Anthony Richardson declares for the draft
LinvilleGorge replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
Oh trust me, I get it. I just look at all the best young QBs in the league currently and they all had significant question marks and only Burrow was the #1 overall pick. Burrow was a one year wonder playing with elite receivers. Herbert came from a one read offense that didn't translate to the NFL. Allen couldn't hit the broadside of a barn. Mahomes came from a gimmicky system that grossly inflates passing stats. I think a lot of times teams get caught in the trap of drafting the guy they think will be the best rookie instead of the guy who they think can ultimately develop into the best QB. There's no way guys like Kenny Pickett and Mac Jones should've ever sniffed the first round, but they were viewed as the most "NFL ready". That's all well and good to be "NFL ready" but it doesn't matter if you don't have NFL tools. -

Josh Allen had 1800 passing yards in his final college season before going #7 overall. -

I wouldn't write off Love just yet. He's been sitting behind a future HOFer and he's basically the same age as Will Levis. -

Seems like most of our fanbase is there. Nothing short of the Andrew Luck type prospect is going to satisfy them. Everything else is a bad QB class But the reality the Andrew Lucks come around about once a decade and the last one (Trevor Lawrence) isn't exactly setting the world on fire so far. -
I don't know. The Niners have a strong OL and a strong running game. Baker has looked pretty good in a similar situation previously in Cleveland.

I sure as hell hope Nix isn't getting potential 1st round projections. The last thing in the world the Heels need is for him to sit out the bowl and to face another backup QB. You wanna see a guy look like a Heisman contender? That's a backup QB vs. UNC. All four losses versus backup QBs.

It's unrealistic in any draft. You're always hoping for an MVP caliber talent but if that's the floor of what you're willing to accept then you're highly likely to be continually disappointed. The reality is that he'd rather lose games with a Kirk Cousins than win games with a Cam Newton. Some of these old dinosaurs ha e an image of what a QB looks and plays like and they'd rather lose games with that type of QB than win games with a dual threat QB. -

This is why people don't take you seriously. A league MVP is the floor of your QB goals? -

He's wildly reminiscent of Allen IMO. I lived in CO while Allen played at Wyoming so his games were always on for me. I probably watched more of his college games than anyone else on this board sheerly due to geography and TV schedules. I'm telling you, in college they're basically the same guy. Honestly, Richardson is a better passer than Allen was at this stage. Allen threw a few balls every game that honestly it was difficult to ascertain who exactly he was even attempting to target. They were THAT bad. -

I don't think throwing at the Combine honestly really matters unless you're absolutely disastrous. Everyone knows you're throwing to receivers you're unfamiliar with. Cam didn't throw very well at the Combine and still went #1 overall and had back to back 400+ yard passing games to kick off his NFL career. Teams are gonna watch Florida games and see a poo ton of passes bouncing off receivers' hands. -

There's nothing comparable in terms of arm talent. -

If dudes are being offered $5M in the portal then we just need to go ahead and put up that Drake Maye statue in Chapel Hill right now because that dude is as committed to Carolina as anyone has ever been. -

Out of curiosity I went back and looked at some snippets of interviews. He doesn't come across as Peyton Manning but he's no moron. Someone is taking him in the 1st for sure. -

It only takes one. I don't see any chance someone doesn't take a shot at him in the 1st. He's the best pure physical talent since Josh Allen. That's assuming his interviews are at least decent. That's the huge part of the evaluation equation that fans have minimal insight into. -

Smart move. Someone will take a shot at him in the 1st. But if he came back to college for another year and didn't make a leap his stock would probably plummet. The risk/reward for him heavily favors the draft. Hell, if he interviews well it wouldn't be surprising to see him go top 10. -
So you're looking for some cheap, high quality links?

Report: Teams are doing homework on Jim Harbaugh
LinvilleGorge replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
His intro at Colorado was a rough one. Basically told all the kids he was bringing his guys in, his son was gonna be the QB, and they can all hit the transfer portal for all he cares. -
Yep. We gain nothing by holding onto him so do the right thing
-
For damn sure. When you're scavenging around in the dumpster you're probably gonna come up with trash.

With the NIL money I think we're going to see more and more mid-round type players opting to play another year of college ball. Big time college QBs are gonna be getting PAID. Hell, TAMU's starting OL is reportedly splitting a seven figure NIL deal. That's tough to walk away from unless you're talking about being drafted high enough to secure your future.

Of the vet post-Cam QB moves we've made this is the one I have the least issue with by far. We didn't give up much and the Browns picked up the majority of the salary cap tab. It was worth the shot we took IMO. No, it didn't work out but a low value trade and cap hit for Baker Mayfield was and always will be a better roll of the dice than paying Teddy like a legit starter or trading real assets to acquire Darnold and immediately doubling down on that move by picking up his 5th year option.

Pretty much this. I thought he would be a disaster in terms of the locker room if things didn't go well but that wasn't the case at all. The guy seemed to come in with the right attitude and did everything the staff asked him to do. That's all I can ask of a player. I'm not pissed at Baker. I'm not pissed at Sam. I'm not pissed at Armanti Edwards and Amini and Pickles from years passed. I'm pissed that we have an overall sorry ass organization.

Matt Ryan is completely washed up.

I have no idea what happened to this guy. He looked so good as a freshman filling on for Lawrence for a couple of games and then... ugh.

Holy poo Joe Burrow is a fuging baller.
