  1. For the record, I absolutely think we've moved on from the possibility of starting Darnold and the "competition" will be a complete farce.
  2. There's no cap savings by cutting him. We're on the hook for all of it. So I say let him "compete". Maybe Baker Mayfield could use the humbling of being forced to compete for his job with the worst QB on the league. Who knows, maybe someone gets injured in camp around the league and we end up with a similar deal. We eat the majority of Darnold's cap hit and get a conditional pick in return. Cool
  3. "Excited" or "optimistic" would be overstating my expectations for this season substantially, but I'd put myself in the "intrigued" category. I can't say I'm expecting success but I can at least envision a potential path to success now. If we had an coach that I thought was NFL caliber I'd be legit excited.
  4. Agreed with everything until Even Sam might play better with this line. Nope. Don't fall into that trap.
  5. I think Gross-Matos will get a lot of those snaps and I think he'll be a substantial step up against the run, but not the pass rusher that Reddick was.
  6. I'm expecting a step back in pass rush but a step forward in run D. That's what losing Reddick does for you. Him and Burns at DE was a helluva pass rush tandem but you're giving up a lot having two relatively light in the pants speed rushers playing DE.
  7. Didn't even click. Read "Zach Wilson's ex claims..."
  8. You mad as hell. Joe Brady wasn't ready to be an NFL OC. He may not ever he for all I know. Not sure how I'm a "Brady lover". But you do you I guess.
  9. His stats were very similar to his last season with the Jets. This is just who he is. Joe Brady is gone but we were still very determined to move on from Darnold as our starter this season for a reason.
  10. Honestly, it was all Darnold could handle in all likelihood. They didn't just wantonly decide to hold Darnold out of preseason. Once they actually saw for themselves how limited of a QB he was they knew they had to hide him as long as possible. They couldn't allow any nonessential film of him playing in our offense to exist for opposing DCs to study.
  11. This. I don't want to further taint my memory of what Can was on his prime. Signing him last year was worth it for that first game. That was the most excitement I've had as a Panthers fan since 2015. But it's over. We gotta let it go.
  12. There's at least a reasonable path to potential success now when looking at the roster, especially in an overall weak NFC. The massive hurdle to overcome is still Matt Rhule. He either needs to prove this year that he's figured out this college to NFL transition or he needs to get sent packing. No more free passes.
  13. I think Joe Brady likely has a bright future in football but NFL OC was too much too soon for him.
  14. Demo is relatively easy with the right tools. Primarily pry bars of various sizes and shapes. Flat ones are key. Get stuff started with those them you can break out the bigger ones but it's tough to get stuff started with the bigger ones. Most people just try to go to work with a sledgehammer and a crowbar and yeah, that sucks.
  15. Right now I'm just relieved we didn't make a move for Jimmy G.
  16. This team has displayed zero long-term vision for years. A team with long-term vision fired Rhule after last season. Considering it's a staff desperately trying to save their jobs, this is the best move they could make. The best QB available and a move that comes with little cap or draft asset investiture.
  17. That's the understatement of the century. I watched Armanti Edwards get caught from behind on a punt return by the freaking punter.
  18. Too bad we didn't fall back assward into a QB coming off of the greatest season in college football history and the best rookie WR anyone has ever seen.
  19. If Rhule finds success with Mayfield, fine. We're not going to find success unless Rhule proves himself as a capable NFL coach. Winning is winning. If Rhule wins he's earned the right to hang around. Another poo show of a season and he should be unceremoniously poo canned and kicked to the curb.
  20. I think we would trade Darnold if we could. Nah, don't extend Baker. Let him prove it. You can always franchise tag him if need be if he plays well.
  21. Honestly I think what Baker would thrive in is a modified version of the offense we ran with Cam Newton. Now one would argue that Baker can't do that because he isn't the running threat Cam was, but that's where the "modified" comes in. Replace Cams running threat with the RPO. Instead of the read options we ran with Cam we'd run an RPO with Baker. Instead of reading the D to see if he keeps to run or hands off he's reading the D to see if he keeps to throw or hands off. The rest of the concepts cater to Baker's strengths. His strengths and weaknesses as a passer are similar to Cam's.
  22. Matt Rhule is by far my biggest concern. If we had a legit NFL coaching staff I would think we could potentially compete for the playoffs and honestly that should be Rhule's measuring stick for this season. He has to be sent packing if we flounder again.
