Don’t know if this has been posted. Only thing that really sets this apart is a more in depth write up than I’m used to seeing and I like how Chinn is already being used as a comparison for highly rated prospects https://nfldraft.theringer.com/?_ga=2.189757611.189411139.1614797204-703757875.1614797203

Chris Simms Just Released his 2021 QB Rankings
JawnyBlaze replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
Looks like he has a pretty good track record when going against the grain. I dunno anything about this Mond guy, and I’d still take Lawrence over Wilson but him being so high on Wilson does somewhat validate what a lot of us are seeing in Wilson -
Who wouldn’t want this dashing fellow as their QB?

Giving Teddy another shot would be the absolute worst choice. The lesser of the multitude of evils here is Mariotta imo. Doesn’t cost draft capital, can still draft a QB at 8, or if that’s not in the cards in these scenarios, we can get a really good player or trade down and still able to go for a guy next year.

Yea I get what you’re saying. But I tend to look at prospects a different way, looking for specific traits rather than just how they played as a whole. In my mind, it helps weed out the “who they have around them” and “who they played against” factors. Fields hasn’t shown the ability to make reads and Wilson has better pass placement and range on his throws. Fields has been more limited. Doesn’t mean I don’t think Fields can make the reads and the throws, just means I haven’t seen it like I have with Wilson. and from your lips to God’s ears my friend. Watson is a best case scenario, pretty much regardless of the cost.

Dline depth isn’t a hole. A hole is a starter. A hole is a glaring need, as far as I understand the word. TE isn’t a hole. Corner barely qualifies. Safety, maybe but Chinn and Burris is a fine combo to me. The only holes I see are a couple OL, corner kinda, MLB. And we have a fair amount of cap space to get FAs for those holes if we’re drafting a QB
-
That’s fine, but based on my own watching of all the videos youtube has to offer, Wilson has skills that Fields just hasn’t shown yet. And a better arm and better throws. There isn’t really anything you can say Fields had an advantage in except size and the team he played for. In my opinion.

But Bridgewater actually has been able to physically hold up to playing in the nfl outside of a freak catastrophic injury that wasn’t really due to his size or durability. His problem has been that he’s just not good.

I would vomit all over my living room if we draft a gdmf LB at #8 with such an epic need for QB. Would have been like trading our #1 in ‘11 to trade down and take Marcell Darius and continuing to trot Jimmy Clausen out at QB
-
Meh, we don’t have that many holes and a lot of cap space. It’s entirely believable the only four QBs worth considering in the first (imo) are gone by 8 and not getting a new starting QB either by draft or by trade (Watson) would be a tragedy and I don’t believe Tepper is willing to risk that happening. There’s a big gap between Wilson and Fields/Lance imo, so if we’re trading up I want to go big and get the best possibly attainable guy in the draft (though the realistic chance we can draft up for him is debatable, depending on what the Jets do for a QB and that #2 pick)
-
Same. If we can’t get Watson for three firsts and a couple players, then I’d love to try to use two firsts (and a couple players if necessary) to move up for Wilson

I got in my car after work and the nfl xm radio said “jj watt to car” on my screen and I was like “wut...” I was prepared to be excited about how nasty our dline would be but concerned about our cap space. Then they started talking about how he went to the Cardinals and I was like “phew” scared me for a minute there

Good chance Cam will be Patriots starter in 2021
JawnyBlaze replied to Ja Rhule's topic in Carolina Panthers
He deserves a fair shot. Last year was ridiculous. He was throwing to damiere Byrd and billy jo from down the street. -
My money is on Roy, who look really good in limited play last year; Franklin, ditto; Bonnefon, in the unlikely scenario CMC is traded I see Bonnefon as the backup and taking on a lot more snaps as the year goes on and Davis starts slowing down (if last year is any indicator); and Miller, who is entering his second season and looked good at times his rookie year.
-
I’m fine with that, trade up if need be but we gotta get our guy. Leaves some cap space open for FA. Either way comes with risk and cost. As long as we don’t sit on our ass and settle for scraps.

If we trade for squatson, do we go wr as early as possible?

We resign Samuel... -
Kiper Mock 2.0: Mac Jones to Panthers at #8.
JawnyBlaze replied to Proudiddy's topic in Carolina Panthers
Glad it’s Mel Kiper and not someone who should be taken seriously. This just about guarantees we won’t take Jones. -
Definitely had flashes his rookie year. Opting out shouldn’t be a factor, has nothing to do with “love for the game”, that’s stupid. Hope he can come back strong and keep progressing, could really bolster our LB corps

Panthers "a top candidate" for HBO's Hard Knocks
JawnyBlaze replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
If we get Watson before the decision is made, you can just about guarantee it’ll be us. -
The quarterback carousel has broken down
JawnyBlaze replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
If the speculation is true and we’re holding onto him as a potential part of the Watson trade, that’s probably worth the 9th or 10th round pick we might get in a trade for Bridgewater... -
Jameis has more talent and ability in his little toe and Bridgewater. I’ll take him and his stupid antics all day over watching another pass thrown by Bridgewater in electric blue. I’d be fine with Jameis as a backup backup option, with our eye on who we’re going to trade up for next year (Howell hopefully). Spend #8 on an OT in that scenario.
