Sell me Justin Fields vs CJ Stroud
LinvilleGorge replied to Cam's New Arm's topic in Carolina Panthers
But his team lost so that means he sucks. By this rationalization we need to sell the farm for Stetson Bennett. That guy's teams beat the poo out of everyone with him putting up big time numbers. Obviously the future GOAT. -
Sell me Justin Fields vs CJ Stroud
LinvilleGorge replied to Cam's New Arm's topic in Carolina Panthers
I watched Stroud keep OSU highly competitive against a significantly superior UGA team. Period. Seems like the goalposts of rationalization move based on whether or not you like a prospect. -
I quoted the wrong post.

Sell me Justin Fields vs CJ Stroud
LinvilleGorge replied to Cam's New Arm's topic in Carolina Panthers
Mahomes was 16-21 as a starting QB at Texas Tech. Who cares about team records when you're looking at individual prospects? We aren't looking to draft the team we're looking to draft the player. Watch the player not the team.- 156 replies

Sell me Justin Fields vs CJ Stroud
LinvilleGorge replied to Cam's New Arm's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't think Fields slipped due to struggling against good defenses. He ripped Clemson a new one and Clemson probably had the best defense in the country that year. I think it was concerns about his processing. -
Sell me Justin Fields vs CJ Stroud
LinvilleGorge replied to Cam's New Arm's topic in Carolina Panthers
Fields is the much better athlete. Stroud is the much more polished passer. There wouldn't be a comparison between the two if they didn't go to the same school. They're not very similar as players.- 156 replies

Hurts looked like a guy who needed a position change at Bama. It's hard to judge Lincoln Riley QBs. Everyone he puts on the field puts up video game stats in Heisman worthy campaigns.
-
People put way too much emphasis on the team outcome when looking at prospects. Mahomes was 16-21 during his college career.
-
It's extremely generous to give OSU any credit for Joe Burrow.

There's gonna be a lot of intriguing WR talent in the 2nd through 4th rounds IMO. I fully expect us to draft one somewhere in that range.

Reich’s description of a QB: It’s basically Corral
LinvilleGorge replied to Wundrbread33's topic in Carolina Panthers
If we roll with Corral then we're all in on getting Caleb Williams or Drake Maye next year. -
Anyone who couldn't see that the officiating in that game was fuged is either wildly biased or willfully ignorant. The worst day of NFL officiating since SB50. It honestly dampens my enthusiasm for watching the SB.

Frank Reich's Intro Presser - Today, Noon EST
LinvilleGorge replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
Wonder who is Vontae Mack is? -
I'm optimistic. I'll be excited when we get an answer at QB.

FTR, I thought Philly was an ass for his inability to keep TB topics in the TB but my comment was just laughing at the irony. I honestly don't have a problem with Philly personally. He got banned because he pissed off Igo. No other mod was involved in that.
-
This makes sense. They're already all in on Russell Wilson. If Payton can't fix him no one can.
-
Trust me when I say that I couldn't possibly care less about what you think. I only responded to clear up blatant falsities. Think whatever you want but at least get the facts straight.
-
There was no pitch. I was bitching about how the board was ran in general. I never asked or offered to be a mod. I was nominated. I accepted. Period. Turns out a lot of the things I was bitching about are out of a mod's control anyway. I did think GJBC should've been banned long before he was. I did ban him. He was allowed back. Igo finally had enough and banned him himself. But don't let facts get in your way.

Begged and pleaded... LOLOLOLOL That literally never happened. Igo banned PhillyB, not me.

Report. Panthers pivoting from Shane Steichen
LinvilleGorge replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm okay with trading for other positions. I mean, sometimes you can have a good player stuck behind a great player and it makes sense for other teams to want to acquire the good player and for the team with both to get assets to bolster their roster elsewhere because they're not getting maximum value out of the good player stuck in a backup role. But teams just do not move on from franchise caliber QBs. If teams are willing to part ways with a franchise caliber QB, red flags should be flying. There are injury concerns, declining due to age concerns, off field stuff... SOMETHING is going on. -
Agreed and that's just too much unless you're sold on Stroud being a surefire HOFer. I like him a lot, but I'm not sold on that.

Report. Panthers pivoting from Shane Steichen
LinvilleGorge replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah, hopefully Reich learned from his Colts experience that you need to find your guy and commit to developing him. He had decent success with JAGs but that's a tough row to hoe. -
Report. Panthers pivoting from Shane Steichen
LinvilleGorge replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm an advocate of both. If Carr is released we should be in the mix. Then we should still pick Anthony Richardson if he's there at #9. What I DON'T want to do is trade for Carr. They're going to try to trade him first. We need to stay out of that. -
Report. Panthers pivoting from Shane Steichen
LinvilleGorge replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah, I think we were intrigued and tempted by young potential offensive wunderkinds, but ultimately after the Rhule flop I think Tepper wanted a safer alternative. That's why I kind of expect a young potential offensive wunderkind at OC. It gives him the best of both worlds. Safer, more experienced HC with exciting potential at OC. We'll see... -
Like it matters? If he had to kick a 56 yarder there would've been a flag thrown just in case he missed to scoot him up for the retry. Just how that game was shaping up.
