Panthers meet with Sam Howell

Tepper, you've ruined everything else Panthers related for me. Please, do me this one favor. Please do not draft Sam Howell. -
Panthers meet with Sam Howell
LinvilleGorge replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
I wonder what those numbers look like for Howell the previous two years? Everything last season comes with a huge asterisk. Howell played QB his first two seasons. Last year, he was trying to play offense. As in carry the entire offense himself. -
If we draft a QB, I want Carson Strong
LinvilleGorge replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
Pickett is a better athlete but Trask is a better QB. I honestly see very little to get excited about with Pickett when I watch him play. The measurables don't show up. The arm is average. He bails out of clean pockets too often. He just looked like a decently talented guy who had spent five years in the same system and took advantage of that experience advantage that will get spun around on him in the NFL where his talent level is average at the position. It's just not a recipe for success IMO. -
But why? Why would Arizona be willing to trade him?

ELLIS L. WILLIAMS Of the OBSERVER on Jimmy G
LinvilleGorge replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Everyone keeps trying to sell Jimmy G based on the Niners' team accomplishments while ignoring his poor play. Is Jimmy G better than Sam Darnold? Yeah. But that's no the whole question. Is he good enough to trade for and)or good enough to take a $24M cap hit on next year? Hell no. So trading for him would be an awful idea. I'f we're a 4-5 win team with Darnold, we're probably a 6-7 win team with Jimmy G and then he's a free agent and here we are again a year from now. -

No one wins with Tepper and Rhule's Panthers either. And no one wins with Sam Darnold. -

Sam was just terrible. Our offense looked pretty legit with Teddy. We just looked like we needed a QB who was a bit more aggressive and better able to go downfield. Sam was just all around awful, like he's been his entire NFL career. He's a talented thrower of the football but he's not a QB. He doesn't have it between the ears. -
Panthers meet with Sam Howell

I'm still very frustrated that Christensen didn't get significantly more time at LT and we didn't get Brown on the field much at all. We could and should have a much better idea of what we have in those guys. I just have very little confidence in this crew evaluating talent. Draft, free agents, already on the roster. They don't seem great at evaluating any of it. -

It was fool's gold. Then the truth came out and the truth looked a while lot like the same guy who played for the Jets. -

If that was true he'd already be fired. Tepper hasn't accepted that this dude is a clown. He's still a believer. -

He looked exactly like I said he'd look. Decent at first and like trash once NFL teams got a bead on him in our system. Teddy isn't good but he had a career year in Brady's system. Sam Darnold is just a trash tier QB. -
Panthers meet with Sam Howell

We're highly unlikely to win a lot of games either way but Rhule's best chance of getting a 4th year is probably with a promising rookie and a team that shows improvement through the course of the season. -

I don't see him in the roster, even if he's outright cut. We didn't learn anything from the Teddy debacle. You can't openly poo all over a guy while he's still on your roster. -

Which is why Rhule should've been fired but he wasn't so here we are. Gotta keep on keeping on. -

I'm very against it. I'd honestly rather stick with Darnold. -

He'll probably be about the same then end up injured. That's kinda his M.O. -

Andy Reid couldn't help Sam Darnold. -
Panthers meet with Sam Howell
LinvilleGorge replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm not sure sure I wouldn't prefer Howell and the top OG in the draft vs. the 4th or 5th best OT prospect. I'm honestly not sure if that OT would be a legit upgrade over Christensen while I think the best OG would be a definite upgrade over our current guards. -
Panthers meet with Sam Howell
LinvilleGorge replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
Agreed. I've always thought the Baker comp was a pretty good one physically. Big difference between the ears though. -
Two 1sts AND paying him like a top 5 QB. The fact that Arizona seems to be balking on paying him has me balking on whether it would be a good idea to both trade for him AND pay him.

It became a one read and bolt offense. Because it had to be.
