Kind of a dick statement about a former UDFA who has carved out a pretty successful career as a fringe NFL player for nearly a decade.

at the premise that Tepper "won't start making bad business decisions now." You have to completely ignore his tenure as the Panthers' owner to still be clinging to that pipedream.

Howell being "down" is baffling. The NFL is really fuging up this evaluation if someone doesn't take him in the 1st. But, that's why there are steals and busts every single year. They do the best they can, but the NFL fugs up a lot of draft evals.

Dwayne Haskins struck by car and killed
LinvilleGorge replied to Cdparr7's topic in Carolina Panthers
Because that's what it is. Homicide doesn't automatically mean a crime was committed. It just means the death of a human caused by another human. Until they figure out exactly what happened, it's going to be an open traffic homicide investigation. -
Rockhill site going south fast it seems.
LinvilleGorge replied to Big Sexy's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's an hour and a half without traffic. You don't want your day to day office being an hour and a half from where you play. You kinda force your players and coaches to live halfway in between or closer to Spartanburg. A lot of players want to live in the city. You aren't commuting three hours everyday and that's without factoring in I-85 traffic. It's way too far away for a headquarters. -

I just don't think people grasp this. Oh! Restaurants and retail! Yippee! Low paying service jobs! -

You can't have your headquarters that far away, especially not with the traffic on I-85 that's only going to keep getting worse. -
Fitterer on trading out of the #6 pick
LinvilleGorge replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'll repeat. When you're a top 10 pick and you're traded for much less a year later, you ARE a bust. Josh Rosen is a bust. CJ Henderson is a bust. We hope that we can salvage Henderson's career but early returns don't look good.- 107 replies

Schefter is an NFL reporter. He's reporting on a news story from an NFL perspective. Be mad if you want but you're missing the context. -

Dwayne Haskins struck by car and killed
LinvilleGorge replied to Cdparr7's topic in Carolina Panthers
He probably should've just left it as "former OSU standout and 1st round pick of the Commanders" but I'm not understanding the outrage. Schefter is an NFL reporter. He's not writing a eulogy. -

Fitterer on trading out of the #6 pick
LinvilleGorge replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
We've basically become a minor league team. We just exist for the other teams to pluck us of our talent, both on the roster and on the staff.- 107 replies

We have very different definitions of "solid". He was terrible last year. When you're a former top 10 pick traded a year later for a 3rd you ARE a bust. We're trying to rehab him but year one of rehab resulted in quite the relapse.- 107 replies

Same. Doing a mock makes you realize that if we make a pick at #6 we essentially have a one player draft. One hopeful stud and a bunch of long shots. The bulk of rosters are built with mid-round draft picks and having no second day picks really puts us behind the eight ball.- 107 replies

I'll say it again, I honestly think Tepper is just embarrassed right now. He swung BIG on Matt Rhule and thought he had the next Belichick. He was strutting around showing him off like a proud new father. He's not yet ready to swallow the very bitter pill that he was very wrong.
-
Yeah, honestly it's time for Rhule to lie in the bed that he's made for himself. Throwing real resources at another trash heap vet shouldn't be an option. If we had an owner who could admit to mistakes, Matt Rhule would be trying to recruit kids to come play for him at Tulane or somewhere like that right now.
-
Honestly, the "fun stuff with the kids" seemed like it was thrown in at the end almost as an afterthought. He went with going after all the great stuff his ex has first and with a lot more energy. Just sayin'. The TS comes off looking really bad here IMO, perhaps unintentionally. $250 a month in child support in 2022 seems like practically nothing. Regardless of the financial situation of your ex, you still bear some financial responsibility for your kids. Thread deletion seems like a good idea. I'll do it if TS wants.

Rayzor generally locks them. I'm more of an asshole than him. I'm for letting people with bad takes take their lumps. Huge props to @glenwo2 though. He came in with the worst of takes as Darnold's biggest fanboy. But the guy took his lumps and hung around. I was wrong about him.
-
I criticized not playing him in the preseason but honestly in hindsight I think it was the right call. Hear me out. I think once they got him on the field in camp and started installing the offense they found out very quickly just how limited he was and realized that teams were going to quickly figure him out in our scheme with tape on him. They were basically forced to try to to hide him as long as possible. After four regular season games, the NFL had him straight DIALED. I told everyone who would listen last year that Darnold would likely look decent early on but as teams got tape on him he'd prove what he was. If he still looked decent around Halloween then we might have something. He barely made it out of September.

Jackson is inconsistent for sure, but he has played at a MUCH higher level than CJ Henderson. Henderson has looked like a flat out bust through two seasons. He's basically Darnold at CB. Pure trash for the most part but every now and then he'll make a play that flashes his talent, but it's likely fool's gold in that pan.- 107 replies

Just pure delusion. When a guy sucks for three years, chances are he just plain sucks. Sure, there are some guys who can bounce back and salvage a career elsewhere but those situations are a lot rarer than NFL fans imagine. The vast majority of busts stay busts. That the guy was a mistake of a high draft pick three years ago just couldn't possibly be more irrelevant to who he is in the NFL.
