We're a tough situation for a rookie QB to walk into with our staffing situation. It was past time for us to part ways with Ron but for all his flaws Matt Rhule makes Ron Rivera look like Vince Lombardi in comparison.

You can't win with Darnold. Get the kid in as quick as we can get him ready and let him sink or swim. Don't "pull a Christensen" and leave him on the bench behind a trash vet and barely give yourself a chance to evaluate him in actual game situations.

Did not like this pick. Yes, he has great measurables but he absolutely CANNOT cover. He allowed a 75% completion rate in coverage. That's insane. He must not have made any plays on the ball. Hell, 25% of the time it's going to be a bad throw, a throw impacted by the pass rush, or a dropped ball.

Intriguing pick. Crazy athlete. Good gamble at that point in the draft. If nothing else potentially an intriguing special teamer who could develop into more.

Because there aren't many coaches with the chops to pull it off. Not many coaches can pull a Dean Smith and evolve from running the Four Corners offense to running your butt off in the shot clock era.

I like former safeties at LB. Like I said, this is a cover and rush the passer league. You need to be one or the other at LB. The old school thumper LBs who are liabilities in coverage are being phased out. Same thing at safety. If you can't cover you can't play.

Absolutely agree. I don't have a ton of respect for the "muh system" type coaches. Any decent coach can win given a roster that fits his ideal philosophies. A great coach can tweak his systems and philosophies to fit his talent and that flexibility allows him to largely ignore scheme fits and simply focus on acquiring the best possible talent. Relying on ideal scheme fits just shoehorns you into bad spots.
