Xavier Legette has checked out. I see no fight in this manman
LinvilleGorge replied to Gipetto's topic in Carolina Panthers
The Etienne pick sort of made sense in that RB is a position where you can often find value in the mid to late rounds and we needed some juice at returner so draft a guy who should be able to immediately contribute in the latter while developing behind proven vets in the former. Then he goes out there and looks like a guy who has never seen a punt in his life. Oh wee mayne. -
I hope so. We have a good history of edge rushers but we've been in a drought for awhile.

I mean, even some of the legendary NFL players who played for him for years and know him very well as a coach (and who it should be noted also played college football and understand the differences between the two) were literally yacking it up laughing about how absurd the idea of Bill Belichick coach college football was. https://x.com/langstonwertzjr/status/1865914703039402197?t=Cw2xesrbXmzYB0g7F7pmbQ&s=19

Never thought I'd hear Colter Wall going into an NFL commercial break.
-
It's not my job to identify the candidates and the recruits. But I can tell you that the coaching and the playing is ass and that it wasn't a lack of resources issue.

I would be throwing absolutely zero shade after my unit produced literally 0 last game out.

Yeah, just awful.

I don't know. I'm pretty sure I said I bowed out of this one because we got the guy I wanted in Fedora and that crashed and burned so I didn't have a horse in this race but I said all along I didn't want Belichick. You're acting like UNC just didn't have the resources and that's absolute hogwash. We didn't just have to pony up to pay Belichick, we had to make NIL commitments to football as part of the deal. Belichick is one of the top 10 highest paid coaches in college football. It wasn't a lack of resources problem. They just got sold on this idea of making a massive splash hiring one of the greatest NFL coaches of all time and it looks like Seifert at the Panthers all over again.

Looks and sounds like a guy who's been deactivated with an "injury" being used as an excuse.- 120 replies

It's a complete clown show and an embarrassment for everyone all the way around.
-
What a clown show of a play. Awful INT from Murray and then the DB fumbles after getting hit sticked by his own teammate. LOL I think he may have been down before the fumble though. We'll see
-
He's 73. This wasn't a long-term hire. This was a huge splash hire and the huge splash was the massive poo landing in the toilet.
-
Not someone who is 73 years old and who had never coached college football. I wanted Mack Brown gone because the game had passed him by and we fire him to hire someone the same age. Not a QB who barely did anything at South Alabama.

You're just failing to cope with how atrocious this roster looks. How many players do we have that would be starting or getting significant PT on most other power conference teams? Hell, Jordan Shipp might be the whole list. And it's not because the cupboard was left bare. Belichick and crew used the portal to completely reshape the roster in their vision and much like his moves as GM with the Pats the result is trash.
-
The talent level on this roster is late stage John Bunting level atrocious. Think about if we'd used that Belichick money on NIL budget. That's where college football is right now. It's about how much you can offer a prospect this year then we'll talk again next year.

Not to early to talk 2026 Hall of Fame nominees
LinvilleGorge replied to PanthersATL's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think Smitty is a HOFer he's just such an asshole that I can't get myself to care if he gets in or not. Let that poor bastard in Baltimore take a lap every year he doesn't get in. LOL -
He's terrible. He's less terrible when you're relying on him to be the worst player on the field and you can try to compensate for that. He's more terrible when you're relying on him to be a key component of your LB corps.
-
3 or 4 years? Hell, Belichick will be old enough to possibly win a Presidential election by that point.

Is Mike Jack already the 2nd best trade in Panthers history?
LinvilleGorge replied to Basbear's topic in Carolina Panthers
Hell, we've been so bad at trading for players I'm honestly trying to remember another positive one. -
Banging the opposing coach's smoke show daughter and revealing it during game week is top notch trolling.
-
Aaaaaaand... the Giants are benching Russell Wilson for their rookie. If that sorry ass goal line series is the end of Wilson's career that's actually gonna be pretty sad because that was some of the hottest trash I've ever seen.

What top 10 prospect do you absolutely NOT want?
LinvilleGorge replied to CanadianCat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Hell if I know I'm just trying to come up with excuses for them. LOL -

I think the majority did. I don't know how the Jags deluded themselves. Might've been a bit of "hometown kid" bias at play with him being a Florida kid (albeit Miami area) but having gotten his collegiate start at Jacksonville State . -

Yeah, it really seems like they made that move legitimately expecting him to be a two way player which is just crazy. You just can't be a two way player in the modern NFL. The obvious approach with Hunter was to have him focus on being a CB first and basically motivate him by telling him that the better you play on defense and the more comfortable you are on the field there, the more comfortable we're going to be putting more on your plate by carving out a bigger piece for you on offense but likely always limiting that to maybe 10-12 snaps a game at most on offense. Starting him out primarily at WR was just insane. At least they quickly saw that and adjusted but they really blew it with the off-season/preseason approach and it's causing Hunter to play catch up. -
Yeah, Moehrig in likely passing situations as a LB/DB hybrid role seems like a better approach then Rozeboom/Wallace.
