  1. Yes. I think he's going to keep playing until the phone quits ringing or he breaks a hip.
  2. This 1pm slate of games just doesn't look very good. Like at all.
  3. He wasn't concussed, he just bounced his head off the turf and then got up staggering around like a drunk man while holding his head. Obviously he just hurt his back.
  4. I feel good about our core young defensive talent. Considering the amount of draft capital we've spent there we damn well should. I honestly think this team is a QB and a coaching staff away from being pretty damn good. Unfortunately, that QB piece is by far the toughest one to find.
  5. Yikes, I missed that line. Good grief.
  6. I mean, they license boxing and MMA events.
  7. Agreed. I don't ever see him even being considered for another NFL job. And yeah, I think he's going to have to prove himself again at another mid-level college program or a former powerhouse program in shambles before he'll get a shot at a legit powerhouse program or a program actually on the doorstep of potentially becoming a powerhouse program. Honestly, the fit at Nebraska makes a lot of sense for both parties. Nebraska is a former powerhouse in shambles and Matt Rhule has shown twice that he can drag college programs out of the basement and make them competitive. What he hasn't shown is that he can sustain it or that he can take the step from competitive to legit contender. That combined with his massive flop with the Panthers is why I can't see any big time programs considering him. It's gonna be mid-level programs or complete rebuild programs that will be wanting Matt Rhule IMO.
  8. Meanwhile, by far the best offenses we've fielded under Rhule came with Joe Brady at OC. Joe Brady might ultimately prove to be a legit OC I just think NFL OC was too much too soon for him. He'll get another NFL OC gig way before Matt Rhule lands another NFL HC gig.
  9. This is true. Why are you going to pass on a guy for lesser roles and then offer him a coordinator job once your back is against the wall? Rhule just knew Tepper would be impressed with McAdoo's resumé because Tepper doesn't know what he's doing as an NFL owner either. It's pretty much just that simple. Tepper challenged Rhule to find a "superstar" OC and Rhule hired the most impressive resumé he could get to take the job with literally not a bit more thought put into it than that.
  10. Bingo. No one was knocking down McAdoo's door with opportunities and Rhule desperately needed some guys with legit NFL resumés on his staff.
  11. Yeah, I would expect some issues between a HC and a coordinator whose unit is struggling mightily. Especially when you were hired as a "superstar". The reality is that McAdoo's scheme doesn't fit our talent at all and he's struggling mightily to adapt to that. This was just a bad hire that wasn't about the scheme/talent fit at all. It was just Rhule wanting to show Tepper that he can get former NFL HCs to come work for him so see, I am a legit NFL coach! Wilks is the other one and honestly, our talent doesn't fit there either. Wilks is a cover 3 guy. He prefers his DBs playing off zone and reading the QB to maximize opportunities for INTs. Meanwhile, we have a bunch of man cover CBs. It's all mismatched "resumé hires".
  12. A college team basically paying Tepper to fire Rhule a bit earlier? What college program with the resources to both pay off Tepper and pay Rhule is going to want Matt Rhule THAT bad? I just can't see that at all.
  13. Pick six aside, I still think he's a liability as a drop back defender. He's a good downhill player. He's a situational player on a more well rounded roster IMO. That's still far from a bad thing. Every good roster needs some quality situational/rotational players.
  14. Unfortunately, it failed for a reason. People don't want to watch a second rate feeder league and constantly lose their best players to the NFL.
  15. I'd be surprised if Rhule gets fired this early. He'll nab a college job and take a good chunk of the staff with him (definitely Phil Snow). You'll be left with McAdoo, Wilks, and a skeleton crew to finish out the majority of the season. That's a long time to try to keep the organization held together and the locker room from falling apart. That's why coaches are very rarely fired this early in the season outside of big time off field concerns. Tepper has made his bed, time to lie in it.
  16. Also, if you make an entire division in Europe, what does that look like? The best expansion plan would be to go to 36 teams and six divisions of six teams. But six teams in Europe? No way that's happening right out of the gate. I think if they do dip their toes in Europe it'll be two existing teams relocating to Europe, one in London and one in Germany. It'll be the Jags going to London. Tepper will be fighting hard to take the Panthers to Germany. Other teams I could see being in that fight would probably be the Bengals, maybe the Bucs, potentially the Titans, the Jets wouldn't be a total shocker.
  17. For the same reason a lot of folks with the opportunity to relocate internationally ultimately choose not to. Distance from family and friends, totally different culture, climate, etc. There's also the tax implications and need for two households if you're not uprooting your entire family. That's a significant financial burden for a rank and file NFL player who is trying to make enough money in his NFL career to be set for life.
  18. If you're talking specifically to me, none of the above. If you're talking to the typical NFL player, probably all of the above.
  19. He's right it would be easier as a division simply because it would alleviate some of the very significant logistical problems with scheduling. Still, the logistical problems are MASSIVE. On the field, the Euro teams will have a huge home field advantage and a massive away game disadvantage due to those logistics. In terms of luring free agents... man, the Euro teams are going to be at a huge disadvantage. No legit star is gonna wanna go there. They're already doing fine here. You could have an advantage luring in good but not star level talent with the pitch of potentially becoming a star in Europe. But your real disadvantage is with rank and file roster players. Low level starters, good backups. Why would they go to Europe unless you're significantly overpaying? The NFL just sees $$$ but I see a lot of issues, both logistically and competitively.
  20. Cliff notes: Basically McAdoo is trash. The RPO game is the staple of our offense and it's trash. We're not feeding our workhorses and Mayfield is a limited QB schematically and we're not playing to his strengths (play action). Smitty did give the D props. Said their biggest problem is simply getting worn out from being on the field all game. IMO, it's very clear at this point that Phil Snow has been the reason for Rhule's success. Rhule is the pitchman and Snow is the actual brains behind the operation and that's why Rhule has always coached defensive focused teams with "good enough to get by" offenses. Except "good enough to get by" at Temple and Baylor ain't good enough to get by in the NFL.
  21. Here's the bad news. Every Rhule team had played it's best football in the first third of the season and gotten progressively worse over the course of the season. We're playing our best football right now, as sad as that may be.
  22. Having previously been a part of one of the best ran organizations in the NFL I can fully understand why not.
  23. We suck and Gilmore will age out before we don't suck. I didn't want to re-sign either of them.
