacking you or being condescending.
  22. I wouldn't disagree. Are there any elite NFL sized DE prospects in this draft? I haven't heard of any. I'd still rather have Cooper or a top LT than the DE though.
  23. So what you're saying is to take a Rd 2 OT in the top 5 rather than the top Safety? I disagree.
