Which is why I've been focused on the future since we parted ways with Cam, meanwhile the Panthers have been obsessed with bandaid approaches to desperately trying to win now. Yes, Mahomes is still great without Kelce and Hill. Hill is already gone. Mahomes is still great. Andy Reid is the greatest offensive coach ever. Yes, he deserves a ton of credit. But before Mahomes he was just a guy who could never win the big game.

You're full of hopium and copium and aren't seeing reality. Our entire offensive game plan is "don't let Sam Darnold throw the game away". That's reality.
-
You're not winning a SB with Sam Darnold at QB. So you keep swinging.
-
It's usually the afterthoughts who do it. Not former top 10 picks with 50+ starts under their belt. The former never had a chance and had to capitalize when it comes. The latter have had chance after chance because of their talent. They just don't have it.

You can't fix his brain. He is what he is. He doesn't see the field like a QB. He sticks on his first read too long and when he comes off of it it's already panic time. He's a panicker and you can't fix it. He doesn't process the info quick enough because he isn't instinctual and he's trying to think his way through it. If you're consciously thinking you're too slow. He's always looked good when everything goes well on the play and his first read is open. That's because he can just rely on his physical talent. But that's not sustainable.

The league is boom or bust. There's one SB champs every year and 31 also rans.
-
Jake Delhomme is leagues above Sam Darnold.
-
We aren't going to compete for SBs until we find a franchise QB. Period. Building right is looking for a franchise QB until you find one.
-
Are you just willfully ignoring the rest of last year? Do you really want to try to use last year to talk about what Sam Darnold has proven in the NFL?
-
All you can do is start swinging. Which is what I've been begging to do for three years now. Meanwhile y'all wanna see how far we can go with Sam freaking Darnold.
-
If we get put in a situation where we have to throw to try to win down the stretch we'll find out. I know where my money is. If I'm wrong, awesome.
-
I wanna be the Chiefs. Draft a QB even though you have a decent performing vet. I wanna be the Niners. Make a bold move to go get your guy and have the roster to absorb the hit even if it doesn't work out. I don't want to be one of the myriad of teams trying to figure out how to win despite their deficiency at QB. If you want to compete for Super Bowls you need a dude at QB. Not some JAG. You mentioned the Rams and Gurley earlier but it was adding Stafford and his nearly 5999 yards and 40+ TDs that got them a SB.
-
And drafted Mahomes in the 1st anyway. They didn't rest on their Alex Smith laurels. You inadvertently produced a great example of why you don't settle. And Alex Smith was considerably better than Darnold.
-
Building the best possible team should be the goal. It starts with QB.
-
A guy getting outplayed by a 7th round rookie? That's the goal? Damn, I know we've sucked for years but some of y'all are developing some rock bottom copium goals.
-
Winning a putrid division shouldn't be the goal. The next NFC South team to figure out the QB position is setup to dominate until the rest of the division does the same. I want to be that team.
-
When we actually come out and run an offense that doesn't intentionally de-emphasize the QB and he plays well then we'll have something to talk about.
-
We ran for 21 yards vs. the Steelers. We threw 23 times. The offensive game plan boils down to "don't let Darnold throw the game away".
-
What trajectory? We are running an offense that outright de-emphasizes the QB position. Some of y'all or grossly overstating this "development". Darnold is doing a great job running a backup QB offense. He's on the trajectory of having a long career as a backup. Which isn't a terrible thing but he is not a long-term starter. We're running this offense for a reason.
-
Drafting a bust QB doesn't set you back. It's the refusing to move on from a bust QB that sets you back. If he busts, move on.
-
Oh, he's boom or bust for sure. I'm all the way out on Levis. At some point we have to start swinging. I think Richardson has the highest ceiling in the draft. But yeah, he might bust. If he does, keep swinging. But you absolutely can't settle for subpar. Mediocrity becomes your ceiling.

There's no doubt in my mind that outside of that massive trade and contract Russell Wilson would've been benched weeks ago. They're gonna lose this challenge. Another turnover on the first play of the second half. This one isn't on Wilson but just a continuation of the poo avalanche the Broncos are caught in currently.
-
I'd be all for drafting Anthony Richardson and retaining Darnold as a bridge QB to ensure we're not forced to try to play Richardson before he's ready.
-
What?
-
Oh, it's by far the biggest surprise of the season. A lot of people were ready to put the Broncos in the SB.
