  1. People forget that Brees only had 27 attempts his rookie season and all of those were in one game. He didn't become the full time starter until his second season and his stats were mediocre at best throwing 17 TD's to 16 INT's and at 60.85 acuracy. We're going to have to be patient, period. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/B/BreeDr00/gamelog/
  2. I thought they had a good start to the game, in particular the first drive. I love that they went for it on 4th and 1 despite getting stopped. I thought Bryce looked good, all things considered. It was his first real NFL game, it was in a hostile environment, it's a new offense with a retooled OL and WR's who couldn't get separation. I was disappointed in the interceptions, especially the second one...but he's a rookie. I must have missed the scouting report that listed a cannon for an arm. I think we all knew that's not what we were getting. He made a couple of deep throws that showed his arm is plenty big enough to stretch the field. I'd rather have a highly accurate QB with an average arm than a cannon who misses open targets. Biggest disappointment by far was the self inflicted wounds. Three turnovers, some boneheaded flags...just looked undisciplined. Again, it's Game 1 and we knew this was going to be a long process.
  3. Where are you from? I can't place the accent.
  4. Unfortunately it's how this business works. On one hand I think he should honor the contract he's currently under. If you're underpaid according to relevant metrics then the team benefits, but the other side of that is if the player is under-performing then the team should suck it up and honor the contract, too. That's not practical though, especially given the constraints of time and money. The team has to make the best use of it's cap, where as the player knows he's on borrowed time while playing a violent sport. Burns career could come to a sudden halt at really any time. So while I don't necessarily like it I understand that they are trying to cash in while they have the leverage to do so.
  5. Per snap would be even more revealing.
  6. His pastoral background is a huge benefit.
  7. I obviously hope we win, but I have a hard time seeing it play out that way. First NFL game for a rookie QB, on the road in a hostile environment, RB1 taking his first snaps of the year, unproven OL and a beat up WR corps all running a new offense. Add to that the possibility of no Burns, no help opposite of that spot and a new D, I’m skeptical at best. I don’t think Atlanta will be good this year, but I do think it’s going to take us several games to get things going. I hope I’m wrong.
  8. I'm worried about the D, I'm a hardcore 43 guy. I hope I'm wrong.
  9. Well...I feel better about Young. Downside is that the OL and the WR's look underwhelming.
  10. David Newton has called into question the ability and progress of our young LT. At this point I’m not worried, but there have been some glaring errors. Hopefully he’ll continue to develop into the LT we need to anchor the OL and keep Bryce upright. https://www.espn.com/blog/carolina-panthers/post/_/id/37875/protecting-bryce-young-is-ikem-ekwonu-a-concern-on-panthers-o-line
  11. Speaking for myself I had a pretty low bar for the first game and they still fell well short of it. Not reading too much into it, but it was disappointing for sure. Now if they stink it up tomorrow against the Giants I think there will be a legit cause for concern.
  12. First game of the preseason is serious bizness.
  13. I want to see the lines do their respective jobs. I was incredibly disappointed in both versus the Jets.
  14. Yes, how dare they take player safety seriously!
  15. Because he's a dick who says stupid things.
  16. I thought it was exceptional. It's something I wish they would do with other position groups as well.
  17. What I take from that is his extreme intelligence and desire to communicate thoroughly. While his answers are long he’s not simply repeating the same things over and over, he does into depth and clarifies his points. When he finishes the answer he doesn’t leave much unsaid, I think that will serve him very well as the QB and leader of the team. He’ll not only be able to explain how he wants something done, but why he wants it done that particular way. Some people, myself included, need to know the underlying concepts or philosophies before something real sinks in. Where that really helps it when a play breaks down I understand his thought process so we can stay on the same page.
  18. World class Prime Rib vs. Impossible burger
  19. I hope to make my first ever away game against the Titans.
